									Socio-Technical Systems Design
Chris Clegg

In this talk I will describe what we mean by socio-technical systems design and give
examples of its application in some applied projects. Examples will include
Heathrow Terminal 5, London Olympics 2012, the Rolls-Royce Engineering System,
and architectural design in Arup. I will also give an outline of the objectives,
aspirations, progress and projects of the Centre for Socio-Technical Systems Design
which was created in 2008/09 using Transformation Funds from the University of
Leeds. One of the objectives of the seminar is to explore opportunities for further
collaboration between the Centre and colleagues in Engineering.

You should attend if you have an academic and/ or practical interest in how we might
develop whole systems approaches to engineering design and problem-solving, one
that embraces an understanding of behavioiural and organisational issues.
