Google Apps is a suite of Google applications that brings together essential services which can result in
significant time and cost savings for your Life Saving Club. It is a free hosted service that lets
organisations use a variety of Google products, including Gmail, Google Docs, Google Sites, Google
Calendar, and Google Talk on a unique domain (e.g. www.examplelifesavingclub.com.au).

For instance, if you own the domain examplelifesavingclub.com and you sign up for the free Google
Apps services, all office bearers at your club will receive:
    • A custom email address (clubtitle@examplelifesavingclub.com.au)
    • Tools for word processing
    • Spreadsheets and presentations
    • A shared calendaring system
    • Tools for creating web pages and sites for your business
    • Access to a flexible intranet system

With Google Apps, your Lifesaving Club can create up to 50 email accounts on your domain (for
example president@examplelifesavingclub.com.au). Life Saving Clubs are encouraged to download
Google Apps as it reduces the administration associated with new appointments or departures of office
bearers, offers unified communication by giving office bearers email addresses of
‘clubtitle@examplelifesavingclub.com.au’. In addition, this unification improves the professional
appearance of you club, while making it easier for members and the public to recognise and contact your
club.


Our club doesn’t have a Google Apps account – how do we sign up?
If you haven't signed up your club’s domain with any of the Google Apps services, please complete the
signup form: https://www.google.com/a/cpanel/domain/new


Our club doesn’t have a domain – can we still join?
It’s easy and inexpensive to get a custom domain and start building your clubs website presence. Your
domain will be automatically configured to work with Google services including Google Sites and Gmail
for custom email addresses. The cost of one year registration is minimal and includes the following
benefits at no additional cost:
     • Google Apps Standard Edition pre-configured for your domain, including Google Sites and Gmail
         for custom email addresses.
     • Full DNS control and management
     • Private registration to protect your personal information
     • Domain locking to protect you from unauthorized domain transfers

What services are provided with a Google Apps Standard Addition account?
  • Gmail: Each user at your domain will get a Google Apps email account branded with your clubs
       domain name. Benefits include:
              o Mail can be forwarded to a personal account or accessed on a mobile device.
              o Improved mailing list capabilities

                o   Increased mail thresholds offering over 7 GB of storage per user

   •   Google Calendar: A web-based calendar application that can be made private or published
       online. The ability to link back to an Outlook calendar is also available. Benefits include:
                o Easily schedule appointments
                o Integrate into your email system
                o Easily embedded calendars into your clubs website

   •   Google Sites: An easy way to create a public web page or club intranet. Benefits include:
              o Google Sites works in the browser on PC, Mac and Linux computers.
              o No coding or HTML required.

   •   Google Docs: Web-based documents, spreadsheets, drawings and presentations that let users
       edit the same file at the same time so you always have the latest version. Benefits include:
                o Google Docs works in the browser on PC, Mac, and Linux computers, and supports
                   popular formats such as .doc, .xls, .ppt, and .pdf.
                o Administrators can manage file sharing permissions system-wide, and document
                   owners can share and revoke file access at any time.
