                 Concrete Pavements
Objectives (Hilton off N3)
Investigate the influence of the environment
and load on joint deterioration (improve cncPave)
     • Plain aggregate interlock joints
     • Doweled joints
     • On 2 aggregate types

HVSIAmeeting.24-26August2005 Gautrans HVS Programme. Elzbieta Sadzik
                   Concrete Pavements
 Conclusions (Hilton off N3):
Harder aggregate results in better long term
      performance
Crack width depends on shrinkage but temp
      and humidity are crucial
Load transfer through dowels shows a small
      change with loading
Good bond between sub base and slab
      improves performance
Void underneath the slab is a function of
deflection, load transfer at the joint and
      erodibility of sub base
HVSIAmeeting.24-26August2005 Gautrans HVS Programme. Elzbieta Sadzik
