New Functionalities

Propagating All Objects
          This functionality lets you propagate together all the modifications that have been made in the current session.
PLM User Information
          A new dialog box provides information about the current user's session.



Enhanced Functionalities

Capturing Simple Images
           Enhancements have been made to the captures modes available in the Capture toolbar.
Capturing Selected Areas of Images
           Enhancements have been made to the captures modes available in the Capture toolbar.
Running Batches Using the Batch Monitor
           The logon dialog box is no longer displayed when running CATUTIL.
           Removal of the Licensing Setup... button.
Propagating Objects
           Ergonomic enhancements have been made to the user interface to reflect the changes made to the propagation scopes.
Propagation Scope
           A new propagation scope lets you propagate any modified objects of any editors in the current session.
           The two existing propagation scopes are renamed.
Closing Objects
           No notification is displayed when all the modified objects of the editor about to be closed are also open in other editors that are still open in the
           session.
Exiting a Session
           Modifications can be either propagated or locally saved before exiting the session.
Using Ambiences
           More ambiences are available.
Running Batches Using the Batch Monitor
           More batches are available.
Setting Lighting Effects
           The default lighting parameters have been modified: the diffuse coefficient has been increased and the specular coefficient has been decreased.
Running the DownwardCompatibility Batch
           Ability to select Filter objects.
           A new option lets you store converted objects in database.
           When converting to a file, more capabilities are available.
Graphics Optimizer
           Options can now be activated through a dedicated interface.
Finding an Object in the Tree
           New behavior of the Center graph command when multiple objects are selected.
Selecting Using the Preselection Navigator
           When navigating with the keyboard arrows or when pointing at a long element name in the immersive list, a tooltip is displayed to show the full
           name of the preselected element.
Viewing Tools
           The SpacePilot PRO is now supported.
Using the Full Screen
           New way of running the command.



Customizing Settings

Identification
            The User defined identification string option is now the only option available in the Duplication section.
Navigation
            The rotation sphere display is now deactivated by default.
Visualization
            Full scene super sampling is now available and is activated by default.
Performance
            The Enable OpenGL local viewer lighting and Enable OpenGL Shader options are now activated by default.
            The default value of the curves' accuracy ratio has been modified.
            The default transparency quality has been modified.
Tree Manipulation
            The Display geometry during tree scrolling option is now activated by default.
                                                File-based Design Import

Enhanced Functionalities

Importing V5 Data by using Mapping Tables
           The FBDI Replace mode allows to import several times V5 elements and to update the already migrated data according to the new V5 definition.
           This new mode implies that Mapping Tables are stored in database.
Importing non-CATIA Documents in V6
           It is possible to import new extensions of non-CATIA documents. An absolute path will be used to manage the already imported non-CATIA
           documents.
Visualizing the Report
           The FBDI Report has been simplified and the import information are regularly saved. In particular, in Split mode, as soon as a documents'
           package is migrated, intermediate report summaries are provided to the user.
Importing a large amount of data through packages and on different computers
           The ability to launch the Split Import batch on several machines is provided to the user. Then sub-processes are automatically launched with
           parallelization on several machines. These processes are monitored by the Split Import process. Grid Computing allows performance gain on big
           calculation.



Customizing Settings

Sheetmetal Data Import
         A new tab called Sheet Metal exists in the Tools > Options > General > FBDI section. The administrators will have to proceed in different ways to
         have their V5 features generated in Sheetmetal Design and Sheetmetal Production workbenches imported in V6.

Import D5 Libraries into V6 Catalogs
         You can now import D5 libraries into V6 catalogs.



Customizing Settings

Auto-Correct Device Kinematics Conversion
          You can now select an option so that inconsistencies between D5 and V6 joints are automatically accounted for.
Tool Frame
          You can import tool frame data from V5. It is converted to the V6 axis systems. In addition, tool ports are created in V6 for each tool frame.
Coorsys
          You can import coorsys data.
Annotation & Dimensioning
          You can import annotation and dimensioning data from D5.

STEP import:
         The structure imported is a 3D Part.
IGES 3D import/export:
         The visibility status of instances is taken into account.
STEP export:

Customizing Settings

STEP: 3D Annotations
          Lets you import/export 3D annotations.
STEP: Validation Properties (VP)
          Lets you decide between Geometric or Assembly Validation Properties.
STEP: Global nested assembly or Partial nested assembly
          Let you activate a global or a partial export of nested assemblies.
IGES 3D: Import mode
          Has been modified to import IGES file to a 3D Part or a Product Structure.
DXF: Export blocks
          Enhances the export of details.

New Functionalities

Setting a Default Material Domain
           When a material contains several domains of the same type, you can specify a material domain.
Simulation Domain
           A simulation material domain is available and can be added for DesignSight simulations.



Enhanced Functionalities

Adding Material Domains
           You can add several linear elastic domains to an existing core material.
           You can add material domain even if you are not in the Material Editor workbench.
Using the Materials Palette
           You can customize the name of the materials displayed in the material palette and in the specification tree.
Material File-Based Design Import
           Materials applied to products and instances in V5 CATProduct documents can now be imported using the file-based design import mechanism.
Modifying Material Domain Properties
           PLM attributes are now available when you edit a material domain.
           Material domains can now be renamed by editing the material domain.

New Functionalities

Sharing with the Synchronizing Command
          This new capability lets you synchronize your representation of the shared feature that you simultaneously modify with another designer.
About Projects in the Asynchronous Mode
          You can structure a project, work on it and share data with the designers you work with even if they are not connected.



Enhanced Functionalities

About Working in a Product Context
          You can share the design tables used as support for the creation of certain features.
          You can share pattern features of which structures are simple.
Using the Merge Assistant
          A more interactive Merge Assistant is available.
Working with the Asynchronous Mode
          There are new recommendations for PLM Express users.

Show Related Objects for Systems and Operations


          Show Related Objects is now available on systems and operations (in addition to products, processes, and resources). This command returns the
          list of objects that are linked to the selected system or operation.


          For processes and resources, the nature of the returned objects is different from the previous release due to the layout of the new model.


          For products, behavior of the command remains unchanged.


Systems and Operations: Open, Explore, Explore parents, and Search


          You can search both systems and operations.


          You can open systems.


          You can navigate on both systems and operations, Explore and Explore Parents are available.


East Compass for Systems and Operations
         The East quadrant of the compass now gives information about implement links of systems and operations. The behavior available in previous
         release for process and resources is extended to systems and operations.
PPR Smart Completion for Systems and Operations


          PPR Smart Completion is now available on systems and operations (in addition to products, processes, and resources). It completes the current
          explore session with objects (processes and products) that are linked to the selected system or operation.


          For resources, the nature of returned objects is different from the previous release, due to the layout of the new model.


          For processes, behavior of the command remains unchanged.

            The user interfaces for filtering Catalogs has been unified.
Exporting and Importing a Catalog
            The As New option is now available when importing a Catalog in 3D XML format.
About Catalog Publish/Synchronize
            A CBP Document can now be synchronized and view as a classified object in a VPM Catalog.
Catalog File-based Design Import
            Catalogs with links to another Catalog are now imported such that the pointed Catalog will also be imported.

Mulitple Root Folder Editor
           The Multiple Root Folder Editor extends the functionality of the single Root Folder Editor by allowing you to work with many user-chosen root
           folders inside of one Multiple Root Folder Editor
                                        VPM Task Management
VPM Task Manager is used to request, define and track a modification to a product as tasks. The Tasks contain all the information (comments,
documentation, affected parts, configuration specifications, CAD/CAM models, electronic documents) necessary to implement and/or capture the
requested modifications.
All events that the tasks undergo (creation, promotion, transfer, completion, association of documents) are recorded and can be used to
communicate or track the progress of a modification throughout each of the tasks lifecycle or for later historical analysis.
                                                       VPM Impact Analysis
VPM Impact Analysis provides advanced capabilities to manage design impacts, including:


 q   facilitated relational design on 3D geometry, assemblies, drawings or any other PLM objects.
 q   graphical management and analysis of impacts and dependencies on any PLM entitites.
 q   efficient mechanism for opening PLM objects impacted by a design change for update.
                                                          Component Family
A Component Family is a concept that enables to generate and manage, in an easy and friendly manner, a set of physical parts or assemblies references, all
derived from a generic parametric definition altered for each element thanks to a table of values. The generation can be done on-demand, and the family
elements are provided to the End-User thanks to a catalog application.


This tools is used to:


 q   Define and manage families of standard parts (bolts, screws, balls bearings, etc.) provided by third parties, in order to make them available to the
     community building products on top of them.
 q   Define and manage the variability and standardization of home made components.

New Functionalities

Creating Imports
          This new capability enables you to have an accurate control of the destination of the import elements you create.


Deleting All Features Except the Selected Ones
          You can now choose to delete all features except the ones you selected through this new functionality.


Creating a Dynamic Section View
          You can now perform a Dynamic Sectioning through a new functionality.


Displaying and Modifying the Dimensions of a Feature Directly
          This new capability lets you quickly display and modify a feature's dimensions in the 3D area.

          A new note is now available: the colors on the Object to Sew will be kept.

About East Compass in Assembly Design Context
           The East Compass provides the Check mode for Assembly Design. This mode is dedicated for a global analyze of the update status.
About West Compass in Assembly Design Context
           The West Compass provides the Understand and Improve modes for Assembly Design. These modes are dedicated for a global analyze of the
           update status.
Constraint Symbols
           Constraint symbols appears in geometry area during the engineering connection creation or edition contexts.
Creating a Derived Representation
           This functionality allows you to stores, using a global import in an unique 3D Shape representation, geometries contained in an assembly product
           like PartBodies, Bodies, etc.
Creating an Assembly Added
           The Assembly Added feature allows you to add feature to 3D shape representations in an assembly.
Export of Engineering Connections in 3D XML
           Engineering Connections can be exported in 3dxml document with authoring.
Rerouting Assembly Symmetry
           This functionality allows you to reroute a symmetric product which has lost its original with a new one.

Assembly Design File-based Design Import
          Enhanced warning messages will appear during angle constraint import.
Constraint from Geometry Selection
          Point, Line and Plane from Generative Shape Design can be selected as support in an Engineering Connection.


          Continuous curves in 3D or contained in a sketch can be selected as support in an Engineering Connection.


          Definitions for Curvilinear distance, Roll Curve and Slide Curve have been added.


Creating Assembly Geometry
           The Automatically create new 3D Shape when there is none existing option allows you to launch directly the 3D Shape / Representation DS dialog
           box only when no representation exists under the active product.
Creating an Assembly Hole,
           The 3D shape representation creation for assembly feature support has been modified, you can create a new 3D shape representation or select an
           existing 3D shape representation.
Creating an Assembly Protected
           The 3D shape representation creation for assembly feature support has been modified, you can create a new 3D shape representation or select an
           existing 3D shape representation.
Creating an Assembly Split
           The 3D shape representation creation for assembly feature support has been modified, you can create a new 3D shape representation or select an
           existing 3D shape representation.
Edit Links and Relations Dialog Box
           The List with Details view has been removed and List view has been modified in order to display relations in a tree representation.


          Pointing Component, Pointed component and Context columns have been removed and replaced by Component / Relations / Links column.


          The Proposed action column has been added in order to solve broken relation and to propose a possible action according to the context.


          The new Apply proposed action command allows you to apply all proposed actions in the Proposed action column.


About Engineering Connection
          The contextual engineering connection defined now the context information. Previously, the context definition was contained in the first common
          product to the components involved in the engineering connection.
Engineering Connection Definition Dialog Box
          New engineering connection types can be created: Gear, Cable , Rack, Roll Curve and Slide Curve.


          New constraints can be created: Curvilinear distance, Roll Curve and Slide Curve.
          A warning mask can now appear on all controlled constraints when a constraint leads to an unpredictable state.


          The Simulation tab has been added in order to define connection properties of an engineering connection.


Geometry in Constraint Definition
         Point, Line and Plane from Generative Shape Design can be selected as support in an Engineering Connection.


          Continuous curves in 3D or contained in a sketch can be selected as support in an Engineering Connection.

New Functionalities

View geometry upgrade
         You can now upgrade geometry in views, which will let you benefit from the latest technological enhancements brought to sketched geometry in
         V6.
Drawing export to 3D XML
         When exporting an interactive drawing to 3D XML with Authoring, no data is exported along with the drawing.



Enhanced Functionalities

Welding symbol definition associative to 3D weld
          It is now possible to create welding symbols associative to the original weld 3D specification (defined in Weld Design).



Customizing Settings

Tools > Options > Mechanical Design > Drafting > Administration tab > Prevent View Geometry Upgrade
          This option deactivates the Geometry Upgrade contextual command (used to upgrade sketched geometry in views) which is available for
          drawings, layouts, sheets and views.
Tools > Options > Mechanical Design > Drafting > Annotations and Dress-up > Welding Display Mode > Last Update Failed
          When this option is selected, the chosen color is used to display welding symbols for which the last update was unsuccessful.
                                                          Generative Drafting

New Functionalities

Computing the drawing PLM update status
          Computing the drawing PLM update status consists in querying the PLM database in order to know whether a drawing is up-to-date or not.
          You can now compute the drawing PLM update status using the drawing update PLM batch, or using the search results window.
Drawing export to 3D XML
          When exporting a generative drawing to 3D XML with Authoring, a certain amount of data is exported along with the drawing.
Generation of weld representations
          Weld features defined in 3D in the Weld Design workbench can now be represented symbolically in drawings using Generative View Styles.
          Furthermore, weld representations can now be annotated and dimensioned.



Enhanced Functionalities

Generative Drafting view specification tree
            - You can now display the main specifications of generative views (such as section profile, breakout definition, clipping), as well as view callouts,
            in the specification tree. This lets you catch a glimpse of the structure of a drawing and access these specifications easily.
            - These elements support profile edition commands, as well as all commands traditionally available in the contextual menu (Delete, Cut/Copy/
            Paste, Reframe On, etc.).
            - You can paste the specifications of a view to another one.
            - The Unbreak, Unclip, Remove Breakout, Apply Breakout to and 3D Clipping commands can now be found under the View Definition contextual
            sub-menu.
            - New masks (Update error and View from) are now displayed in the specification tree.
Offset Constraint for Section Profile
            When defining an aligned section profile or an offset section profile, you can now use an offset constraint to position the profile associatively to
            the 3D geometry.
Product filtering in views
            Drawing generation is now enhanced through the definition of volumic filters and perforating filters (PVS).



Customizing Settings

Tools > Options > Mechanical Design > Drafting > Display tab > Tree area
          These options let you specify which elements you want to display in the specification tree.
Tools > Options > General > File-based Design Import > Drafting tab > Import of views linked to bodies contained in different CATPart documents area
          The Automatically create a new product reference lets you create a new product reference when importing V5 views linked to bodies contained in
          different CATPart documents.

Creating a Positioned Sketch
          You can now enter the Sketcher workbench through the Positioned Sketch icon.

Deleting All Features Except Selected Ones
          This new capability lets you delete all the features of a representation, except those you want to keep.
Creating Remove Face Features
          This new capability lets you simplify 3D shapes when they are too complex for finite elements analyses.
Displaying and Modifying the Dimensions of a Feature Directly
          This new capability lets you quickly display and modify a feature's dimensions in the 3D area.
Creating 2D View Sections
          This new capability lets you create 2D view sections which is a set used as a means to visualize geometry details along multiple section planes
          and that can contain all types of GSD features.
Creating Dynamic Section View
          This new capability enables you to obtain a 3D section view of the part.
Creating Chamfers
          This new capability allows you to create two chamfers by selecting two edges
Creating Imports
          This new capability enables you to have an accurate control of the destination of the import elements you create.

Creating Points
           A new Distance along direction option is available when creating a point on a curve
Creating Multiple Points and Planes
           You can now choose the repetition mode between Absolute and Relative.
Creating Conic Curves
           The Default Parabolic Result check box lets you create a parabolic conic curve.
About Parallel Curves
           You can now use two law parameters (Linear or S type) when creating several curves.
Creating Extruded Surfaces
           A new Mirrored Extent option enables to create a mirrored surface
Creating Cylindrical Surfaces
           A new Mirrored Extent option enables to create a mirrored surface
Creating Fill Surfaces
           You can now define a fill surface using inner boundaries.
           You can select a continuity type for each support surfaces.
           You can now select curves as passing elements.
Creating Variable Offset Surfaces
           You can now select the offset law type between Linear and S type.
Working with a 3D Support
           You can now select the type of the visible area between Finite and Infinite and define which area is to be visualized from the origin point for each
           of the three grids.
           A new Furtive grids option lets you see the grids only when they are parallel to one of the three planes of the 3D support.
Selecting Using Multi-Output
           All common inputs are now directly aggregated under the Multi Output feature.
Managing the Background Visualization
           You can select an annotation text that will be used to determine a plane.
Analyzing Using Parameterization
           A new filter is available called All Axis Systems.
Isolating Geometric Elements
           All GSD features can now be isolated.
Repeating Objects
           You can now choose the repetition mode between Absolute and Relative.
           You can now activate both Repeat and Datum modes at the same time.
Creating Extruded Volumes
           A new Mirrored Extent option enables to create a mirrored volume
Creating Annotations
           3D Functional Tolerancing & Annotation functionalities are now available in the Generative Shape Design workbench.

PLM Customizations by Rules
         Some new functionalities have been added to allow you to use the KnowHow PLM Authoring workbench in order to create Business Rules.

New Functionality

Knowledge Patterns
         A Knowledge Pattern is a feature that enables you to instantiate templates or datums into CATPart documents in batch mode (without user
         interaction). It also enables you to manage the instantiated objects in an associative way.

Enhanced Functionalities

Exploring a Simulation
          The simulated model (including the 3D representation and the corresponding excitations) stored in the Scenario category can be visualized
          through relevant 3D thumbnails (in 3D navigation views).
Using the East Quadrant Compass
          Scenario input data for simulations are color-shaded with orange when the East Quadrant compass is selected.
                                                       Mechanism Design

New Functionalities

Manual DOF updates
          When working in the Mechanism Manager, you can disable the automatic calculation of available degrees of freedom to improve performance.
Editing engineering connections in the Mechanism Manager
          If you right-click an engineering connection in the Mechanism Manager, a new Edit option allows you to modify the connection's definition.



Enhanced Functionalities

Mechanism Edition toolbar
           The Mechanism Design workbench has been replaced by the Mechanism Edition toolbar, allowing you to create and simulate mechanisms within
           the context of the Assembly Design workbench.
New engineering connections
           The following engineering connections can now be included as joints in a mechanism: Roll Curve, Slide Curve, Gear, Rack, Cable.
Selecting engineering connections by product
           When working in the Mechanism Manager, you can highlight all of the engineering connections associated with a particular product by selecting
           the product in the specification tree.
Automatic creation of commands
           When you create a mechanism representation for a product, mechanism commands are created automatically based on the controlled constraints
           in the product.
                                                             Process Definition

Enhanced Functionalities
Live Process Editor: Work List and F5 List
           The functionalities available from these lists are enhanced, such as display of assigned and unassigned parts in the Work list, and sort capability
for names in the Work list and F5 list.
Live Process Editor: Setting for Automatic activation of Smart Zoom
           You to now enable automatic activation of the Smart Zoom when navigating (zooming) through the process structure. The Automatic activation
option is not set by default. Smart Zoom is still available by pressing the F6 key.
Live Process Editor: Work Delegation of Products and Parts for Process Detailing
           Improved work delegation is now possible thanks to the following capabilities:
 q   Possibility to deactivate the automatic assign of an opened Product to the root Process when switching to the Process Definition workbench
 q   Assign a Product to a Generic or Produce process by drag and drop
 q   Assign a Part to a Generic or Produce process by drag and drop.
Live Process Editor: New Visualization Modes
          New visualization modes are provided in the Live Bar to filter the display as follows:
 q   Only the parts concerned are visible
 q   The parts concerned are visible and the others are transparent
 q   All parts are visible (this was the behavior in previous version).

                                                    Tool Selection Assistant
The Tool Selection Assistant product enables users to select tools, such as weld guns, while verifying that the tool selected will work for the specific process.
In evaluating the feasibility of using a specific tool, the Tool Selection Assistant searches a weld gun catalog to report on the incidence of clashes. In
addition, users can take 2D sections of the fasteners on the parts with weld guns.


Tool Selection Assistant is an add-on product that can run on either prerequisite Manufacturing Planning > Process Definition or Robotics > Device Task
Design and does not require both, so the toolbar's are different for each product.
                                                               Device Building
Device Building provides a complete set of tools for modeling mechanical systems that are typically used in the manufacturing process. Such systems
include robotic end-effectors (grippers, weldguns, etc.), positioning devices, stamping presses, milling machines, lathes, tracked vehicles, industrial robots,
NC machines and coordinate measuring machines (CMMS). The target is generic modeling of forward-kinematic devices that can be driven in joint
coordinates and inverse-kinematic devices that can be driven in cartesian toolpoint coordinates.


Device Building allows you to define a mechanical system in terms of rigid bodies (called parts) and articulated joints. The parts may originate from CATIA,
DELMIA, or other CAD sources. The joints may characterize a combination of mechanical constraints (such as rotation about a fixed axis) and geometric
constraints (such as following the surface of a part). Finally, the mechanical system may include closed-kinematic loops, where a collection of parts forms a
closed chain. The motion of these closed-kinematic loops may be automatic as a result of an internal iterative closed kinematic system solver or may be
through explicit your defined symbolic relational expressions.


After a device has been created, you may define a set of predefined positions (called "home positions") and a timetable to be used when moving between
them. You can also set up device attributes such as joint travel limits and speed and acceleration limits. Tools are provided to directly manipulate the joints
of a device or the cartesian toolpoint coordinates and observe the resulting configuration. Basic display attributes such as color, display mode, etc., will also
be set at the device level.


It is expected that tool designers and simulation engineers will make excellent use of this product.
                                                        Device Task Design
Device Task Design provides tools for 3D modeling at the workcell level. This provides all the tools required to perform robotic feasibility studies and
programming in an environment where product data and manufacturing resources can be integrated into a single 3D model. This model performs the basis
for the development of robotic processes. Device Task Design allows you to test for robot reach and access in a complex manufacturing workcell. It provides
tools for the development of robot programs and facilities to test those programs while checking for interferences. The output of Device Task Design is a
workcell model that is ready for the next step: development of a complete manufacturing simulation with synchronization of all resources.


These models can consist of a combination of multiCAD product models, legacy DELMIA D5 devices, and general CATIA resource models. Device Task Design
interacts with Plant Layout so that users can either re-use the plant model or modify it.


Robot tasks and tag definitions for robot motion are integral to Device Task Design. Users can create tags and add them to tasks or can create tags in free
space for clearance moves.


Device Task Design provides interactive jogging and robot teaching capabilities to develop and test robot tasks. These tasks can be simulated, one at a time.
In addition to the basic setup commands, Device Task Design contains analysis tools. These tools add the following capabilities:


 q   basic measuring of distances and angles
 q   collision and band width analysis.
                                                Realistic Robot Simulation
Realistic Robot Simulation (RRS) is an add-on product for the Factory Layout and Robotics product configuration.


Realistic Robot Simulation (RRS) allows a simulation software (CAR system) to interface with the RCS (Robot Controller Simulation) module, the robot
manufacturer's proprietary motion planning software. This direct interaction provides greater accuracy in motion trajectory as well as cycle time.


Once RRS is enabled for a robot, RRS Operations command will allow you to invoke the following functionality on the RRS robot based on selecting the
corresponding tab page in the RRS Operations dialog:


• Get robot stamp


• Save/Load RCS data (degree of support dependent on RCS support)


• Enable/disable RRS debug log generation by the RCS module


• Displaying of robot's RRS (connection etc.) parameter settings

Robotics Offline Programming is an add-on product for the DELMIA Robotics Detailing product configuration.


Offline Programming (OLP) allows users to translate their V6 robot tasks into robot controller-specific programming languages. Conversely, users may load
programs written in robot controller-specific languages into V6 and have their programs converted into V6 robot tasks.


In addition to DELMIA-developed translators, DELMIA OLP offers an open architecture that allows customers to create their own translators.
                                                               Spot Welding
Spot Welding provides a complete set of tools for weld analysis, spot welding specific trajectory authoring and optimization in order to create downloadable
Spot welding tasks. All spot welding commands support both air guns and servo guns.
