       Dick began hiking on May        6th   and by November   11th   had finished the entire Bruce Trail.!
                                                                                McCoy’s group during the
                                                                                summer. This was a spectacular
                                                                                section of trail with great look-
                                                                                outs but also the toughest
                                                                                terrain. He saw sand cranes with
                                                                                their weird callings (sounds like
                                                                                a cheap New Year’s Eve
                                                                                noisemaker) and lots of bear
                                                                                signs – but no sightings. He also
                                                                                got to see the famous rattlesnake
                                                                                of the Peninsula and says he was
                                                                                very conscious of where he
                                                                                stepped for the next hour!
                                                                                     Next Dick participated in the

                      picks, Pulaskies, and Mattocks which
                      tend to create narrow holes, usually
                      too deep and uneven, and then still
                      require a shovel to remove the

                          My husband Martin and I had been
                      doing trail maintenance in the Caledon

                                          A long-time member of the BTA, passed                                                                                        As most of you know our good friend Nick
