PROPEL
PROPEL ORTHOTIC SYSTEM
A comprehensive foot care system designed to restore function
and provide unequaled protection for your amputee patients.
Propel Orthotics:
Transmetatarsal or other partial foot amputations present unique biomechanical challenges
for patients and foot care providers alike. Compromised metatarsal joint function distorts
or eliminates the propulsive phase of gait. The inability of these patients to properly
“toe – off” results in unsteady gait patterns and increases the likelihood of future tissue
breakdown and other related compensatory pathology.
The Propel Orthotic helps to stabilize the foot within a normal footwear environment.
The Propel shell is constructed from Superform, a thin and lightweight thermoplastic
composite material. The positive casts are modified so the module can be extended to
the full length of the shoes. Propel Orthotic
A custom-made prosthesis (filler) is crafted from the positive model of the foot. The filler is
placed adjacent to the amputation site on the full length module and functionally stabilizes
the foot inside the shoe. These fillers are constructed from medical grade Plastazote foam
and are covered with the highest quality 35 durometer EVA foam materials.
Langer also includes a custom made orthotic for the contralateral foot. This device is
semi-flexible and covered to the toes with the same EVA material used in the Propel
Orthotic.
The result of this unique design is a functional, yet protective device that will help all of
your transmetatarsal and partial foot amputee patients.
The Propel System doesn’t stop there and neither should you.
Superform Shell
Foot care providers should attempt to manage and control the footwear choices of all
patients. For the amputee patient, this is critical. The footwear environment that patients
function in can have as much, or more influence on outcomes as does the therapeutic
modalities themselves.
With Langer’s Propel Orthotic System you can order from a selection of our shoes for your
patients. The styles that were selected possess design characteristics and other features that
make them the perfect compliment for the Propel Orthotic. Each shoe is an extra depth
design with spacious toe box areas. The shoes all possess anatomically correct sole flexion
points and are available in a wide array of widths and lengths.

Propel Transmet
This system is designed for the patient that has a full transmetatarsal
amputation. The package includes a Propel Orthotic made from a semi-
rigid Superform shell containing a full prosthetic buttress (filler). There is
also an accommodative device included for the unaffected side.
Included in this package is a Silipos Partial Foot Sock (Suggested
Reimbursement Code L8417). These socks are designed to fit
comfortably over the transmet stump and contain a polymer gel
which when released, moisturizes and softens affected areas.
Propel Partial Foot
This system is designed for the patient that has a partial foot
amputation (ie. Hallux, or digits). The package includes a Propel
Orthotic made from semi-flexible Superform shell containing a partial
foot toe filler. There is also an accommodative device included for
the unaffected side.
Included in this package is a pair of Langer Diab-A-Sox. These socks
are a purely seamless sock free of pressure points. They are moisture
wicking and bacterial inhibiting.

POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
Return Policy
• All shoes and prefabricated insoles returned for credit must not have been worn
and be in perfect resellable condition. Shoes that have been modified (tongue
or heel pad, etc.) or worn in any way (creases on top of shoe, wear in shoe
lining, etc) will not be accepted for return. Shoes cannot be accepted without
manufacturer’s insoles. Credit will not be given for shipping charges.
• Postage paid labels will be provided for all shoe returns and foam impressions.
• Shoes and prefabricated insoles may be returned within 60 days of sale for
credit or refund.
• Shoes and prefabricated insoles that are returned within 6 months of sale will
be subject to a 20% restocking fee.
• Shoes and prefabricated insoles will not be accepted for credit or refund after 6
months from date of sale.
• Custom Insoles will not be accepted as a return for credit. However, they may
be refitted to another shoe at no additional charge.
GUARANTEE
All shoes are guaranteed for 6 months under normal wear conditions. Within
this time frame, if the sole separates from the shoe or the stitching comes apart,
the customer may exchange the shoe. Shoes that show signs of abuse such as
being left in water etc., are not exchangeable. Shoes that show signs of wear in
the lining by the toe are not considered a defect, but rather a sign that the shoe
is too small.
