        William Gordon was born in about 1729. 1
        He was a medical doctor. 2
        He was married to Maria Lillie, who was a sister of Thomas and Nathaniel Lillie
of St. Croix. 3
        He was "Regimentfeltskær" for the West Indian troops, from 1760-1763.4
        He died on 23 September 1774, on St. Croix. 5 [However, he was buried in the
Christiansted Anglican churchyard on 5 November 1774, aged 45. 6 ]

       In 1841, he was a Shop Keeper, married and a Corporal in the Fire Corps. 31
       In October 1846, he was living with his family at 41 Queen’s Street, Frederiksted,
employed as a Sea Captain and a Corporal in the Frederiksted Fire Corps. 32       By
1850, he was dead. 33

       In 1857, 1860 & 1870 he was still resident at 41 Queen's Street, and he was going
to school. 46

          4. Julia Elizabeth [Gordon?] was born on 10 May 1837 and was baptized in the
St. Croix Danish Lutheran Church, Frederiksted, on 22 October 1837, as an illegitimate

         George Gordon was a Doctor of Medicine. It is not clear if he was related to Dr.
William Gordon above. 49
         He began practicing medicine on St. Croix in about 1755. 50
         He was married to Sarah Nahal. 51
         She died before him, and it was probably her estate which was settled on 29 July

1772.
         In 1772, he was living at 11 Northside A Quarter, with 20 capable slaves and 14
slaves under 12 years old. 53
         In 1774, he was still living at 11 Northside A Quarter. 54
         In 1775, he was living at 22 Prince's Quarter. 55
         He died on St. Croix on 5 April 1777. 56 The settlement of his estate was
continuing in July 1778. 57

         1. John Gordon was born on St. Christopher in 1756. 59
         He studied at English universities and received his doctor of medicine from
Glasgow University. 60
         He studied in Copenhagen from 1777 to 1780, and he received his citizenship in
1779.61
         He became the "Landfisikus" on St. Croix on the 8th November 1780 62 and was
still such in November 1788. 63
         He became a member of the Medical Society on 8 November 1780. 64
         He was the Garrison's surgeon from 23 November 1785 to 7 March 1806. 65
         He was married to Sara Towe rs, who was born on St. Croix in about 1764. 66
         In November 1788, they were living at 47b Company Street, Christiansted. 67
         He died on 27 January 1807, in Bath, England. 68 His heirs' house was at 3 Hill
Street, Christiansted. 69

was a Police Adjutant by profession and he also served as an Assistant in the Fire

       In 1815, she was listed as a mulatto, a member of the Lutheran Church, a
Seamstress by profession at living on East Street, Christiansted, with her two children,
Dorothea Elizabeth Gordon and Anna Maria Christian. 109
       She was still alive in May 1850, living at 6 East Street. 110

        She owned a slave named Caroline, who had a daughter named Anna Juliana
Muller, who was born on 12 October 1824 and was baptized in the Christiansted
Lutheran Mission Church on 25 December 1824.
        In 1850, she owned 6 East Street, Christiansted, where she lived, unmarried and a
Baker by profession. 115 In 1850, Anna Juliana Muller also lived at this property. 116
        She was still resident at 6 East Street in 1860, working as a Seamstress, but also
receiving a pension, 117 but by 1870, she no longer owned the house and was not resident
there, so she presumably had died. 118

        Unknown Gordon had a relationship with Susanna Buntin, who was born on St.
Croix in about 1803 and was baptized in the Anglican Church. 119
        In October 1846, she was living with her children (Smith & Gordon) at 14b
Strand Street, Frederiksted, where she was employed as a Seamstress. 120
