Lufthansa Cargo AG - Business Description

Lufthansa Cargo is one of the biggest cargo carriers in international air freight services. The company is engaged in the
provision of domestic and international air transportation cargo services. Lufthansa Cargo also manages the cargo
capacity of its parent company’s passenger aircraft and those of other airlines. It offers air freight and logistics services
and transports cargo and mail throughout the world. Its core business activity includes airport-to-airport cargo.

To offer air freight services, the company operates and manages a fleet of 19 MD-11F aircraft. It has several other
freighters on charter basis. Additionally, the company markets the belly capacities of all passenger aircraft operated by its
parent company, Deutsche Lufthansa AG. It operates from a hub in Frankfurt and from major bases in Leipzig and
Munich, Germany; New York; and Shanghai. The route network comprises about 300 destinations, which are served by
cargo and passenger aircraft as well as by trucking services.

Lufthansa Cargo offers its services under three broad areas, namely, td.Pro (general cargo), td.Flash (express segment)
and the Specials.

The company’s General Cargo segment, td.Pro comprises AirShip service, Fresh service, and BUP service. As part of its
Airship Service, it offers international multimodal AirShip service from the Europe to Australia. Its wide European network
enables the company to provide daily, direct connections into its hubs at Hong Kong and Shenzhen, which in turn, are
linked to the Australian seaports of Sydney, Brisbane, and Melbourne. As part of its Fresh service, the company offers
freight services for perishable and temperature-sensitive items, which do not require continuous temperature control. As
part of its BUP service, the company offers freight handling services.

The company’s Express segment, td.Flash handles exceedingly important and urgent shipments. In this segment, it offers
the fastest possible transport of the customers’ shipments. As part of this segment, the company offers Fresh service,
carrying items that do not require continuous temperature control, besides freight handling services and road feeder
Service. Its Express transport covers a network of 300 stations in over 90 countries worldwide.

The Specials product comprises six additional services, namely, Care/td to transport dangerous goods, Cool/td for
temperature-sensitive goods, Live/td for the transport of live animals, Safe/td 1 for valuable items, Safe/td 2 for theft-
endangered goods and cd.Solutions for the immediate delivery of consignments.

The company’s eServices offers a range of options such as efficient electronic booking via Lufthansa Cargo Internet for
air freight agents, Tracking with TrackIT, LCAG flight schedule and Routing Offer.

Lufthansa Cargo is focused on entering into strategic partnerships, towards strengthening its market position. In July,
2009, the company entered into a strategic partnership with Covenant Aviation Security, one of the leading private sector
agencies, to offer secured freight services to its customers. Under this agreement, the company would be able to expand
its existing services and also provide new services such as warehouse handling, consulting, security and dangerous
goods training, process engineering, and cargo-specific physical security services to its customers. The strategic
partnership has enough opportunity to derive benefits for the both the parties with starts of its operations.
