Kids Cafe Agreement
This is an agreement between the Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina (FBCENC)

and                                             to operate a Kids Cafe Program, an after-school meals

program for children grades K-8. America’s Second Harvest, the national food bank network, owns
the Kids Cafe trademark and licensing. The initial term of the agreement shall be for one year,
subject to termination by the Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina or partner agency
with at least 30 days written notice.


The Food Bank may recall gifts of equipment provided for program purposes if it deems
appropriate. In the event the program is continued beyond the initial term, the terms of this
agreement shall remain in force unless modified.

                                          Addendum A
The Kids Cafe partner must:
   1. Be an active partner agency for at least six months or become a Food Bank of Central &
      Eastern North Carolina (FBCENC) Partner Agency.
   2. Must have up-to-date records and balances at the FBCENC.
   3. Provide a site director.
   4. Provide reasonable volunteer and staff support to prepare and serve meals; provide academic
      support; and provide learning and enrichment opportunities for the children.
   5. Submit monthly reports to designated FBCENC staff person by established deadlines.
   6. Provide a nutritious meal based on the USDA’s Food Pyramid at least two day a week.
   7. Utilize FBCENC food as basic meal ingredients.
   8. Provide a copy of general insurance certificate.
   9. Be able to demonstrate that the children served are a population at-risk of hunger.
   10. Acknowledge the exclusive naming agreement of the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North
      Carolina Kids Cafe programs
   11. Agree that any use of the BCBSNC logo and name must be approved by the Outreach,
      Evaluation & Programs Manager or designee prior to use.
   12. Agree (if applicable) to include BCBSNC logo/name on all local Kids Cafe websites with a
      link to the BCBSNC website.
Site Requirements:
   1. Must meet health and safety standards established by the State of North Carolina.
   2. Provide safe and adequate storage space for Kids Cafe food and program items.
   3. Must be able to seat at least 25 children.
   4. Adhere to site criteria listed in Kids Cafe Operations Manual.
Funding Requirements:
   1. Make recommendations to the FBCENC of possible funding sources.
   2. Support the FBCENC’s efforts to participate in the federal food programs.
   3. Support the FBCENC’s funding requests when asked to do so.

Addendum B

The Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina (FBCENC) will establish Kids Cafe Programs
throughout its service area. In addition to providing food and technical support,

1. The FBCENC will provide food for each Kids Cafe site at no cost or lower cost to the partner
   agency.

2. The FBCENC will supply utensils, non-food items, (i.e. soap, Clorox), and other equipment to
   be used solely for Kids Cafe.

3. The FBCENC will provide a program coordinator to assist in program planning.

4. The FBCENC will provide ongoing monitoring of the site and make recommendations to
   strengthen program.

5. The FBCENC will provide ongoing educational opportunities in nutrition, food handling and
   menu planning.

6. The FBCENC will develop a registration system and other forms to ensure organization and
   accountability.

7. The FBCENC will seek funding to support the operation of the Kids Cafe program.
