               Senior environmental scientist and unit manager : provides technical and strategic

Electricity Sector Projects

Projects in this sector were typically major projects of national importance. They
formed a significant portion of the unit’s activities due to good working relationship with
client. Developed the expertise to accurately identify, describe and evaluate potential
environmental (both biophysical and social) impacts.

•   Project manager : Environmental Impact Assessment for the proposed combined
    Cycle Gas Turbine Plant and Associated Infrastructure near Majuba, Mpumalanga

•   Project manager : Environmental Impact Assessment for the proposed new Ash
    Water Return Dam at the Arnot Power Station, Mpumalanga

•   Project manager : Environmental Impact Assessment for the proposed capacity
    increase of the Atlantis OCGT Plant and Associated Infrastructure, Western Cape
    Province

•   Project manager : Environmental Impact Assessment for the proposed new Coal-
    fired Power Station in the Lephalale area for Eskom, Limpopo Province

•   Project manager : Environmental Impact Assessment for the proposed
    Concentrated Solar Thermal Plant in the Northern Cape, Eskom

•   Project manager : Environmental Impact Assessment and Environmental
    Management Programme for the proposed Underground Coal Gasification plant,

Mining Sector

Through the following mining related projects have been exposed to the relevant
mining processes as laid out in the Minerals and petroleum Resources Development
Act (No 28 of 2002). Familiar with the requirements of ISO 14001 and related auditing
processes. Developed a working knowledge of the legislation and the inner workings
of the Department of Minerals and Energy

Developed a working knowledge of the relevant waste guidelines and other
environmental legislation. On the Eastern Cape Hazardous Waste Disposal Project
has facilitated good co-operation between three government departments regarding
the process followed and approval protocols.

    for the Proposed Regional General and Hazardous Waste Processing Facility in
    the Eastern Cape

•   Environmental consultant for an Environmental Screening of five potential landfill
    sites within the Metsweding District Municipality, Gauteng

Conscious of the importance for the development of sound policies and SMART
guidelines (specific, measurable, achievable, realistic/relevant, time defined). Within
these projects had the opportunity to enhance her skills in policy formulation.
