Below are the instructions for my new Google Earth Waypoint converter program, it converts
waypoints from Google Earth into the AUAV waypoint manager format.
You will need to put them in a subfolder called GOOGLE EARTH FILES under the DeLorme
Docs folder and use the Google Earth Waypoint converter program to convert them into the
AUAV waypoint manager format "DrawExport.txt" it will automatically save the new converted
file to the C: DeLorme Docs /Draw folder and call it DrawExport.txt.
NOTE: 1 To use the AUAV GOOGLE EARTH WAYPOINT CONVERTER.exe you will need
to have Google Earth Version. 5 installed on your computer. It is your responsibility make sure
that you have the correct license for using Google Earth.
NOTE: 2 For the AUAV GOOGLE EARTH WAYPOINT CONVERTER.exe file to run you
must have Net Framework 2.0 dotnetfx.exe installed on your computer. If you don't have it on
the computer go to Microsoft's web site at
aab15c5e04f5&displaylang=en and down load NET FRAMEWORK 2.0 dotnetfx.exe.
After downloading double click the dotnetfx.exe file it will self install just follow the on screen
Step: 1 Create a folder on your computer and call it DeLorme Docs
Step: 2 Under the DeLorme Docs create the following folders

Use Notepad to create a blank text file that will be used as a boilerplate save it to the GOOGLE
EARTH FILES folder, you will use this boilerplate every time you create a new route so call it
Open Google Earth and find the point on earth where you would like to create a route, next at the
top left side of Google Earth click "Add" this will bring up a pull down menu then click on
"Path", this will open a popup window called "Google Earth-New Path" In the Name window
type in a new name for the route lets call it "New Route" DO NOT CLICK "OK" at this time.
NOTE: 3 Don't worry if your waypoint lines are not perfectly straight you can go back and edit
them later, for now just get the feel for creating a route. Hint use the Lot/Lon Grid as a glide to
help keep your lines straight the Lot/Lon Grid is under the View button at the top of the screen.
You are going to create a box so move the mouse curser over to the point on the map where you
want the first waypoint to be and click. Next move the mouse curser straight up and click for the
2nd.waypoint, then move it to the left and click for the 3rd. waypoint then straight down for the
4th.waypoint and over to the right for the 5th. and last waypoint DO NOT click on top of the first
waypoint click next to it. Next click on the popup window click "OK" this saves the new route in
Places at the left of the screen.
Under Places find new route and right click it then select copy, next open the blank Notepad text
file called "route_boilerplate_1.txt." that you created in step:3 and past the contents of the New
Route onto the blank page now save it to the GOOGLE EARTH FILES folder as New
Route.txt. You now have all of the waypoint save in the GOOGLE EARTH FILES folder as
New Route.txt next we will convert the waypoint from the Google Earth format to the AUAV
Using Window Explorer go to the DeLorme Docs /Draw folder and look for a file called
DrawExport.txt. If its there rename it to DrawExport old.txt.
Using Window Explorer Open the DrawExport old.txt. file and look at it, there should be 5 sets
of waypoints in it. Close it
Again Using Window Explorer go to the AUAV GOOGLE EARTH WAYPOINT CONVERTER folder
and double click on the AUAV GOOGLE EARTH WAYPOINT CONVERTER.exe file.
The AUAV GOOGLE EARTH WAYPOINT CONVERTER should open, Click the file
command at the upper left of the screen then click on OPEN FILE, use the popup box to go to
the GOOGLE EARTH FILES folder that you created in step: 3 and open the file called New
Route.txt After opening the New Route.txt you should see the data in the display window.
Note: Later you will name the New Route.txt files with names that are relevant to the routes that
Click on the Green "Click Here To Convert And Save The File" Button. The display window
should clear. Using Window Explorer go to the DeLorme Docs /Draw folder and look for the
file called DrawExport.txt, Using Window Explorer Open the DrawExport.txt. file and look at it,
there should be a new sets of waypoints in it.
NOTE: 4 Any time you convert a set of waypoints the WAYPOINT CONVERTER will save the
file as DrawExport.txt. That is all there is to it.
With a little practice making new routes you should be able to create and convert a new route in
just a few minutes.
