Bryan Herta on the Acura Sports Car Challenge of St. Petersburg:
“St. Pete has become a race I really look forward to each year. I personally really love the street
races, and the venue at St. Pete proved to be great for sports cars last year in the first Acura Sports Car
Challenge. Obviously with my team also promoting the race, Acura as the title sponsor, and XM being a
major sponsor of the event, I am a little extra busy on the PR side but the atmosphere and excitement of the
race are second to none.”

Bryan Herta Facts
 • This is Herta’s second start at St. Petersburg in an ALMS car. Herta finished seventh in class in the
2007 Acura Sports Car Challenge after his teammate made contact with another car.
 • Herta made two starts at St. Petersburg in the IndyCar Series in 2005 and 2006. In both races, Herta

finished fourth. He sat on the pole position for the 2005 Honda Grand Prix.
 • Herta teamed with Christian Fittipaldi and Marco Andretti at the season opening 12 Hours of Sebring.

 • In 2007, Herta was aided by teammates Tony Kanaan and Dario Franchitti as the trio drove to victory
in the first ALMS start for AGR and for Acura at the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring.
 • With the 2007 victory at Sebring, Herta and teammates Tony Kanaan and Dario Franchitti became the
only three drivers in history to win an IndyCar Series race, a CART race and an American Le Mans
     Series race.
 • Herta had 10 starts in ALMS in 2002 with Panoz Motorsports that included five top-five finishes.
 • Herta has five career major American racing wins including two in the IndyCar Series and two in

Christian Fittipaldi on the Acura Sports Car Challenge of St. Petersburg:
“The only experience I have of the St. Petersburg race course is from watching. Bryan (Herta) and I
have definitely spoken about the race and the track, though. We have our track walk on Thursday evening
so Bryan is going to try and help and that will definitely accelerate my process of learning the track. A race
track is a race track and I’ve been doing this for 25 years so it isn’t going to be any different than normal.

“I think, with all the data the team has, and with Bryan helping me, it’s going to be relatively simple to
pick up. I’ve always liked street courses but I’m especially excited because Bryan keeps telling me that the
XM Acura is very, very good on street courses. It was good in St. Pete last year and Long Beach, as well, so
I think we have two races ahead of us that look very promising. We were very quick in Sebring but I think we
can be in a stronger position on the street courses than we were in Sebring.”

Christian Fittipaldi Facts
 • The 12 Hours of Sebring event was Fittipaldi’s first start in the American Le Mans Series.
 • This is Fittipaldi’s first start at St. Petersburg.
 • Fittipaldi spent 11 seasons driving open-wheel race cars in Formula One and CART.
 • He recorded victories at Road America in 1999 and at Fontana in 2000.
 • Fittipaldi is one of four drivers in the AGR stable to have earned the Indianapolis 500 Rookie of the
                                                                                           ®

Year award. He scored the award with a second-place finish in his only start at the track in 1995.
 • Fittipaldi has also driven in the A1 GP, the NASCAR Cup Series and Nationwide Series, as well as the
     Grand-Am Series.

Steve Newey, Race Engineer, #26 XM Satellite Radio Acura,
on the Acura Sports Car Challenge of St. Petersburg:
“We are looking forward to returning to St. Pete because we were very competitive there last year
until an on-track incident put the XM Acura out of the race. Christian Fittipaldi has not raced there before so
there will be a steep learning curve for him. Bryan (Herta) knows the track well and was quick last year. The
2008 version of the XM Acura should be well suited to the circuit.”
