Rovers Destroy Hatfield. Harpenden Rovers entertained second from Bottom Hatfield at home, and with Rovers recent good form, Rovers were always confident of getting a win. The game started brightly, and with only seven minutes gone the Hatfield Keeper made a dreadful Blunder when he passed the ball to Rovers Striker Adam Price who calmly slotted home. On 15 minutes Centre Back Martin Smith scored probably the goal of the season when he chested a ball down, and 35 yards out, volleyed and unstoppable rocket past the keeper. However from the restart Rovers defence fell asleep and allowed Hatfield to pull one back. Five minutes before the break Rovers worked an excellent corner, which led to Haydn Williams striking the ball from 15 yards into the net. At half time Rovers made some changes as manager Jim Nicholls really wanted to push home there superiority. When the game restarted it did not take long to kill the game of with quick goals from, David Bounds (2), Martin Smith (2), and Adam Price (2). Rovers then introduced Dan Morris who also scored a Brace, and then double figures were achieved with an own goal five minutes, as Rovers ran out 10 (ten)-1 winners. Again Neil Cannons was outstanding, closely followed by David Bounds. Team: Goodwin, Ellis (Fox 45), Cannons, Smith, Foster, Williams, Chugg, Golds (Norris 75), Bounds, Price (Hamer 80), Adams. Rovers third Team went top of West Herts. Division two, with a 4-1 win against Oxhey Jets b, With Chris Coleman bagging yet another Brace, to notch up his 21st and 22nd of the season. Rovers Fourth Team lost 3-1 in a close encounter against Oxhey Reserves. Rovers Vets also deserved something out of their game narrowly loosing 2-1 to latymer Old Boys.
