                                    on august 4, 2004, Jason Crigler, one of new York City’s most sought-after guitarists,
nH Bureau of                        suffered an aVM brain hemorrhage during a concert in Manhattan. He was rushed to
                                    the hospital where doctors told Jason’s family, “even if he lives through the night, there

services                            family refused to accept the dire prognosis. Convinced that Jason was “in there” his family
                                    mounted an intensive and intimate course of rehabilitation that would force Jason’s doctors

                         in children has become an increasingly recognized diagnosis in pediatrics, with the incidence of stroke in the newborn
                         period rivalling the incidence seen in later childhood. strokes in the older child can be especially devastating, especially if
                         days pass before the correct diagnosis is made. newer approaches include state-of-the-art brain imaging, judicious use of
                         newer antithrombotic agents, and diagnosis of concurrent predisposing pediatric syndromes, and inherited and acquired
                         hypercoagulability states. a quintessential pediatric issue is how to manage the child at “high risk” of stroke: a child who has a
                         parent with stroke at age <55 and who shares multiple stroke risk factors with that parent.

                                present their story of brain injury to legislators and other government decision makers. it will review the logistical details of
                                letter writing, verbal presentation, identifying contact persons, scheduling and follow up activities.
