Robert Bluhm - Assistant Director for Science and Technology Projects, University of California, Berkeley
Mr. Bluhm oversees the planning, design and construction of a range of research facility projects in the biosciences, physical sciences and engineering.
He is responsible for leading a staff of project managers and support staff in the delivery of the campus's largest laboratory project, the Li Ka Shing
Center for Biomedical and Health Sciences. Previously he shepherded significant projects for the Department of Physics and the College of
Engineering, including a new nanofabrication laboratory.

J. Christopher Case, PE – Project Manager/Process Group Leader, Affiliated Engineers, Inc.
Mr. Case has 28 years of mechanical engineering, after beginning his career assessing energy use in buildings, he has established an expertise in
cleanroom design, laboratory design and bio- containment facility design. Chris has engineered and managed the University of Wisconsin
Engineering Centers Nanotechnology cleanroom design (12,000 s.f. under filter), Genentech Hillsboro Fill and Finish, and Revance’s BSL-3 Drug
Manufacturing Facility. Recent research facility and energy related projects/clients that Chris has managed or engineered include energy reduction
projects for Amgen and Stanford University. He graduated from Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts with a Bachelor of Science in
Mechanical Engineering.

Paul Fuson PE - Sr. Product Manager for Life Sciences & Critical Environments , Siemens Industries, Inc.
Since joining the company in 1984, Paul has held positions in purchasing, product development, marketing and sales management. Paul’s earliest work
experience was as a design engineer and project manager for a manufacturer of nuclear and gas turbine power generation systems. He holds Bachelor of
Science degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Physics from the University of Illinois, and a Masters of Management degree from Northwestern

Tom Grall, Fume Hood Specialist – Thermo Fisher Scientific
Mr. Grall has over 24 years of experience in the testing and engineering area of laboratory fume hoods. He manages the Test Lab for our
company and maintains records on all testing of fume hoods manufactured by our facility. Responsibilities include certification testing
of Thermo Scientific Hamilton Fume Hoods, performing extensive in-house and field testing in accordance with ANSI-ASHRAE 110
Standard, troubleshooting performance issues and providing technical expertise when required. Bachelor of Science degree in Major
Broad Field Social Sciences. ASHRAE Associate Member since 1991
Tully Shelley - Principal, Perkins+Will
Mr. Shelley is nationally recognized for his skill and experience in the programming, planning, and design of advanced research laboratories and other
technically complex facilities. He has played a key role in each of the firm’s six R&D Magazine’s Laboratory of the Year Award-winning projects. He
also has extensive experience with planning and design of BSL-3 and vivarium facilities. Tully is much in demand as a speaker and expert, and has
recently made presentations on laboratory design for Tradeline, Society for College and University Planning (SCUP), and Reed Business Systems.

Bonnie Blake-Drucker, FAIA, LEED-AP - BlakeDrucker Architects
Bonnie Blake-Drucker is an architect whose firm, BlakeDrucker Architects has been bringing Sustainability through Design and Specification to the
University of California for over 20 years. She is a Fellow of the American Institute of Architects and past winner of Best Overall Sustainable design for
the 2006 HSW 6 laboratory Renovation.

Mark Hydeman, P.E., FASHRAE - Founding Principal - Taylor Engineering, LLC
Mr. Hydeman is a mechanical engineer specializing in the design, retrofit and commissioning of HVAC and control systems for energy efficient high
technology facilities with an emphasis on data centers, central plants, laboratory buildings, commissioning, and controls. Mark's contributions to building
science research and the industry earned him advancement to a Fellow in the ASHRAE. Stanford University has enlisted his services to design and
commission energy conserving retrofits for their buildings with the highest energy usage (predominantly laboratories). Mark has an extensive list of
publications (seven books, 12 technical papers, and four articles) and is widely sought as an instructor.

F. Kurt Last - President, Specialty Operations Solutions, Inc.
Mr. Last has more than 20 years experience in programming, design, commissioning and operating laboratory, cGMP pharmaceutical manufacturing and
research animal care facilities. Prior to founding Specialty Operations Solutions (SOS) in 1997, Mr. Last was Senior Director of Operations for a cGMP
biologics manufacturing company, leading teams charged with Facilities (Research & cGMP Manufacturing) Operations; Calibration & Metrology;
Research Animal Care and Security, Environmental Health & Safety. SOS provides programming, design, financing, sciences integration & quality
assurance, veterinary & research animal care support, complete (FDA) regulatory services, commissioning & start up, and operations.

Ron Petersen PhD - Principal/Vice President, CPP, Inc.
Dr. Petersen, has over 30 years experience in exhaust/intake evaluations, air quality assessments, atmospheric dispersion, wind-tunnel
modeling and numerical modeling. Dr. Petersen has conducted numerous studies related to exhaust/intake design and pollutant transport in complex
environments for many university, petrochemical, pharmaceutical, hospital, commercial and government clients. He has been the Principal Investigator on
three ASHRAE research projects related to exhaust and intake design and the results of this research have been published in the ASHRAE Journal and
included in ASHRAE Fundamentals. Over the past five years, he has presented at the Laboratories for the 21st Century Conference on topics related to
exhaust and intake design. In January of 2004 and 2006 he gave a short course for ASHRAE on designing exhaust systems and regularly provides training
for architects and engineers on the topic through the educational organization LabWize He has authored or coauthored over 300 technical papers and/or

Anthony (Tony) Rossi, is Director of Laboratory Exhaust Systems, Greenheck Fan Corporation, Schofield, Wisconsin. Tony has a Bachelors & Masters
degree in Mechanical Engineering, and has over 30 years experience in the industrial ventilation industry, the past 15 dedicated to laboratory ventilation.
An active member in ASHRAE TC 9.10, Lab Systems, Tony has also served on both ASHRAE and ARI standards development committees, as well the
Education Committee Chair for ASHRAE Central Indiana.
