M1     EMERGENCY MEDICINE
       Registrars in Emergency Medicine(9 months ED,3 months ITU)
       Senior House Officers (6 months ED)

       ALSO: 1 X Registrar and 1 X SHO vacancy to commence immediately.

The Emergency Department at the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital is one
of the busiest units in the country and is led by three Consultants in Emergency
Medicine whom provide a teaching environment and computerised clinical audit
programme for NCHD’s. Currently the NCHD staff compliment includes 2 Interns,
12 SHOs, 4 Registrars and 3 Specialist Registrars in Emergency Medicine. There
is a formal induction course to emergency medicine supplemented by shop floor
training and a weekly protected teaching programme provided off site. The post
provides opportunities to gain experience in Emergency Medicine, Trauma,
General Medicine and Surgery.

The SHO posts are suitable for doctors intending to pursue a career in Emergency
Medicine, Surgery, Medicine and General Practice. The Emergency Consultants

       Recruitment of Medicine for the Elderly Registrars will be conducted jointly
       between Connolly Hospital/St. James’s Hospital/St Vincent’s University
       Hospital/ The Adelaide and Meath Hospital incorporating the National
       Children’s Hospital (AMNCH),

      Hospital, The Adelaide and Meath Hospital incorporating the National
      Children’s Hospital (AMNCH), University College Hospital Galway, and Cork
      University Hospital, Mercy University Hospital and South Infirmary/Victoria
      University Hospital.
      Interviews will take place in The Mater Misericordiae Hospital on 2 nd March,
      2010.

      between Beaumont Hospital, St. James’s Hospital, Mater Misericordiae
      Hospital, Blackrock Hospice, St. Brigid’s Hospice and the Adelaide and
      Meath Hospital incorporating the National Children’s Hospital (AMNCH).
      Interviews will take place in AMNCH Tallaght on 26th February, 2010.

      Ophthalmology SHO Posts rotating between Mater Misericordiae University
      Hospital, Galway University Hospital and Waterford Regional Hospital. This is a
      three year rotation (subject to satisfactory 6 monthly appraisals).

      These posts are approved for training by the Irish College of Ophthalmologists as
      part of the national basic specialist training scheme.

M15   ORTHOPAEDIC SURGERY

M17    ANAESTHESIA TRAINING POSITIONS
       Registrars/SHO’s

Applications are invited for Anaesthesia Training Positions at the Mater University
Hospital commencing 1st July 2010. The Mater University Hospital is a major
academic teaching hospital affiliated to University College Dublin. It is the National
tertiary referral center for Cardiothoracic and Spinal Surgery. The department
offers a comprehensive modular teaching and training programme of relevance to
pre and post fellowship trainees.

M18    CHILD AND ADOLESCENT PSYCHIATRY
       Registrar(s)

These positions are located in the Mater community based CAMHS teams and are for an
initial 6-month duration. They would suit psychiatry trainees wishing to pursue a career in
Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. Possession of MRC Psych. Part I is essential and Part II
preferable for this post.

M19    ADULT PSYCHIATRY

       Special Lecturer/Registrar (MRC Psych. or equivalent required)

       Clinical duties will be at the Mater Hospital. The successful candidate will
       have a major involvement in teaching, clinical work and research in the
       Mater Misericordiae Hospital. It is anticipated that time spent in this post will
       be credited for higher specialist training if the successful candidate applies
       from a Senior Registrar post or subsequently obtains such a post.
