The fees should be paid at the time of registration.
If paying by cheque please make them payable to: Al-Hijra Islamic School and attached with the
completed registration form.
To complete the registration these documents are required:
1. A copy of your child's Birth Certificate or a
Landed Immigrant Certificate
Student authorization form
2. A copy of your child’s immunization form
Please note that students enrolling in Gr. 1- 9 may be required to write a test for placement in a
suitable grade according to their age.

O' CANADA ANTHEM AND REMEMBRANCE DAY:
Please be advised that the Public School Act and the Dept. of Education regulations require
all students to sing "O Canada" at the opening of each school day. They also require students
to take part in the Remembrance Day exercises. Each school must hold Remembrance Day
exercises on the day prior to November 11th. If November 11th falls on a Sunday or a
Monday, the exercises are to be held on the preceding Friday.
CODE OF CONDUCT:
Al-Hijra Islamic School maintains a firm and caring “code of conduct” that is positive at all
times. This involves courtesy, respect, obedience, cooperation and safety.
It is expected that all parents will take appropriate measure in support of the school’s

Follow class rules and school regulations
Complete assignments on time and neatly
Maintain good study habits to the best of their ability
Important to remember that any class disruption, cheating, lying, rudeness, disobedience,
refusal to do assignments, fighting, throwing objects that could cause injury, or any other
improper behaviour can and will lead to suspension.

Extreme disruption in class or on the playground
Destruction or theft of school property
Continuous disregard for class and school rules
Profanity or vulgarity

A limited fund to help cover the tuition fee is available each year to those who need it. Interested
parents are required to submit a detailed statement of their financial status to the AIS School Board for
a confidential review. The financial aid is subject to review at the start of each year.

DRESS CODE AND SCHOOL UNIFORM POLICY
Our uniform policy is now in effect for the school year 2009-2010. Please refer to the booklet
enclosed in this registration package to order the uniform for your child. The policy regarding
the uniforms will be strictly enforced for all students.

RECOMMENDED STUDENT DRESS & APPREARANCE
Students should be properly attired in the Islamic manner upon entering the school building.
For boys: Hair should be neat and above the collar.
For girls: Hair should be styled to stay out of the eyes.
Shoes should cover the foot and must be sturdy enough for outdoor play. Sandals and open
toes shoes are not appropriate for school activities.
Extra clothing for Kindergarten children should be kept in school. For the "rest-time" parents
may supply a mat, a quilt and a toy.
PROHIBITED IN OUR SCHOOL
NO baseball caps or other hats should be worn in the school
NO jewellery (chains, necklaces, bangles, bracelets, rings, etc.)
NO shirts with pictures or writing on them
NO nail polish (or other make up)
NO Barbie dolls, guns or action figures (no toys from home)
Transportation is the responsibility of the parents. Car pooling arranged among parents is one
way to meet transportation needs. Please let the office secretary know if you are able to help
families that require transportation.
