Renaissance Artists and Scholars on facebook!
Your task is to create a facebook page for your artist or scholar—as if they were living today—that fully
expresses his humanist ideals. In order to do this, you must work together as a group, gathering information
from our Cornell Notes, our textbooks, and the web.
We’ve created a format for your facebook page which you will find in this packet. We want you to be
creative in your choice of profile information—but also stick to the guidelines we’ve set forth. You will
present your facebook page to the rest of the class, so please include only relevant information to help
your classmates learn about your Renaissance scholar or artist.
*You will be turning in this packet the day you present your facebook profile.
*Presentations are scheduled for Friday, September 10.
*You will be receiving an INDIVIDUAL grade for this assignment.
Please use the checklist below to help you stay on track and complete your assignment in the allotted
amount of time.

Part I Cornell Notes
Directions: Please complete the following Cornell Notes on each of the four Renaissance artists
and scholars. You will need to know basic information about each one in order to
complete your assignment.
Part II Group Assignments
Directions: Please complete the chart of the assigned roles in your group.

Directions: Please read below to learn what the expectations are for your individual
contributions to the group. Please use the format on the next page as a guide to
what your facebook profile should look like, what information it should contain,
and who in the group is responsible for what.
1.1 Team Leader – this person is responsible for keeping other group members on task. This person
is also the representative for the group, and will be in charge of communicating
with the teachers any questions or concerns of the group.
The team leader is responsible for research pertaining to the following:
o First and Last Name, and Status
o Basic Information
o Personal Information
o Contact information
2. Layout Specialist – this person is responsible for creating the layout on the large piece of butcher
2 paper (use the example included in this packet). This person is in charge of
communicating with layout specialists from at least 2 other groups to coordinate
wall posts (there will be a specific time when layout specialists will be permitted to
meet and discuss wall posts).
The layout specialist is responsible for research pertaining to the following:
o Groups
o Wall

3. Research Expert – this person is in charge of approving all that is written on the piece of butcher
paper, including wall posts from other groups. This person is in charge of making
sure all information included on the facebook profile relates to the group’s specific
artist or scholar.
The Research Expert is responsible for research pertaining to the following:
o Profile picture o Causes
o Friends o Events
o Gifts o Quizzes

Part III Research
Directions: To find information about your artist or scholar, use the “Renaissance Scholars and
Artists” Cornell Notes, pages 35-53 in your textbook, as well as links on Ms.
Hoppenjans’s portaportal webpage.
Please use the format on the next page as a guide to know what sort of information you need to
research. Use the chart below to record your research.
To research using the internet:
1) Type in: www.portaportal.com
2) Login as a guest using the password ―ahoppenjans‖
3) Find the folder labeled ―Renaissance Facebook‖
4) Click on the appropriate links for your Renaissance artist or scholar (they will be labeled with his
name)
