Vitec Group plc (Vitec) is an international group, which principally serves a range of customers in the broadcast,
photographic and military, aerospace and government (MAG) markets. It employs 2142 people.
The company organized its business activities into three segments, namely, Imaging and Staging, Videocom Division and
Services Division.
The company through the Imaging and Staging segment engaged in designing and manufacturing a range of products for
photographic, videography and live event markets. It also distributes in-house and third party photographic accessories.
Various products offered under the division includes photographic and video camera tripods and heads; lighting stands,
grips and accessories; lighting and scenery suspension equipment; camera bags; and live entertainment and exhibition
lighting suspension structures and staging systems. It also offers third party products such as flash units, light meters and
filters. These products are offered under various brands including Avenger, Tomcat, Litec, Brilliant Stages and Manfrotto.
During the fiscal year 2009, the revenue generated from this segment amounted to GBP 141.8 million, an increase of
4.42% compared to the previous fiscal.
Through Videocom segment, the company engages in designing and distribution of equipments to professional who are
involved in producing and transporting video content for the various global media industries, such as broadcast, film, live
events and education. Its range of products are offered under various brands, which includes Anton/Bauer, Autoscript,
The Camera Store, Litepanels, Microwave Service Company, Nucomm, OConnor, Petrol Bags, RF Central, Sachtler,
Vinten and Vinten Radamec. During the fiscal year 2009, the revenue generated from this segment amounted to GBP
147million, a decrease of 14.8% compared to the fiscal year 2008.
The company through its Services segment engages in providing a range of rental equipment and technical support for
the broadcast productions. It is a dealer for high-end audio equipment and provides comprehensive maintenance
services. It also offers fibre optic systems design and installation services along with resale of used broadcast hardware.
During the fiscal year 2009, the revenue generated from this segment amounted to GBP 26.3 million, a decrease of
10.2% compared to the fiscal year 2008.
Geographically, the company classifies its operations into four geographical segments, namely the UK, Rest of Europe,
Americas and Rest of the World. During the fiscal year 2009, the company generated GBP 21.6 million of total revenue
from the UK segment followed by Rest of Europe (GBP 74.9 million), Americas (GBP 167.1 million) and Rest of the World
(GBP 51.5 million) respectively.
Recently, the company entered into an agreement with HM Electronics, Inc to sell its Clear-Com business, including the
operations of Vitec Group Communications Ltd and Clear-Com Research Inc and its membership interest in Vitec Group
