CMPT 125 Labs are only on Fridays at the Surrey Campus. I can't combine that with any classes so I have to make the commute for that small lab.
There were even more courses I wasn't able to sign up for -- more than the 5 available spaces I was allowed to identify on the survey. Most of the courses I wanted
conflicted in time; as in, the lectures were all at exactly the same time, while others overlapped for an hour or so.
I hate this system. It doesn't work unless you only do one focus and have no exceptions. Figure it out. It's my fifth year.
'Digital signal processing class (AKA. Discrete time systems) in ENSC is a key subject in signal processing engineering course even though it may not be
prerequisites to any preceeding studies. I wish it to be available in one of fall or spring semesters, not only summer semester.
you need to offer more psyc courses, I find that I have already taken most of them and needed to take more for my degree, and although there are several ones
that I want to take they are never offered. They also need to make them earlier in the day bus schedules and work make it difficult to take evening courses.
There is only one MOS class being offered in the summer! Has SFU gone insane?? What about Bus 488 and the BUEC class?? I just hope that the Bus 484 does
not conflict with BUs 442, or I won't be able to graduate because of one class!
we can always use more courses, makes the selection better. and were is Enviro Toxicology 2? Thanks
Supposingly the courses mentioned above (Bus380 & 432) would be offered; however, the chair of IB suddenly decided to cancel the sessions, thus, delaying my
graduation dates.
all the other ENGL199 classes conflict with my other classes that i am already enrolled in. ENLG 199 #13333 is the only one i can make. Thanks.
Should have more upper division options for Ling majors and no courses overlapping since only major or minor would be taking these classes.
I can't enroll in psych 210 because i haven't completely finished psych 201, which i'm currently in (Fall 2005). This is kind of stupid!
Most of the courses I need/want are offered in the Spring. Very few in Summer and Fall, I battle to find enough relevant courses in these two semesters
Why am I blocked from enrollment when I have paid my fees
I have heard CMNS 321 has not been available for many years. I wondering why this is, because many students I know would love to take it and have wanted to
for so long.
I am a second degree student & find it very difficult to get into the classes I need to finish my degree in a reasonable amount of time. This is my fourth semester of
trying to get into EDUC-322 & not being able to as it is required for almost every education & counselling student at the university & each semester, though it's
offered, there are only 35-50 spots open! That's ridiculous considering the number of students who are required to take the course! If I can't get registered in the
class with an enrollment appointment on the third day of enrollment because it was filled after a day & a half, how is anyone supposed to finish their degree in a
decent time-frame!?!
What is "Available seats are reserved. Reserved seat requirement not met. Student not enrolled. (14640,213). Available seats are subject to reserve capacity
requirements." If it means that first and second years gets first dips, that makes no sense as I'm in fourth year and should be able to get the courses I need to
graduate.
The course was supposed to be offered but then was cancel. No other 400 level courses offered either.
I got the class i requetsted
course outlines posted online should clearly state what pre-reqs are, even IF the course is considered a special studies. outline itself gave the standard upper div
english prereq but go.sfu stated available seats were reserved...
Courses I need to graduate were full on the second day of enrollment. The course capacity for these classes is too small (25).
i don't get why i don't meet the restrictions... i am a bus major... i have plenty of credits. Please enlighten me.
I would have liked to take as many courses as possible in the HR area to further my knowledge and understanding of this field before I entered the real world. HR
is my chosen area of concentration and I have been looking forward to registering for these courses before I graduated in April 2006. Please see if it could be
offered ths semester!

COMMENTS

Courses from different faculties usually have conflicting schedule. I have been trying to register for MACM316 for 2 semesters, but it always have conflict with
required biology/MBB/chemistry courses, which I must take because they are prerequisites and cannot be delayed further. It is hard for double major/major-minor
to schedule course.s Open multiple sections offer us more choices and help us complete our requirement as soon as possible.

I was able to get the courses I wanted this time, however, last semester I could not get any I wanted (from a choice of 4 of them) and there appeared to be
extensive waiting lists. However, I did not see these same courses for this semester and wonder why they weren't offered when so many wanted them last time ( I
gave up this time but am still looking to take them.). In Arch I think the problem is some "special" courses do not come up frequently enough as there is such a
variety.

It is very frustrating in your final year that you can't take what you want becuase of course conflicts. I don't like spending my money on a course that i'm ok with, but
not ecstatic.
The History Department should open more lecture sections for upper division courses. I have been trying to get hist 436 BC History for two semesters and it
always seems to fill up so quickly. Can the department offer two sections of BC History next semester?
Ther e never seemsto be enough room in classes. As well not all classes have waiting lists, which is very frustrating..
400 Business core couses in Finance and Accounting offer only 1 or 2 sections every semester. It clearly does not satisfy the demand. Please add more sections
to theses courses. Some Math/Statistics courses are only offered once per year. Please considering increasing those course offerings as well.
It's better not to have classes so late at night during the winter session because the weathers would be so harsh and very difficult for us students and teachers.
Two possible recommendations for improved info to students: 1. post any restrictions for classes in the course timetable. 2. post the school's time on the gosfu
website
i would really like it if the french department would take it into consideration to have more 400 level courses available since some of us are waiting to go to france to
complete our 300 level classes and need to take other classes in the meantime.
There is an appalling lack of upper-division linguistics courses that do not pertain to the TESL certificate. Finally, when there was an interesting course this term
(409) it was full before any undergraduates had a chance to take it. Those of us attempting to finish our linguistics BA degrees are having a hard time of it, as
required courses such as 323, 324, and 330 have such severe competition come registration time. Please take the time to consider these complaints, and to
consider adding more linguistics courses to the timetable (especially those pertaining to sociolinguistics). Thank you very much, Sincerely, xxxx
Educ 322 is a required course in order to complete my education (counseling and human development) minor. I really need this course, since THIS IS THE ONLY
education course left (and the 3 courses I have egistered) before I finished my education minor. Thank You...
I've had problems almost every semester where 2 upper level computing science courses overlap by only 1 hour, preventing me from taking both concurrently, this
is frustrating!
More sections or waitlist spaces should be added for Bus 472, especially since the course is not offered every semester.
Some what satisfactory
Since Italian studies have not been offered here in quite an extensive time, it would be nice to make sure that there are maybe 30 or so students allowed in the
class, especially since it is a fourth year history class and anyone, like me, wishing to complete a Masters in Italy, would need this course to succeed in doing so.
It is always distressing when certain education courses are only offered once a week for three to four hours. It would be easier let alone facilitating the learning
process when the course is offered more than once a week for a shorter time.
More social and forensic psychology courses would be great, as would be more 4-credit seminar courses.
there was a thursday session indicated on the newspaper, but it was cancelled for some reason before the registration could take place, this session should be
reopened to accomodate students' needs.

COMMENTS

I am now a 4th year student, with a 3.6 GPA and yet as of my registration date every single 4 credit psyc course is full, leaving me with no option but to take 3
credit courses. This means I will have to take an entire extra course during the summer semester to make up the one credit. I was hoping to take a lighter course
load during the summer given that it's the summer before I begin my honours project and I wanted to focus on that. I am extremely upset at my late registration
date considering that I have completed 90 credit hours and have a relatively high GPA.
should offer more upper geography courses, especially those who are a few credits away from graduating
Currently waitlisted for both courses. I need to take phys course this semester in order to graduated in a timely fashion.
What do i have to do to get an earlier registration date?!?! I have great grades and this is my fouth year! This is beyond frustrating and it happens EVERY
semester!
As a transfer student I find that I have a later registration then other students at the 3rd and 4th year of studies. How will I ever get into class that I need to
graduate. The three class I wanted for this semester were all full.
My registration date is early already (one week after) and I am still unable to get into the course. Hopefully they will have more spaces and a waitlist available.
Thank you!
So far this is the 3rd semester during which i have not been able to register for a 4th year History class! This is seriously ridiculous! registration just started one
week ago and ALL the 4th level History courses are FULL!! SFU NEED TO OFFER MORE 4TH YEAR HISTORY CLASSES!!! Everybody else i talk to seems to
be in the same position! That means unless it's your last semester at SFU and you have a registration date that is 2 to 3 days from the beginning of the registration
period, you won't get a 4th level history class. Isn't that a little ridiculous?? If there's a demand, fulfil it! Offer more courses, just maybe 2 more, and notice that
they'll fill up right away!!
not enough upper level psyc courses
Course availablity was horrible this semester. I only have 2 semesters left and am limited in what I can take; still I did not get one course that I desired. I also ran
into problems with the waitlist system that allows 6 credits to be waitlisted (generally two courses) although this does not take into consideration 4 credit courses.
Overall my entire registration experience was horrible!
If one of the tutorials is full it should give you a list of the available tutorials instead of saying the the course is full because it is confusing and you might lose the
course when you could have just changed the tutorial date or time.
I am a 4th year econ student who needs to take this course. I hope the capacity of this class can be expended.
Most of the Business courses are on Mondays to Wednesdays. It would be more beneficial for students that work part-time if different sections of the courses were
offered through out the week.
The tutorials that don't open all at once are sometimes annoying. IF the timeslots were posted, it would be much better. That way, I don't have to keep checking
every hour.
I am now a fourth year student with relatively good grades and still cannot get into courses because they are full by the time I get to register. This is very frustrating,
what do I have to do to get a good registration date?
bus329 it's so popular
Will you open new sections? Those two courses are really hot! I want to graduate after next semester. I need to take those two courses.
Please consider adding another section of this BUS 421-Accounting Theory. I cannot graduate in the spring without this class.
Gero 300 is a requirement for the Minor/Major program in Gerontology. It is only offered through distance education, with a very limited number of seats. This
limits the number of students who want to take this INTRODUCTION course to see if they are interested in something like a Minor in gerontology. Please, more
seats for students who are interested in being "introduced" to the course material.

COMMENTS

I found it quite frustrating that I'm in my fourth year of the Communication program and I can't even get any of the third year classes that I want. Granted, I didn't
meet the prerequisite for one class, but I've taken 9 second year classes and I don't think it would be very helpful to take any more of them.
I'm so sick of this school not having enough space for students! Last time I checked, SFU was an internationally known school. What happend? The only good
thing about SFU is the criminology professors. If someone right now asked me if their child should go to SFU or UBC, and they weren't going into criminology, then
I would advise UBC in a heart beat. I feel ripped off day in and day out. I cannot wait to graduate from this xxxx hole.
I am confused: the schedule of classes of gosfu doesn't show a final exam for BUS 360 and the Journal that was mailed to me does. The problem is that this exam
conflicts with the 336 section I was originally planning on registering for... I just realised that last night while browsing through the journal while all this time I was
relying on the information found on GoSFU
Not enough space for upper ling course Please offer more upper ling course for students to take. Always not enough space
My biggest problem was that, at least in the psych department, the exams fall a lot on the same days. So now, because of course availability in following
semesters, and that I have to take certain courses this term, I have 3 exams on the same day.
I do wish to see more courses offered in the Kinesiology department for the summer sessions.
In order to complete my requirements for my English major, I need to have one class from the range of classes from Engl 354 to 360. There are only four courses
offered in this range, and each class has a limit of 23 students and 5 waitlist spots. I had an enrollment date a week after registration started, and upon registering,
I had only one choice left. all of the other courses were full. There is a need for more spots or more availability of these courses because they are required to
finish the English degree. I am only glad that I had such an early enrollment date, for if it was any later, I would not have been able to get into any of these
courses.
The LING Dept. never has a good selection of upper division classes. How's a guy supposed to graduate?
I've been trying to get into the course for 3 semesters now! It is the last requirement left for my TESL certification and I am very annoyed that I can not get in!!!
TESL program students should not have a lesser priority for this course than education students.
Thank you once again for overbooking the econ faculty.
Most upper divison history classes conflict with one another, how are we supposed to meet requirements when we cant even take a full semester?
Please offer more than one section for Ling courses!!!!

THIS IS JUST GETTING WORSE EVERY SEMESTER. TODAY IS THE FIRST DAY OF MY REGISTRATION AND ALL THE CLASSES I WANTED TO REGISTER
IN ARE FULL EXCEPT ONE. THIS IS VERY INCONVENIENT. THERE IS NO WAY I'LL DO GOOD THIS SEMESTER BECAUSE I HATE ALL THE COURSES I
AM FORCED TO TAKE. THE SYSTEM IS EITHER NOT STRUCTURED PROPERLY OR THERE IS SOMETHING GOING ON THAT DOESN'T MAKE ANY SENSE
AT ALL.

I cannot understand why my registration date was so late. This is the second semester in a row. I am in my third year and should be able to enroll at least in the
first week. I sepecifically asked for an earlier registration date but was not given one. Third and fourth year students should be given better registration dates or
class sizes should be increased.
Limit space for classes that I need I need in order to complete my BA. In addtion, limited selection of classes for human geographers .
Its surprising that with the number of students enrolled in History as a major, that there are not enough classes being offered to house everyone. This is not a
criticism as such, just an observation. It is very difficult to get the classes one wishes when there is not enough classes being offered.
There are courses that are available for students outside of that department but when I attempted to register they always give me error messages which cause me
huge delay in completing my degree. Courses such as FPA 150 and FPA 124 which wouldn't even allow me to put myself on the waitlist. So by the time I was able
to reach the advisor or the professor and get a reply back they were already full.

why would geog 324 only have 30 seats, from the ppl who are geo majors, and who I have talked to, almost all of them want to take this course. Since it was not
offered during the last two terms, it would likely be in high demand. please get more seats per term for both service activities and natural hazards. even though i
am a 3rd yr student, I cannot get into any of these courses!
Although I will be finished my courses soon, I think this course should be offered more often. In the past, I have been very interested in taking this Criminology
course and would probably have taken it if it were offered more than one semester per year. I think there would be lots of interest in the course among many
Criminology students and I think this could should be made available during the Spring, as well, rather than only the Fall semester.
There are not enough seats open in Upper Level Geography
By the time my registration date arrived, there were no open 400 lvl classes available... the selection was horrible this time around.
I find that the tutorials often conflict with other course lectures that I want to take. Also the tutorials are always centered around the date of the lecture with 5 hours
of tutorial before the class, this leaves students with later registration dates with no other option but to take the earliest tutorial and wait around campus for 4 hours.
We need more availability, especially for REQUIRED courses - developing CRIM 321 Distance would be an excellent idea. Thank you.
it would be nice to have a waitlist for all courses just in case someone decides to drop a course. For the courses i was not able to add, there was not a waitlist
option.
There simply aren't enough spaces available. Either students who are in third year or above should be given earlier enrollment appointments or the number spots
in classes should increase.
Dont like it when there are tutorials posted in the newspaper to enroll in but not on gosfu (not because full just simply not listed), plan out schedule and then have
to go and change it due to not offering it.
Not enough room in some of the courses that are required. A lot of scheduling conflicts made it difficult to plan classes.
I appreciate that it is difficult to avoid scheduling conflicts, especially for courses offered by different departments. I'm just dissapointed that courses required for
my degree conflict, especially when many of the upper division earth science courses are offered only every-other year.
please let me in.... my GPA is just 0.1 lower than the requirement~!
I unexpectedly had a later than usual registration date. This is the first time i have had any trouble getting the courses i wanted. Evolutionary Psyc. has a waitlist of
19 people. It is offered summer 2006 but then isn't listed again.
I would really like to know how the University decides who will have what enrollment appointment? It's really frustrating that even in my third year, and even through
I declared a minor in Sociology, I was not able to get into 3 of the 4 Sociology classes I wanted and needed in order to meet my upper division requirements.
Not enough space in electives. Also it is hard to scheudle between the two campuses because there are a lot of conflicts because of that.
Usually the seats are reserved, and its really frustrating for the students who can't get in to the classes they want!
They should open more seats for the other students because the courses are being filled so fast.
I did not pay deposit on time when I first enrolled because of sticky financial situation and therefore lost my place in registration (It was definately not because of
my grades) and now again I have terrible choices for courses (especially since the majority of required courses are already full) and I have to take courses that I do
not necessarily enjoy. So I think there should either be more courses offered when the courses are restricted or less restrictions on courses !!! :-) thanks
Many courses that are mandatory in the Econ department are already full. There is a very small selection left in the upper division to choose from. I am so stressed
out about this situation.
Increase class size for GEOG 312 Natural Hazards!!
WHy is it, despite the fact that I am a 3rd year continuing CRIM major, that I was given such a late sign-up date?!
I don't really understand why I couldn't get into this course. From the message, I'm assuming that a portion of the space was reserved for crim majors. While I
understand the necessity of this, it is quite frustrating since I plan on going into forensic psych and restorative justice is right up my alley (I want to work on offender
programs and CJS policy).

COMMENTS

It's only offered once, which, considering the course AND the waiting list are full, obviously isn't enough. I was planning on minoring in english, but since I can't get
this course, I'm can't do the minor anymore.
For students who have to work to support themselves thru school, SFU could be more accomodating by offering evening classes that started after 6p or 7p, which
were also shorter, thus being more frequent during the week. For example if there were SA classes available after 6pm that were 2 hrs twice a week, it would be
much easier to schedule the rest of my life around than the current arrangement for evening classes. Thanks in advance for your time & attention to this matter.
If certain courses are required they should be available and not full!!!!!!
I was very disappointed with the lack of availability provided for the coming term. For the amount of money I am required to pay in tuition each semester I find it
very frustrating when I am not able to take the courses I need and want to simply because they are full. I was also disappointed with the lack of planning with
regards to the exam times. Some of the core courses required for the Business Admin faculty had exams scheduled at the exact same time, which makes it
impossible to take all the courses needed and desired.
no comments, same deal over and over and there are no waitlist option for these courses
1) No room in other econ courses, probably due to the fact that the above econ courses were not offered. 2) Timing of Econ 302 and especially 305 is
inconvenient, and makes it extemely difficult to take both at once. Take a look at my schedule if you don't believe me. 3) There were other courses I wanted to
take but were also not offered. In particular, Japanese 200. I believe it is EXTREMELY limiting for student to only have to opportunity to take this couse once per
year. I missed my opportunity this semester as I am in Ottawa on co-op. I have spoken to the head of the language dept. and was told I if I want to continue next
fall. 4) I am unbelievably frustrated with SFU's course scheduling. You need more classes, instructors and T.A.'s. Given the size of this school, the current rates
of tuition (and current low interest rates), I don't think I should be forced to wait to take the classes that interest me.
If a course has reserved seats for a certain faculty only, it should be indicated in the timetable of classes section so that when we are planning our schedules, we
are not misled by the number of "available seats."
I will have completed the prequisites for both of the History by the end of the fall term.
Let people who require the courses enroll first - then electives...
online course desired, class is full. More space should be made for online classes.
CNS 390 is not asian cdn. presence, but Hockey in Canada
I am currently taking the prerequisite course of geog 111 and i want to take geog 214 the following spring semester, so how should i enroll to this course?
It should not rely mostly on your credit hours for registration. More should depend on grades and your intended major or minor. As I get regularly screwed over by
my registration date because I lost credits in transfering from another university.
this semseter was better then the last one. This is also my second semester so i understand the issue of "more credits= earlier regestration". I'm not too
disapointed with the selection i've got, it would be nice to get rid of my required classes earlier then just take electives for the rest of my solastic career. I did get
one elective this semseter, so I'm not really disapointed at all.
Why is that I am on a wait list for all of my classes? If that many people are taking these courses, why is there not more options available?
Since i was not declared in either my major or minor program i was not able to take any upper level classes as well as another class that i would need in order to
fulfill my requirements. The only reason that prevented me from getting my classes is the fact that i did not have the elective requirement fulfilled even thought i am
currently enrolled and will comlete the requirement in december. That means that i lost a full year of studies because of the regulations that surround declaring a
major/minor program. This is my third year at SFU and it seems like i will not complete my bachelor's degree for another 3 years which is unacceptable. What are
my options considering that for Fall 2005 i was forced to take only 3 classes and it looks like for spring 2006 i will be allowed to take only 2 classes when for the
past 2 years i have been taking 4 classes per semester. Thank you. xxxx
I'm curious as to how the enrolment dates are selected. I never seem to have a date any earlier than about 2 weeks after enrolment starts. It's frustrating becasue
I never get the classes I want. I've been here for 2 years and am in my third year and have declared my major and I rarely get a course I want.

only one section for BUS 319, and it's full already. should have at least 2 sections for each course~~
I'm very upset as I was willing to take ANY poli classes in ANY section and I was only admitted in to 2 classes, one of which I am not interested in at all
When multiple courses required for a major are all offered at the same time it can be very frustrating to plan a schedule. Stats 201, MBB 321 and Bisc 333 were all
offered at the same time and I need all 3 courses. Also, the only other course I could take that would further my degree is now full - Bisc 306. I currently have 3
courses only and only 2 are contributing to my major.
Some restrictions are for too long (e.g, BUS - Jan. 13th). I have a Crim 300+ credit, yet I cannot register in 335 or other courses where my credit is a prereq (I have
not yet declared my major in Criminology, I have the credit from transferring over to SFU.
It's really disappointing that I haven't been able to get into the communications classes, since that is the department that I've been accepted into. I will still attend
the lectures and tutorials, in hopes that the instructors will allow me into their classes.
As a third year student, I am dissapointed in the class availability due to the fact I am a transfer student. Becuase I am a transfer student, it should not affect the
availability of *required* BA requirements when I am a third year student. The lack of course availability means I now have to extend my time as an undergraduate
student, which in turn means more time, money and energy. I am thoroughly dissapointed with this aspect of SFU.
Course availability needs to improve...this is the second semester in a row I have been really disappointed. It is beyond pathetic.
I don't see how it is possible to major in English if the required courses, in my case Canadian Literature and Early English/Lit., have limited availability and I am
stuck with a later registration date. Should not Majors get priority in their own faculty? Also, how is the order of registration coordinated? Is it completely arbitrary?
The geography catalog numbers are all messed up....GEOG 312 is Natural Hazards. And for the record, this class has been a joke as far as getting into it for the
last few years.
It's incredibly difficult to get into the necessary communications classes, if they're actually being offered they're usually full, and there's only so many 300 levels to
take. It's not like you can take a 400 level class because you need 75 credits, which third year students don't have. I have found it so hard to get into any
communications classes that I haven't been able to take any and I've taken almost all (except some upper levels) of my electives. Even these electives I haven't
been able to get into because they are full. As an approved communications major I think it has been unneccessarily complicated trying to get the classes I need.
Perhaps more space should be made available for such high demand classes.
It seems all the courses I want to take are never offered when I have the prequistes for them and all the courses I can take fill up to quickly (classes of 20 seats).
I have had trouble getting into many classes required for my degree. I find it unfair that I can't get into the classes that I need. I also don't understand why there is
a limit to the number of people on the waitlist.
i am a third year student who transferred from langara with a gpa of 3.3, yet, when i come here, my gpa is 0, so i am again pushed to the back of the list, and now
my options are few and i have no choice but to take courses that i do not need at this time. There are future courses I need in order to get my degree, but they
have prerequisites, which I am for the second semester, unable to get into.
Availability is there but only to those who have VERY early regestration times. Early regestration is based on cgpa and credit hours i believe, which makes it a
POOR and UNFAIR system. Finishing a degree in 4 years is near impossible due to availability and super high tuition fees.
I am an MBB major, and I cannot get the MBB courses that I need.
I should meet the criteria for spots reserved in Distance section of KIN 140. I would like to take KIN 207 at the same time as KIN 304, but 207 is listed as a pre-
requisite. When reviewing on gosfu it would be helpful if the available seats reflected whether or not the seats are reserved, and whether you fit the criteria for the
reserved seats.

Its ridiculous, how I'm going into 3rd year and I can get only 1...yes 1 course towards my major. And yet freshies from highschool who don't give a xxxx or even
know what a major iscan get first dibs on any course. I mean xxxx is this, and why are MBB tutorials at the WORST possible times. Honestly, do you even look at
other MBB courses when you plan these things......completely xxxx ridiculous thats all i can say. Also English 199 is at xxxx times to....honestly open up more
spaces, people actually take it, even though it sounds like a bore.....alot of people sign up for it because its usefull, and to have the only available course left on
wednesday night, honestly what the xxxx is that about. People like myself ( in the sciences) are here ALL MORNING, and cannot hang around untill 6:30. Maybe all
the fluffer artsy students who wake up at 12:30 for 2:30 afternoon classes, sure an evening class works for them but it doesn't work for the rest of us. Also...the
morning ENGL 199 classes are on Monday, Wednesday mornings. HELLLO?! When do you think all the science lectures are at? 5:30 freaking pm? NO. They're all
MONDAY, WEDNESDAY, and FRIDAY mornings. Doesn't work yet again

The psychology department does not allow a 'Waitlist' for courses with tutorial. This is strange because most courses do have tutorials! We should be allowed to
waitlist for courses that do have tutorials. Also, how can we be penalized for dropping a course when the reason we are dropping it is because we eventually got
through the waitlist on another course? There is absolutely no guarantees right now whether or not we make it though the waitlist - which forces us to register for an
alternate course to be on the safer side. Hence, if we want to wait till the very last minute (week that classes begin) to see if we made it through the wailist we
should not be penalized the $50/$100 for dropping the other alternate course!
there was no wait list for econ 301 D100
i am a declared economics and polical science major, yet i am unable to get into my politcal science classes. This is very annoying as i need those credits to
graduate.
This survey does not recognize the catalog numbers for Crim. The courses I was unable to get were 412, 413, 450, 352, and 321. There were other courses I was
unable to get into but I did not list them here. I did have a later registration date which is part of the problem, but the Crim department isn't offering enough classes
for the amount of people that are in Criminology. Many people do not want to take distance ed upper division classes because for hands-on learners this will just
make your GPA go down, not up. Have you ever tried to teach yourself Advanced Criminal Law? We should not have to suffer because some teachers want to take
a semester off. If you need to hire more teachers, hire them. If you need to spend more time organizing yourselves and your time, organize. We are paying to get
an education and putting in the time, the investment, so should SFU.
Difficult to get relevant courses for BA-geography with environmental specialty
Geography 312 is Geography of Natural Hazards NOT Climatology I. It would have been nice to have wait lists for these courses since they are full at the moment
but perhaps later on there might be space available.
I would like to see a greater amount of sections offered for specialized classes. Also a larger wait list capacity for these classes would be helpful.
should add more sections available
I think that the class sizes for the required courses in sociology (such as 350, 355 and 356) need to be larger than 30 people. I need these courses to graduate and
I can't get them because there's never enough space in the class. If it's not possible to make them larger, then at least offer a greater number of classes (either
multiple classes of the same type, or a variety of different classes). I'm frustrated and at the end of my rope because of the lack of availability.
Yes. I have been trying to get one course, SA201, for four terms - I have finally been able to get into it this registration. That course locked me out of other required
courses and severely limited what I could apply for. I tried for SA356, also a required course, for 3 terms and was unable to get in; now it is not offered - I have no
idea why. I need a third year Hum. course - I had 12 picked out, not one of which was available this term. I am not happy.
In the newspaper appear six tutorials but only four are available (they are full as off now) in the registration page.
There are not enough available upper level IATcourses in the spring semester. This is especially true for those in the PMA stream of a IAT degree. Thrid AND
fourth year courses need to be offered at this time.

i am supposed to be in third year, and am unable to take a single third year course. i find this quite disappointing, and this semester is most likely a waste of time
and money, but i will take courses in the hopes of getting a better registration date next semester
I dont know why Iam unable to register for Physics. I have the prerequisite already. In fact, Iam taking the prerequisite course right now at another school. The
Chemistry course should have more lecture space. The labs are no where near full but the lectures are already full?
This is my second semester as a third year declared major and minor student and i have gotten the worst registration date both times, thus, i have not gotten into
the classes i need to graduate at a decent time, therefore, i am being held back a semester or two because your not offering enough seats!!!!
THE PREREQUISITES OF SOME OF THE COURSES WERE NOT AVAILABLE, AND THE COURSES WERE NOT MENTIONED IN THE CALENDAR. MORE
INFORMATION ON WAITLISTS POSITION, AND WHAT POSITION MEANS YOU ARE LIKELY TO BE ENROLLED.
There are some courses that I have wanted to enroll for several semester, but I still couldn't, I am so frustrated, I think the enrollment appoitment is the key. How
come my enrollment appoitment is always so late?
I am a linguistics major and i'm upset that i could not get at least one upper level linguistics course, due to the lack of space available i will never graduate and i'm
wasting my time taking lower division courses i do not need..I'm already behind on my credits, this is very disappointing and the classes that i registered for in
spring 2006 are useless to me. There should be more spaces available for upper division ling. courses, most classes only have 30 spots, which is definitely not
enough.
too few linguistic courses offered for students majoring in linguistics
I have been trying to register for these two classes for 2 years now and I am continually forced to take courses I do not require for my political science program.
For this reason I am not able to move on and I will probably end up graduating far later than I would like.
I have all courses requered for this course and it seems that there is a seats available but I am not able to get in . This is my second term when I can't registred for
this cours. If I be able to get in I would drop 330
i went to japnanese placement interview last friday, and succesfully got the permission to take japn100. How come I cannot enroll into japn100. The system kept
telling me: "error found."even though there is still space available. why?????????????I NEED YOUR HELP!!!
Last semester, Fall 2005 the course was full. I was #1 on the wait list, then I was put to # 3. I bounced back and forth on the wait list order. Obviously people
behind me on the wait list were getting in, and again I can't get in the Spring 2006 semester.
By the time I was able to register, everything was full, and because I haven't declared my major, even though I know it's history, I'm at even more of a
disadvantage. Furthermore, the selection of courses for this semester wasn't that great and many were offered at inconvenient times. Because of all this, I might
have to drop out for the semester
I could not get even one of the courses I needed for this semester as every single one was either full or not offered. There were two courses I need to take that
weren't not even offered. I am very frustrated because I am only able to take one course per semester and I have already paid my deposit. There was one course
I thought I might get and it said I did not have the prequisite but I do so now I am left with nothing.

What kind of system is it where I pay $2500 in tuition and can't get a single class that I need to finish my degree. Is there a reason that this happens? I'm a third
year student that would like to graduate EVENTUALLY, before the kids whom I used to babysit do... Is there a reason that my registration date is so late that i can't
get the classes I want. Is it because I haven't declared my major? Will someone please tell me? I'm sure I won't get any reply because this system is a piece of
xxxx, and i'm certain that this survey is not even taken seriously otherwise changes would have been made to it by now. Can I get some kind of reply from this?
What kind of system tells you that the class is full and all tutorials, when they aren't?? If you go to the timetable of classes you'll see that the class isn't full. Thanks
for nothing.

I wouldn't drop any of the above as they are a requirement for my program. However in addition to the required I need electives. The English course I was seeking
was the only one that would fit into my schedule. I am very limited in when I can take course and this University Writing one would of been perfect.

Another issue that i had was the fact that it did not recognize my pre-requisite OR my co-requisite. The pre-requisite for 306 and 349 for example is, "Credit or
standing in two 100-division English courses and two 200-division English courses, one of which must be Engl. 204 or 205". I have just tranferred from another
institute, and my english credits have been accepted, yet the system fails to recognize that i have the first yr pre-req's and one 200 level engl, with engl 204 being a
co-req
I keep getting the prerequisites not met error message when clearly I should be able to get into those courses because I need them to replace old credits to
courses which are no longer offered.
BAD!
If courses are required as pre-req's, then they should be offered especially during the two busiest semesters of the year - fall and spring - its a shame that students
are unable to get certain classes, as they are then held back from completing the required courses - forcing them to spend much more time in school then
necessary.
Can the department save some spaces for the major and minor students first before they open all the spaces to people who wants the courses for elective?
Need more distance education courses in English , Humanities, Archaeology, and History. Also, need night classes that actually begin in the evening (6:30 or
later) at the Burnaby campus, in the above fields. I'd be happy to come twice a week for a 1.5 or 2 hour class in the evenings (7-9 would be ideal).
I wish there's more than one schedule for mandatory courses. Also last semester, I was on waiting list number 1, but still couldn't make it. This semester, i, again,
am on waiting list number 1, and hope I can get into this class.
Why are there not enough LING courses being offered every semester? Even if they are, they are always full. How can LING students be expected to graduate
then? I find this extremely unfair. Are there not enough LING professors available?
This term completely sucked for registering. I am very disapointed. First of all, I am trying to get a British History degree and I could NOT enroll in any of the
required courses that I need for this degree offered this term. Also (for future reference) there is none of the British history degree requirements offered in upper
level courses for the summer and fall terms of 2006, hopefully this will change but if it does not I will become even more upset and I will have to change to just a
general history degree. NOT HAPPY ABOUT THAT!!! Secondly, the fact that I could not enroll in a single history course (well, I"m waitlisted for a distant education
course, not my favorite option) is disgraceful. Secondly, I am trying to get a humanities minor and 2 of the courses I wanted were already full and there were no
waiting lists, also not acceptable to me. I am completely disgusted with Simon Fraser University this semester and your idea of offering a wide ranger of courses!
Sure you offer a wide range but its impossible to get into any of them! I am pay very high tuition prices and I feel I should be able to get at LEAST two courses out
of four or five that I'm happy and excited about. Disgraceful, uterly disgraceful.
For the past two semesters i haven't been able to get not one of the courses i need or want to take. What is frustrating is that the important courses- the
requirements- are even harder to get into and as a consequence, will push me back.
They should add more lectures.
Although, as a political science major and in my third year, I meet all the requirements for POL 313, I was not able to enroll. This is very problematic for me, as I am
trying to obtain my degree. I meet all requirements listed for the course, and yet I am apparently missing something. As a member of the political science program,
especially as a major, I should have been informed of every prequisite for every upper level class. It is still a mystery as to why I am not able to enroll. I am new to
SFU, as this is only my third semester, but I am worried that this will now put me at risk in the future at not being eligible for a student loan, because you need at
least three classes per semester to get one. If I can't enroll into the necessary classes, I will be forced to take classes I do not need just to meet this requirement.
As well, although you had listed FPA 120 in the Spring timetable mailed earlier, it is now apparently not being offered. This, I find, is irresponsible behaviour, as
many students have to plan their semester well in advance of the enrollment date. Classes shown as being offered should keep that promise. I am extremely
unhappy at this point, and I feel that I am paying too much for school to be treated in this manner.
I hope there will be other lecture times available.
It is quite frustrating to spend countless hours organizing a schedule only to find yourself scrambling to fill the space with courses your not interested in! There are
clearly not enough spaces available, as some classes filled up within the first few days of registration.

I am intending to do a major in political science and a minor in biology. However, I am in the Faculty of Science so will I always have trouble getting into upper
level political science courses that offer only a limited amount of seats (of which most are reserved)?
I got all of teh classes I wanted to enroll in
I got into all of the classes that I wanted to enroll in, only wish there was another section for stats 201
There are not enough tutorial times for MBB 221. There are only 3 tutorial for more then 120 people, how does that work???
They are always far more limited in the spring and summer compared to fall.
2nd time in a row I haven't been able to get into CRIM 230; only remaining required class for Crim lower division.
I WANT TO TAKE THE STAT270 IN SURREY CAMPUS. BUT UNFORTUNATELY THE TUTORIAL TIME FOR STAT270 CONFLICTS WITH MY MATH232
LECTURE IN SURREY. SO IF THE STAT270 TUTORIAL TIME CAN BE MOVED ONE HOUR LATER, OR THE MATH232 LECTURE CAN BE MOVED ONE
HOUR LATER, THEN IT WOULD BE THE BEST. THANK YOU!
How determine enrollment appointment?
I think there're 20 reserved seats for this Arch100 E100, right? Can you e-mail me telling me if there are or not? If there're not, then I would have to change my
Econ103 to the Harbour Centre Campus rather than Burnaby Mountain Campus. Seats in Harbour for econ103 are going quick too. So please let me notified as
soon as possible. Thank you very much!
I do not like this system at all. Every semester I do not get some of the classes I have selected. also please get a better data base goSFU is horrible and confusing.
It would be nice if thier more options for lectures...maybe two or three different class times to choose from. It seems as though all the classes i was looking into
were around the same time. There should be more choices for evening lectures.
Hello. My name is xxxx 2nd year in SFU Business Administration. I finished all other required classes but those two that I could not register because there was no
space at all. I was going to declare lower division after the spring semester and go on to upper division. If it is ever possible for me to take those two classes, I
would really appreciate it. Thank you.
The selection of upper level psychology courses throughout the year is horrible. First, the selection during the summer is severely limited, especially if a student is
nearing the of their studies. The only courses offered are ones most people have already taken in previous semesters. Second, the majority of courses offered are
cognitive or biological psychology. There needs to be more upper level social psych and forensic/law psych.
My course registration date is always late. I've compared myself with another student in a less desirable section who has less credits than me and lower GPA than
me, and yet she still managed to get a better registration date. I also tried to declare my major as Linguistics. This was beginning of Fall semester. Now there are
only 2 weeks left of fall semester and my transcript still says I'm in Faculty of Science.
Since I studying at SFU, I have to go advisor office for the enrollment issue for EVERY semester. I TOTALLY don't understand how the enroll works. Because
every time I try to enroll courses for next semester, I always be told that u are not meet the pre-requestment. MY SID is xxxx.
I only have 3 more english class requirements left before I've fulfilled my degree requirements, and I wasn't able to get into any classes. I'm on the waitlist, no. 3,
for one of the required courese, but even then I'm not sure if I'll be able to get into. It'"s very frustrating, because I"m a 4th year student, and I'm thinking, "who is
getting into these classes before me, if I'm in my fourth year??" It's very hard to finish school when I can't even get into my classes that I need.
Why is there a restrictions now for non-interactive students not able taking it in surrey.??...Econ 105 at surrey, fits my schedule perfectly..and its much closer to my
parent's house. Econ 105 at burnaby is a big problem, because i also work part time.
A 65 maximum enrollment limit is ridiculous. There should be more than one lecture open for popular Communication courses.

COMMENTS

I looked up the availability of IAT 244 on Sunday and found out that about 50 out of 72 spaces are filled; however, less than 10 have enrolled in IAT 201 and IAT
204, the required courses for our Stream in SIAT. I wonder if the 50 enrolled seats are filled up by students of SIAT or from other faculties. I hope we can have
priority to our required courses. Although there is IAT 242 as our second choice, for me and many of my friends, we like photography more. Hope there will be a
new class for us. Thanks. IAT 208 #16210 conflicts with IAT 242 #12735. I have to enrol in IAT 208 #16214 which I do not really like because I am working on
Fridays. Therefore, I am on the wait list of #16211.
The availabilty is horrible. This is ridiculous. I can't go into upper division courses for business until next spring now, assuming I even get into the 200 level
courses I need in Fall 06. Maybe there should be restrictions on Business courses so that people that are already in the faculty have higher priority than people
still trying to get in. This is not the first time this has happeneed to me either.
I would very much like to see Old English I and II offered more often at SFU. I am very interested in studying the history of English in graduate school. These
courses are fundamental to understanding the origins and composition of the most widely-spoken language in the world. English 304 - Medieval Literature, was
also unavailable, and this is also a fundamental component on any English literature degree or program, because it spans a very dynamic period in the English
language. Also, basic required courses for a BA in linguistics--like Linguistics 321 (Phonology) and Linguistics 322 (Syntax)--were not available, even though they
were part of the catalogue. I am trying to earn a BA with a major in Linguistics, so this is a huge setback for me. Thank you for your time and patience.
It is frustrating that goSFU will not allow me to register for courses that I have been told by the academic advisor that I should and must take. While this problem is
being cleared up my desired classes may become full.
The waitlist limit was too low. To get on the waitlists of all the courses I need required 9 credits.
This is ridiculous.
If the class did not conflict with another, I'm sure it would have been full...classes here get filled up way to fast.
I am doing a Co-op postion in the Spring and I need the Monday class time. I have tried to take this class in previous semesters and it is always full, with nothing
avaliable, this time the only avaliable time I will be at work and can't get around it. Please note that this class is needed for most students in SFU in every faculty, I
hope that more space can be made. Thank you.
There are many other courses that I preferred, but were entirely full or certain sections were full that I needed. These courses are mainly 300level geography
courses and a few 400 level. There are not enough offered and not enough room in them. Some were full before I even registered.
Classes always full!!! Takes forever to graduate!!! Waste students time and money!!!!!
The chances of getting into required courses are slim to none There should be at least 5 more seminars of english 199. Not only myself but others have tried each
semester to get into it but it is full every time
Many of the required communications classes conflict with each other or are offered on different campuses at times that make going between campuses
impossible!
I hate my courses this semester since everything is full. I wish more course spaces will be offered in the future. I am very disapointed that I have to take mostly
300 level courses when this is still my second year here.
There should be more labs and/or tutorials. It's not usually the lecture times that is the problem. It's when there's limited space in the desired the lab or tut. Because
of this problem, it has set me back by a semester now. Which means more student loans!!
course availabilty is VERY limited and theres no point in being enrolled in sfu if i can only get one course that i need and want. at this rate, i'll be graduating in 10
years.
this is the fourth time ive tried registering for english 199 and its full

I dont need to drop the hum class because it doesnt conflict with the two arch classes... I have talked to the academic advisor for the arch department about getting
into these classes and they said keep checking back... i am a declared arch major and even though i am just below 60 credits not getting put into these classes like
other ppl i know who were declared in the past really is uncalled for. There needs to be a better system for this. I have always had a hard time getting courses i
need and want and this is just getting frusterating and uncalled for. Please do something to make it easier to get the courses we need so students dont have to
stay in school forever.
Please add more seats
sa 201 needs more spaces. too many of my courses overlapped this semester.
The difficulty is moving forward into subsequent semesters without having the prerequistes needed to continue the course requirements for my BSC in Active
Health and Rehabilitation Kinesiology. Particularly, MBB 221 it is critical for some of the 2nd year courses, i.e., 205 but key to carrying forward for several 3rd year
courses.
I was not able to enroll in ANY of my first choie classes, the only class i was enrolled in right away was the LAS 337 which i only tried to enroll in because i was not
enrolled in any classes and i would have been only waitlisted
I am currently in my third semester at SFU and am planning on majoring in criminology. My hopes of doing this however, seem to be dissappearing at a rapid pace.
I have only been able to take one crim course out of my three semesters at SFU due to the fact that they are all full when I register. I am hoping that there will be
some consideration taken into this matter as i know that I am not the only one in this situation. There needs to be more openings in classes, especiallyt for crim
since it is such a popular major among students at SFU. Please do your best to come up with a solution to rectify the situation.
There should be more distance learning programmes available, especially if it is a required course.
I can't get in to the waitlist of Arch 100.
I need to declare my major but my enrollement date is always so late, i can't the required courses i need to delcare my major in poli sci, now i have to take summer
session courses. thanks sfu...
i could not get into any classes between SA 302 - 350, and any of the CMNS lower division pre-reqs
I have yet to get what I want in any semester and always have to "settle" for alternatives that do not meet my academic goals or interests. Why is it so hard to take
what I am interested in?
I was told that BISC 306 had previously had 3 labs instead of 2. My advice: More labs available = happier students. What was the increase in tuition paying for
again?????????
It will be great if there could be more tutorials / sections or larger section classes. Hence, for those who have a late register time would be able to take the courses
that they need.
engl 313 is not offered next semester. Grrrrr.
There is space left in one section, in Surrey, however all the seats are reserved and since I am not an English major I cannot register in it.
Distance Ed should have more spots available.
I cannot waste any more time or money on "breadth" classes that I don't really want to take but end up taking when the classes I really NEED are full or conflict with
one another. Also my resigistration date sucks, will it ever get any better?
yea i feel kinda ripped off, i realise i may not rank the highest in order of registration, but having not a single course available i was looking for is quite
disconcerning, begs the question, then so whats the point? How can i get anywhere, if i cant get the courses?
This course is a required course for business students, I don't understand why there is only two sections for the next semester. everyone should take this course. If
I don't get it this semester, even my graduation date will be affected!!

COMMENTS

It is extremely frustrating that most/all criminology courses fill up in a ridiculously quick amount of time. It is equally frustrating when I go to this site to add myself to
the waitlist, just to find out that there are no waitlists for these full criminology courses. Obviously this is quite the popular program, thus there should be many more
spaces for the massive amount of students who wish to take it but cannot take their required courses due to a lack of space.
I think required courses shouldn't only offer in one semester!
It seems to be a very interesting course. if is so full, i think they sound add an extra class since so many student wants to get into this course
More availability in seating for classes, since they are online, there should be more tutor markers for these classes, it is usually in high demand for lower division
requirement courses, because THEY ARE REQUIRED. =)
It's IMPOSSIBLE for non-business students to get into upper division business classes. so unfair.
linguistics courses are having a major bottleNeck problem with required courses; prerequisits for most upper division level courses ling 222 and 221.
it's not fair for people who register later and then only few days to swith classes. the period for register is less than people who register earlier. however, when we
choose courses, there are no more choice/option for us. why not just reserve some space for people who can not register early? we pay the same amount.....
I am so frustrated witht his school, I have been at SFU for almost 2 years now and every semester it's the same thing. I have sooo much trouble getting the
courses I want, it's ridiculous. Why should I have to pay money for courses I don't really want just do i can stay enrolled in the school, hoping that next semester it
will work out better? So many students I have talked to and overheard talking have had the same problem. You guys better make this situation better in some way
or you will have many students, including myself, leaving to go to other institutions where they can actually get classes. I end up in tears after most registration
dates becuase I am so frustrated that i can't get any pre-reqs for the crim program, but I don't reaally care anymore, SFU has pretty much made me hate post
secondary education.
This class seems to fill up very fast. I have been trying for two semesters, but can't get in. Eventhough I am a graduate student, I was given a late registration date.
this is absolutely absurd, i have come to simon fraser university to study criminology and i cannot get into a single criminology course for next semester and only
one breadth requirement course. i am extremely dissapointed and i will be discussing this matter with the criminology undergraduate advisor and anyone else who i
deem neccesary to address my situation. this is unacceptable.
There should've been more classes offered at the Burnaby Campus for Japn 101 students
xxxx you and your freeking online enrollemnt. my gpa is over 3.5 and ever since i transfered to this school i have been insulted and ashamed of your full classes
I wish I had earlier registration - why was I so late?
There was no waitlist when I registered - a few days later, a waitlist appeared. Had there been a waitlist available when I registered, I would have placed myself on
the waitlist.
There are a number of courses that I would certainly have taken had they been available. I find the greatest issue has been the lateness of the date of registration.
Mine is on the 24th others had theirs much earlier, this means that those of us with late dates are at a significant and unfair disadvantage.
ALL maths should be available at the Surrey campus, all year long.
They are Distance Ed!! You should be able to take them without any restrictions providing you meet the requirements!!!!
How are we supposed to get more credits to increase our priority to pick classes when its based on credits. when we can't get any classes, we can't get any
credits? I'm xxxx over now, and I'm falling behind.
more evening classes or weekend classes for us working people.
i am an intended kines major student, I was hoping to be able to select the nutrition course as well as the chem courses so i could stick with my desired course
outline for each semester
1. Please pay closer attention to see that lower-division required courses have enough space. 2. Why do certain classes not have a waitlist option?

YES! This is the FOURTH term I have tried to enroll in the prerequisite course, CRIM 103-3. Each time it has been completely full. This time, for Sprin 06, I was
able to get on the 'waiting list'. I'm not certain how I am supposed to enroll successfully??! I log on at the precise moment of my enrollment time, but to no avail.
My second choice, CRIM 135-3 was completely full/no wait list. A bit frustraing...nto only do I need to take it, but I would like to take it/am interested.
I have yet to ever get all the courses I wanted. This is annoying and now to the point where it may very well force me to spend an extra semester to complete my
degree, which is not financially feasible.
Why are the waitlist only for 10 people in some cases, and sometimes, not even a waitlist????
There were two tutorial section for MATH 113. Maybe becuase there are only few students who register this course, one tutorial is canceled. I therefore cannot take
this course because the tutorial is conflicted with ECON 105 lecture.
I am only able to take distance Ed courses and I find that when I try to get into any they are almost always full!
the course times are very limited...
Being a transfer student, I had a really late registration date. Therefore, I wasn't able to get the courses that I wanted. I was anticipating taking 4 courses, but
unfortuately, I can't find any courses. As with the fall semester, I am really disappointed with the course availibility.
I really need those courses!! Can I at least take distance education courses??
As I was only allowed to enroll at this time of year, all the times that I wanted were already gone. Not only were my 1st and 2nd choice gone, but i had to resort to
my least favorable times. I wish SFU would offer more classes. Also, for the business courses, there were suggested courses to take each semester, so with that in
mind, shouldn't more classes be available that would work around those classes, rather than putting them 4 hours apart, or even so, have only 2 tutorials on that
day, and put the rest at 8:30 in the morning. It is hard to work my schedule around, when I also have a job to keep. I was not very satisfied with this semester's
course availability at all.
I was disapointed that POL 426 was cancelled too, I would have taken that course if it was offered.
I am a recent graduate from Simon Fraser and i am currently taking some prerequisities for the PDP program. However, i have been given a late registration date
because apparently i am, once again, perceived as a first year student. I need either of these courses for my program because i have directly spoken to PDP
admissions and they havce reported that these courses are incredibly important. Please allow me to be added to either of them. It would further my chances of
being accepted to this program, which in turn would really influence my future career goals. thank you.
every single course that i have attempted to get into is full, my first and second choices. I now have to do a course by distance ed., which i didn't want to do and
i'm only in 2 other courses for sure
I couldn't register in Ling E110 due to my late enrollment appointment. I would like to start this course in the Spring 06 term.
the number of student capacity per classes should be higher or there should be an extra class since this course is in such a high demand
courses are frequently unavalible and have time conflicts
Psyc 102 -- should be available to me, as I will be completing the prerequisite Psyc 101 this current term of Fall 2005. Beyond this cause for error, the course is
also currently full with no space left in any selections. Crim 135 -- is a back up course I would prefere to take ONLY if I am unable to get into CRIM 104, PSYC
102, AND SA 150. HUM 101 -- is a back up course I would prefere to take ONLY if I am unable to get into CRIM 104, PSYC 102, AND SA 150
I finf it unfair that there was no courses left over for myself to choose from. I am the one paying for my education and I cant even choose the courses I need. Its not
fair that people with scholarships get to go first or people belonging to a sports team. I had a $500 award from SFU and I have good grades in all my classes right
now and Im on the last day of registration. It sure doesnt give you an incentive to try hard at this school.
It's unfair for the first year students for having the last registration appointment because a lot of popular electives courses are full by second year students.
should make them bigger and have waitlists for all courses
All my first choice selections are gone because of the late registration date.

COMMENTS

SFU does not provide students with sufficient classes. Even though some students may not have the same good grades as other students, it is frustrating to get a
enroll time 2 weeks after it begins. All classes I need to take are full. I wish SFU would have more at least one more lecture class for each course and more
classes for tutorials and labs.
I am a mature student and am taking one course each term. (I started in 2003.) My work demands limit my ability to take more courses, or get to the Burnaby
Campus. Humanities/arts offerings at Harbour Centre are limited (surprising, now that the business school has its own space) and all the courses in which I have
attempted to enroll are full. This is a recurring problem each term. While I understand that priority should be given to full-time students, it seems that the interests
and requirements of your mature students who are based downtown are not considered. My GPA is 3.787. I have taken several courses through distance ed but
haven't particularly enjoyed the experience. I miss the interaction with instructors and other students. I have tried to register in the above courses -- I simply want
to take one course that is of interest. Otherwise, I don't see how I can continue with SFU.
horrible availability when you have a late enrollment date
I am in the business program and i could not get into any of the required courses where as there are students in the faculty of arts with early enrollment dates in the
same year with the same credits as me who are in tthose courses.
There needs to be more sections offered, and even though they may be full, there needs to be more sections that contain waitlists.
Because I had a later enrollment date, everything that I wanted, and needed to try to finish my 60 credit hours, was full with no waitlists. There should be some
way to allow students with later enrollment times to still enroll in courses that were taken by others with an earlier time. Leave a few spots open for later dates.
I'm unable to enroll in mandatory classes I need in order to obtain a degree, I don't want to fall behind so I decided to take some electives that I need. I was unable
to enroll in those also because those classes are also full. It gets worse..most of the classes are too full so there are no waiting lists available. It's very
inconvienient because a lot of people can't catch up in the summer because they work full time
It's totally unfair that other students have their enrollment appointment early even though we all have the same rights and so they get all the classes they want
while we are left waiting!
Some classes have a lecture that have many seats still available, yet there are little or no tutorials available. I don't think this makes sense if it is required for the
course to take BOTH the lecture and a tutorial.
About IAT 101, they have made the surrey students available to take IAT 101 first, however it is restricted for burnaby students to take that course AFTER
december 16th..in that case, i believe for people who want to try out IAT courses, are impossible for burnaby students or other campous's student to try out the IAT
course... or for those who want to change their major to SIAT.. since they are burnaby students..
Courses should be reserved for people majoring/minoring in it. I am majoring in political science and cannot take it becuase there is no space. I am minoring in
criminolgy and there is no space. This is very difficult for me and my family.
I am told that this class is required in order for kinesiology students to do a co-op term, therefore, I think that kinesiology students should have priority for this
course.
Those are the only courses i am able to take due to time conflicts as well as the requirements i need.
This is getting very frustrating. This is the second semster in a row that I havent been able to get a majority of the courses that I want and need. How can I graduate
from this school if i can't get into the courses i would like. Its annoying that i now have to pay money for classes that I do not entirely want and do not work towards
my degree.
I think you should offer more spots available in classes, more tutorial times, and waitlist options for those two courses (economics 103, humanities 100).

COMMENTS

I have already completed a degree, and am coming back to do a Post Baccalareate Diploma. I find it very unfair that my registration date is so late, since I need to
take all upper level classes, and most people registering for these classes have registered 2 weeks before me, and therefore there is no space available. I do not
have much choice in classes with my PBD and therefore need all of these courses. Currently I am only enrolled in one course; if I don't get the rest of my courses
there is no point in me doing the PBD at all. The same thing will happen next semester, and I do not have the time to just take 1 course per semester. It is
ridiculous.
i need to take econ 105 this term, otherwise i cant take certain couses next semester.so now i am disappointed.
More spaces in online courses would be most desirable, need more tutor markers
how come the classes are full ????!!!><""
all the courses are full by the time the first years want to get them!!!! this causes much frustration
The two courses that i was unable to register for are required courses that I need to go further into the field of study that I am interested in. If at all possible to put
me in these classes, it would be greatly apprecitated. Thank you, xxxx.
there should be more lecture times, instead of just one for most of the courses. Also, more availability for those who have later registration dates.
Have more lecture times for courses that are in demand.
It would be helpful if more than one class is offered for each course.
Courses in which are required are never available while i have to take other usless courses to fill up schd.
Could we have bigger classes and more classes at different time for the popular courses. What can we do when we cannot get the courses we want?
How are registration dates determined. Because I got less than half of the classes I wanted b/c of the lateness of my date, and would like to avoid that in the future.
Don't know why my course selection date was so late, because I'm a first year student.
i would have liked to have an earlier registration date so i do not have to go through the frustrations i have right now. many of the courses i am registered for are
my third choices and they are in a very inconvenient time schedule for me.
Yes, MAKE IT BETTER
distance education course should not get full.
Its horrible! I only got 2 classes that I wanted to get and fighting the rest of my 3 classes was nearly impossible, I went from searching things I was interested in or
needed for me degree to pretty much any class that was open...and this was hard to find!
I am very upset that two of the courses I wanted to take were full because I had all of them planned two and a half weeks in advance and now I have to rearrange
my schedule and miss days of work because of it. I also can't take CMPT 125 at all because the only lecture is full. Why should I have to wait til today when others
got to sign up for their courses up to two or three days ago, filling my place? I find this very unfair.
there should be more spaces!!! ><
Why do some courses have no waitlists?
I am a student is the faculty of science, and I believe many sciences courses are reserved for science students. However, today when I was adding my courses, I
found out, for example, CHEM 121 has 67 seats available and 17 waitlist. I do not understand that as a science students, I am on the waitlist while there are still
seats available. If faculty students are priortized, why am I on the waitlist for 6 out of 7 classes which I desire to take(these 7 classes also include Tutorials and
Labs)? Also, I am unable to make up a back up schedule because my alternative classes conflicts with my waitlist schedule. I wish there is some way that I can be
informed for sure that I can get into the class next sememster, so I can drop the waitlist classes and schedule alternative ones. I really wish I can get into my
desired class, or be informed about the defenite unavailability of those classes because I am on Student Loan, and if i can't be enrolled with 60% course load, I am
unable to receive the money.

COMMENTS

I really wish that PHYS120 was offered in the spring as well as the fall, because many people cannot take it in fall if the were still trying to meet the prerequests of
PHYS120 by taking PHYS100; also it makes some convinience for people who failed phys120 as they will have to wait a whole year before taking it again and be
behind in ALL physics courses for one year.
How would I know if I could be in the waitlist?
came to SFU to study communications - have been unable to access any classes - very frustrating for a first year student!
I think more english courses should be available. More and more students seem to be interested in english studies, whether being a major or an elective, but they
always seem to fill up quite fast. More time options would be greatly appreciated.
all of these classes that i MUST have in order to get my degree are full right now and NONE of them have a waiting list. I am so scared...because even other
courses such as history and humaniteis are full. What ma i to do for the spring semester? I am planning on taking for courses but i am only enrolled in ONE right
now because that is the only one that isn't full....and it's not even on the burnaby campus. Will the spots be open?? Is it most likley that people will drop classes
soon..because my registration date ends on the 12th of december. thank you.
All of them seem to be at 11 30 am
Why have a limit on the number of waiting list seats? If there was no limit you could determine the number of students interested in the course and would give you
the reasources to determine whether another class should be opened. Rationally it does make sence since the university does make more money if students are
enrolled in another class.
I dont know why my enrollment date is after so many other people are allowed to enroll :(
None of the courses that I am required to take have space left in any section.
French courses conflict with a lot of other courses. Not enough emphasis has been put into the french department. French should be just as important as business
and computer science program since it is one of our official languages. It is awfully hard sometimes to fit french courses into the work/study schedule especially
since there is often only one section offered.
I hear before that not all tutorials are opened for availability. They slowly open. It should be like that to prevent people with earlier dates to get into the courses. I
think people should still be able to get into the course even if they reigster late, but perhaps they get a xxxx tutorial time as a result which is still fine. The current
system, a lot of ppl are taking courses they dont want since the ones they want are full already. Perhaps future course selection methods and course enrollment
dates should be varied.
No spaces anywhere... Not good for me... Feel forced to take courses that I do not wish to take to keep up with the requirements so that I do not fall behind with
schedule.
This sort of availability makes it impossible to follow any kind of program or schedule for a four year degree. Because no classes are available i have to continually
push them back hoping to get them in the next semester, i am forced to take less important classes because they are the only thing available.
There should be more courses available especially for first year students who have such late registration dates. It is very frustrating to have to create multiple
schedules just to find that all the courses you want have been taken off the list because the course and the waitlist are filled. Also, there should be a greater
number of seats available in distance ed courses seeing as it is distance ed.
It's a shame how you can get admitted to the university and not being able to get enrolled in any courses ( as was my case last semester), until I was accepted in
the class. It would really help all students if something is done about this. Thanks.
sfu hardly has any courses in surrey, and it doesn't have enough available seats for many of the courses in both burnaby and surrey!!
You would think that by paying approximately $2000 every term that you would get into all of your desired courses...but no.
This has been my third semester at SFU and I still cannot enroll in Geog Natural Hazards 312.

No matter what course im trying to register for i can't get into any. Even if im trying for ones that aren't required for my area of interest i still cannot get in. This not
only effects my course planning but also my financial options for applying for a students loan as a full time student. Some of the classes i want to take this
semester are not offered in the summer so Im going to have to end up waiting a year to do some of them.
it really xxxx for me right now because all the courses i need for my degree require the above courses as prerequesites so im basically stuck right now untill the
summer semester.
I can only choose from two tutorial sections because others conflict with other courses. There are too little availability for econ 291 and the tutorial sections are not
enough too.
Yes, why is course selection limited so much? I registered for econ 105. The next day I checked and I wasn't enrolled. It is NOT FAIR how you have so little time to
enroll. To keep more students happy I belive more classes should be offered.
For popular courses such as EDUC 220, more spaces or two classes should be available each semester. There should be a waiting list for English upper division
courses, this is the second semester that I haven't be able to get into an upper division english course that I wanted.
there should be more than 1 CMPT 125 lecture time
I understand it's hard to please all the people all the time when 'all the people' means roughly 26 000 students; I only have two questions: one, Why can't I drop the
Practicum? I'm not even eligible, I clicked on it before I knew what it was; and two, Why is the last available section for POL 210 restricted? Thanks.
How am I supposed to get in a class when my registration date and time comes two weeks after the actual day of registration?
You need more than ONE section of chem...alot of people need to take it.
ADD MORE CLASS SPACE
there should be more room as the classes are full within the first few days of registration, therefore there was no chance for the other students to get into the
classes. Also, there should be waiting lists for the above classes.
course availability is very low. There are at least 3 courses i plan to take are not available
This seems to be a recurring issue every semester. I feel extremely sorry for those enrolling after me, as I have reportedly gotten a decent enrollment time. I am
on a military scholarship, and require a complete degree within four years. At this rate, that will probably de difficult. As it stands, getting into 5 non-conflicting
courses is a near impossibility (I've had to settle for 4) and even with 4, two of them are courses I have no interest in taking. I worry, that if this trend continues, I
may lose my job as a result of insufficient credits. Not to be dramatic, but (lack of) course availability is a serious problem that needs to be addressed. How can
someone be expected to have a fulfilling university experience if half of the courses they take are space-fillers? Even considering every other amazing aspect of
SFU (I love the school), this one issue is enough to make me reconsider my choice of institution.
I understand that those seats will be reserved for students in the Explorpro program until Dec 3rd, at that time any remaining seats will be released for the public to
enroll in. However, my enroll appointment is upto Dec 2nd, what can I do for I really like to take this course.
This is not fair to have some students add classes sooner than the others. There is only one class that is not full for CHEM 126 that if i take that i should drop my
BISC-101 because of time conflict. I couldn't find my desired tutorial times for BISC 101 and CHEM 122. I wish this system changes because if it goes on like this I
will have so many problems in the comming semesters. Thank you.
i do not understand why some people have earlier enrollment dates giving them all the priority making the students with later enrollment dates suffer by not geting
all the courses they would like
It is unresnobal that I should have a registration date so late. Classes I won't are full and I refuse to take useless casses I don't wont. There were people registering
at the begining of Nov. It is curntly almost Dec. It should not take a computer a month to regester which student #'s for which class. Ferther Though I may not be a
top academic, or a varsity athalete, I do have something to offer, and I can attend another insatution that is preperd to give me the corses I wish to take.

COMMENTS

Could you please tell me what to do know after not being erolled in any of the classes I need? Due to I am a visiting student my home university requires that I take
these classes (or maybe similar ones).
I thought this was offered in Distence ED ?
Re Political Science course. It was not clear what tutorials are available.
Having the last day of enrollment leaves very few options open
It is amazingly frustrating.
I am a new student to SFU and have enrolled in the Education faculty, to start my prereq's for a B.Ed as 2nd degree. I am living in Whistler and it took a lot to finally
decide to go back to school. Given my location, I am only able to take Distance studies courses. Even courses showing waitlist availability are not allowing me on
the waitlist. I am VERY disapponted and truly hope something opens up so I do not lose my $100 deposit. I was warned that I would have a less than desireable
enrollment date coming in as a part time non-degree student, but I didn't want to resort to LYING to get myself in earlier.
I only got one course that I actually wanted. I had to spend about five hours working my schedule and trying to get into ANY class that I could, regardless of
whether or not I actually wanted to take it, just so that I could get credits. It was stressful...
It is unfortunate that full-time teachers who want to pursue a post-baccalaureate diploma are given a late registration date, by which time, all the courses required
for the diploma are full, even to their waiting lists.
I only got one course, out of a possible six options. That's unacceptable. I tried numerous other classes that don't even interest me - and couldn't even get ONE.
Your system is very cumbersome, hard to use, not user friendly AT ALL. I am very frustrated and will consider attending another institution based on this
experience ALONE. Not to mention - if you only give me ONE class - should I not be able to wait list for MANY classes to ensure I can have a full course
load?????? I am waitlisted for two courses, but that is NOT ENOUGH. I am really upset.
I am a student studing to earn a second degree. I can't register for courses because my high school records aren't on file. This information wasn't required for
admission and I received no indication that it would be necessary for me to enrol. If I was asked for a high school transcript during the admissions procedure I
should be enrolled already. Unfortunately I didn't receive the advice I needed. I did the work required of me and am quite frustrated that this is an issue!
I recently graduated, but I need more courses to get where I want to go. Now I have a late enrolment date. I now see what people have been stressed about. I tried
every course in every department that might benefit me and could only find two courses to enrol in.
Courses should not be solely offered at Harbour Center. I was also looking to take Intro to Acting I, however it is only being offered at Harbour Center this
upcoming semester.
Course availablility is terrible at this University. Considering SFU is the only full university offering Crim courses, there should simply be more crim classes,
specifically the lower division required courses for entry into the school of Criminology. Very disappoited that I had to wait all this time only to get shot down and
now needing to wait yet another term or two simply to get my lower division requirements for entry into the school of Criminology. Very disappointed and frustrated
at SFU for not having more of the Lower division required courses. Since i am a mature student, there should be some prioritization when getting a registration
date. Letting your mature students wait and then fight for the scraps left after other younger students have registered is a real let down. Very upset and will spread
the word to every person I know about what I have experienced this registration cycle.

Just wanting to express my frustration at being unable to get into my desired classes. I am a declared Linguistics major, yet I cannot get into the courses I need to
accumulate in order to graduate. I have a high GPA yet still my registration date is late enough that every one of my desired courses was full this semester.
Particularly for the linguistics department where there are so few upper level courses offered each semester. I would like to see them start to offer some courses
that I know are in the curriculum, but just aren't offered very often. This would certainly provide more options for linguistics majors and opening up the possibility for
us to actually enroll in linguistic courses.

COMMENTS

As I'm doing a post-baccaleaureate program, there are only so many courses I need to take, and so many I can take to count towards the diploma. More space
needs to be available to students in my position.
It would be great if there were more courses and sections offered through distance education. It is quite difficult to get into upper division History courses as most
are full or on a waitlist.
All of my courses are full.
I dont understand why the people with the later anrollments dont get the chance to choose there courses. Whats the point of having anrollment appointments at
all??? My friend had her enrollment a month ago! After a month abviously all the courses will be full! There is no even room on the waitlist.
I would not have taken ALL the courses I couldn' t get into, but any one or two of them depending on what would have made a better schedule. There are simply
not enogh linguistics courses. I have been hearing for weeks that all blocks of 321, 322, and 324 are full. Undergrad students in liguistics have been complaining
that it takes a very long time to get all linguistics requirements due to the lack of course offerings.
I have the prerequisites, a completed BA of English Literature and the CNC equivalent of SFU's English 204. Please advise!
I do not have a clear set program, all the corses I take are electives.
I have been offered to start studying only a few days ago but at the moment I can not find any 2 courses I can take.
i am very frustrated. i only got one course that i wanted. and may not be able to take it because of shedule conflictions with my work. So i am enrolled but am only
taking one course i want., And everything seems to conflict. I wanted to take so many courses but am only taking two which means i have to pay my student loan
off soon. because i am not going full time anymore. so thankyou.
horrible. all should be able to pre-select courses and have them automatically registered on their course registration date... if the courses are full the student will
be notified on or before the registration date... this will help those who spend hours planning their courses only to find out that all of their desired courses are full
and must plan a new schedule
For phys 100, it says there is a 103 spots available yet there are no tutorials open so it' currently impossible enroll in
I REALLY NEED Crim 321 in order to graduate as planned. Crim 321 is not offered the Summer '06. Can you open another section, PLEASE? Thank you, xxxx.
i actually wasn't able to get any of my first, or second, choice classes. I was very disappointed with the fact that i was unable to register until after my appointment
time by five minutes, which is a lengthy amount of time to wait when competing with others for certain courses. I must say the thing that overall irritated me beyond
belief was the following occurence: after waiting at position #3 on the waiting list for Didicher's Engl. 333 course, i found that it was available as a distance
education course as well. Concerned that the waiting list would never get around to enrolling me, i decided to see if i could get into the distance ed. course. I could.
However, once enrolling, i realized that if the waiting list did die down, i would probably be skipped if it saw that i was enrolled in the same class online, so i
promptly dropped the online course. Big! Bloody! Mistake!!!! They dropped me from my waiting list course as well!!! i am so annoyed!!!!!!!!!! i have been sitting
around on that waiting list forever only to be discarded by some callous technicality!arrrgh!!!!
Japn 100 interview times were poorly advertised and finding them was difficult.
Yeah, i had a killer late registration date and i didnt get into any first year CRIM corses. I live on campus and some were still avalible at Surry but they conflicted
with other corses for which i did not need to go off hill for. I wouldd not drop any of the cores i currently have seeing as they are all required corses as well, but if i
had been able to get another course, i would have had 5, my prefered amount.
More than one section should be available for a course which gets filled up quickly and has a long waiting list.
i really need this course to comepelte the requirement for inter-transfer. i have waited for one semaster, unlikely, i got my enrollment appointment late this
semaster, i cannot wait for another semaster, i really need to take this course in spring.
It seems that every time I have an enrollment appointment - I cannot get into classes - I'm always on the wait list.
CAN WE HAVE MORE 300/400 LEVEL ECONOMICS COURSES OFFERED IN THE DOWNTOWN CAMPUS? OR DISTANCE EDUCATION?
This happens all the time.

COMMENTS

I would have dropped 241 and taken it with 251 in the summer ession
It is unbelievable how many courses that I was trying to get into fell at the same time. There needs to be more variety in the course timings...
Some courses are reserved, so I cannot choose. By the way, it would be better if goSFU can provide explanations about the not-met prerequisites or
requirements.
Being a 1st year xxxx, how are we supposed to be able to get into anything? We seem to get stuck only being able to get into courses we don't want, and we have
to pay to take them.
I don't understand why a required course for a concentration in accounting in the business administration program would only be offered with one section, with only
35 students when there is 14 students on the waiting list.
I am very dissapointed to get last appointment date, despite my overall good grading performance. I was not able to get a single class I wished for, not even on a
waiting list. I am currently on a waiting list for POL 231, which is the only hope I have of taking a class I want. I would gladly drop Geography and Philosophy if any
of the classes I wanted to take become available.
I don't think it's fair that people with later registration dates can't get into the classes they wish to. So they're left with classes they don't really want and they have to
pay tuition plus book costs for them.
A lot of students can not enroll in the ECON 105, Last semester, I can not enroll in it, I really want to take it. I wonder when the problem can be solved .
The university should poll students to infer what classes they want to take the next semester and use the results to plan the following semester. The lack of SFU
language courses in both number and variety is being reflected in our reputation among language students of other universities. Many pre-requisites are
unnecessaery - I have never failed to get them waived in person, but am always waiting for te beginning of class to actually be able to enroll. Have you considered
allowing students with strong familiarity with related courses skip some pre-reqs? I have a some experience in POL, but a BA in S/A. Why can I not simply take any
UD POL course that does not have specific pre-reqs? I am somewhat annoyed that after graduating form SFU, I can return to take classes but only with dead-last
priority.
I really need to take this course, since it's a required one and I will be doing coop in summer semster, so i have to do this course this coming semster.
The enrollment by appointment system is very fair. I am taking courses at SFU to work towards my CGA as the standard of education is similar to the CGA
program. I would prefer staying at SFU rather than going to BCIT, etc, however, I am finding I may have no choice other than to use colleges to finish my
foundation studies. I was hoping to finish my CGA first and then come back to SFU to finish my BBA or MBA.
There is only one section offered for each of my required courses.
Because of my extremely late enrollment time, while I do understand someone has to be last, has left me in the position of wondering if I should even bother
staying for this semister or to try something else instead. For options, there is nothing left. However, I thought one of the reasons for having the first year of a
degree with so much room in it take electives was the ability to TAKE electives instead of having nothing aviable. How am I post to get a broad range of interest,
learning what I might like, if everything is full till I am a more mature student. By that time I won't be able to take electives because I will be forced to focus onto my
requirements. Overall, this has left me with a very bitter taste. This experience at such an early stage with SFU has left me wondering why I am attending this
university.
This is the third time that has happened to me. I make it to the waitlist and there are spaces left but somehow the spaces are taken up and I barely move in
position. Cmns 110 is always filling up so fast. I need that class. That class capacity needs to be bigger!
could you make another class for this course?
courses shouldnt have reserved seating and student should have a limit of registering for only 4 courses so it leaves some for the other students with later
registration dates. and then at a later date they can register for 1 or 2 more after everyone at least gets their first picks.

COMMENTS

Some courses' seats are reserved for certain students and released later. it confuses me when it refuses to register me in the class, i wouldn't get in if i did not
know it would be released later.
I was a little upset about not being able to get into either course I require; one of them I could not even get on a waitlist. My appointment time was at 12:30 on a
particular day and I was on the computer at 12:30 sharp. It was already long filled up. I'd like to know what we're supposed to do when the course is a prereq. to
EVERYTHING else I need to take!
Why no Econ upper division night classes offered???
I am not able to get into ANY courses for Spring 2006 at this point in time that are in the area of interest and meet my time requirements due to working full time
830- 430 pm at SFU Surrey
there have been no evening classes offered for BUS 362/364 or any 200 level CMPT course for several semesters.
no spaces left
Please open another section for Crim 321, please.
CMPT 165 is one of my mandatory classes and I feel I should have been able to enroll in it instead of CMPT 110
NO
The courses offered should provide more spaces, otherwise, it is very hard for an international student to be a full time student; and someone like me needs to
renew my student visa.
it's very hard to get classes and then it is hard to work them all together even if you can get them.
Is it not possible to go on a waitlist for this class? All the tutorials are full, yet I cannot get onto the waitlist. I'm in the Gen Science faculty and this is a Prerequisite
course.
It seemed to be about full before my specified registration time.
this system I find is not user friendly. Makes no sence when a course is listed on the time table but when i try and add this course it sais error.
I want Engl 350 offered on Tuesday evening because it would follow the geography course I am currently enrolled in for spring semester. I am hoping to get into a
second course that would be after the geography course. I am restricted to taking evening and distance ed. courses with my current work schedule and only need
English and geography courses, as well as PDP, to finish my degree. I work full time and have two children so it is not possible for me to be on campus a third
evening.
NO
I need kin 110. Please let me register.
I think people who are kinesiology majors should have some sort of priority for getting into courses they need. Quite a few people i know, who arn't kinesiology
majors were able to get into kin 143, but i was not, and i am a kinesiology major. It is very frustrating.
I have heard that one's GPA comes into account when deciding what day they get for registration. If this is true maybe there is a reason some students continually
get a low GPA, is it possible that they are never able to get the classes they want and are interested in and so they end up in classes they have no interest in
therefore it is difficult to excel making it so their GPA stays low?????!!!!!!!!
Due to many students in first year, there are a lack of classes that are available. There are many tutorials and labs that are offered, but it is unnecessary because if
the class is already full we cannot add the tutorials or labs as a class. Therefore, i think more class time should be offered and at different dates so that students
can limit their conflict with other classes.
I think there're too few seats for ling courses. I know ling is not a "popular" faculty but the fact is there are students wanting to get into some classes. I have heard
many of my ling classmates are unable to get the classes they want. Also, it's strange that not many classes are even open for next semester.
I have never had a semester yet where I have gotten into all of the courses I wanted. It is extremely frustrating to be consistently forced to replan a semester
because a course that is required is full. It is also delaying my graduation, as I am unable to take higher level courses because the prerequisites are full.

COMMENTS

There are too little laboratory sessions available for PSYC 280. (There are only 4 and they are all full already.)
I can't find the bottun of "waiting list".
I am majoring in Political Science, and I have declared my major. Yet I am still unable to get classes I am required to graduate. There are many students whom I've
talked to that has the same problem. The classes are always full by the time registration comes, and many times students not in the major often receive the classes
before those that have declared their major. I don't know how I am supposed to graduate if I can never get the required classes.
There's too little space, especially in the night time. I have to work in the day time!!
I don't think students should be denied registration in a course based on pre-requisite criteria. I understand the need for pre-requsites, but in many cases, a student
may have met the requirements by other means than those explained in the catalogue. I feel students should be able to register for courses as they please and pre-
requisites should be checked after so as to ensure they get into classes on time before they fill up.
Please add more seats, this course is required for taking BUS478 (Which required for me in order to graduate).
Too many courses conflict with each other, I've been forced for the second time to only take 3 courses this semester (when I'd like to take more), and only 2 of
which are required for my degree.
I am currently one the waitting list of FPA 171, and I really want to get into the class, but there is no space for Lab.
Yes, this is very frustrating. I have completed by B.A. but the PDP department requires me to take 6 more classes before I can apply for the program. The problem
is that I am not currently registered in any program so I'm at the bottom of the list for course choices. I am very unhappy, as I feel I should be much higher due to
the fact that I have already completed my B.A. At this rate, it will take 5 yrs to get the 6 courses needed, and that is completely unacceptable.
Linguistics students always have a hard time registering for courses every semester. There are so many students but then there is not enough space in most
linguistics courses. Hope there are more classes and more professors in linguistics department.
Yes...You have so many Courses which over lap in a program, such as Science. It is extremely difficult to figure out a schedule where labs and tutorials and
lectures do not conflict, and then when you do, those courses are impossible to get into.
How is someone who is trying to get into the Kinesiology program go about doing so if this course is always reserved for kin majors? I have a gpa of 3.33 and am
second year student, and I still didnt get into this course. It is rather unfair of the department to reserve so many seats. I have been trying to get into this course for
over four semesters, and I still can't get in.
There is only one Macroeconomic 105 course offered at the Burnaby Location. For those planning to finish lower divison requirements in economics, to further do a
major in economics, tends to take longer to finish required courses before we can persue any other economic courses.
Why are all the English courses always full? And there is no waiting list? I started enrolling right away- at my enrollment appointment. This is a major problem
because I needed to take at least 1 engl course this term. Hopefully, there will be enough Engl courses in the summer -maybe even more than fall/spring?
Because both of those semesters don't seem to have hardly enough space ever.
I've done this survey so many times. I think available space for upper divison courses are too few, there should be more. More sections to these upper division
courses are better for us, otherwise it's not fair.
For bisc 472, there should be more section offered since it is a required course for many people. As for CMNS 372, more section should be added as well since is
such a popular course so that more people are able to take the course

COMMENTS

I haven't been able to get an early appointment since I have attended Simon Fraser and I'm getting a little stressed about it. Everytime I try to enroll in a course
that I want, I can't get it. Therefore I have been forced to take courses that I don't want to take just so I can be full time. However, this year I decided that if I
counldn't get into a course that I wanted then I wouldn't waste my money and time just so I could be full time. I was unaware at the time that I needed to be full
time at school so my medical was covered. So now, instead of paying for one extra class, I have to pay for my medical. This term I still can't get into classes that I
want, and once again, I think that I will only be able to take two at the most, because the rest of the classes would be just fillers and useless to my career plan. So
in other words I'm not to happy with my appointment time and next year I hope it will be a better one.
I am in fourth year, 3 more semesters, and i still cannot get the courses i want to enroll in. It is a constant issue that never gets resolved and it hasa huge impact on
me, especially considering the fact i want to take a full course load so i am going to be paying to take courses i dont 100% want to be in.
I think the course selection time conflicts with one another or no space is available. I believe that all REQUIRED courses should be available in all semesters and
it is "important" that we are able to enroll in these coruses so no delays will be made. Elective courses is ok if it is no space is available but mostly REQUIRED
COURSES are the main point of focus for space availability since its the major importance of the program student is enrolled in. I also believe that courses should
be more flexible so that students can work, study and be involve in extra cirricular activities also. Flexibility will give students time to earn money in order to pay off
high tuition fees.
I was unable to get into the waiting list for either of these classes because that option wasn't even available. I need these courses for the nursing program I'm
applying to. It would be incredibly helpful if another section was opened since I know a lot of people would like to take these courses. Especially since they are
first year courses and prerequisites for the higher level courses.
upper division classes should offer more time because it is at this stage that all students majoring in specific areas need the same classes and if only few are
getting in. this causes a delay graduation time.
Declared Criminology students should have priority for required classes over those who just wish to take the course as an elective.
Please create additional sections (especially on campus) and/or increase the number of spaces available for upcoming future semesters (i.e. Summer 2006).
desires course taking place in burnaby campus
I'm worried how I will be able to fulfill all the elective requirements if I cannot get into the classes, and if spaces are reserved for students only in that faculty.
I think that it makes it really hard for people to graduate on time when they are unable to get the coursest that they need. If I was able to get EDUC 220, then I
would be able to graduate a semester earlier than I can now....I am very disappointed.
by the time I enrolled the English 101 was already all full or only had calsses in the Surrey campus
When a course is offered by distance, is there any possibility of hiring another tutor marker and offering more spaces? How many people are waitlisted for the
above classes? Is there a possibility of being added to a waitlist?
I would really like to get into any of these courses. I don't want to have to do all four in the same semester. Please Help Me!
When I tried to enroll in other courses ( like PSYC 356-3) an error message pops up saying that I don't meet the requirements/ pre-requisites. I already have a BA
in Psychology and I've done some of the courses that are part of the program (like Psycopathology ) and I thought I don't need to take the pre requisites for some
of the courses considering that I already have a BA. I appreciate your help to enroll in the courses. I applied for the Spring Semester and I couldn't get in in any of
them yet.
Offer more of such interesting courses
The sudden change in the course prepequisite will delay my graduation for at least a year.
please let me take this course, only this course fits my timetable, and i need this course to be full-time student to apply for student load. thanks a lot
Give me wrong date on my registeration form (Dec 18 instead of Nov 18). Many courses I wanted no longer offered or offered at Surrey campus only.
I need KIN 311 for the certificate...i would gladly give up my space in CRIM! PLEASE PLEASE REGISTER ME IN THE CORSE!!

I THINK THERE SHOULD BE AT LEAST 2 SECTIONS FOR THE COURSES THAT ARE OFFERED IN A SMALLER CLASS ROOM SUCH AS UNDER 60
PEOPLE. ALSO SFU SHOULD ALLOW TRANSFER STUDENTS TO REGISTER 300 LEVEL COURSES AS LONG AS THEIR ADMISSION GPA IS OVER 2.33
OR SO. DOESN'T HAVE TO HAVE SFU GPA. A LOT OF POEPLE FIND THAT RULE VERY POINTLESS AND STUPID (SORRY FOR THE LANGUAGE). WE
ARE PAYING STUDENTS. YOU WANT STUDENTS TO STUDY AT SFU, LET THEM STUDY. WHY SO MANY POINTLESS, STUPID RULES? JUST A
THOUGHT..
We need more spaces in classes!
there are never enough sections or linguistics upper level courses available.
Since it's only a second year course, more spots should be available.
what does it mean that the course is not on the active list?
i am in engineering faculty i try to add cmpt128 but it shows i need the permission from department
Clearly, not enough availability for upper level geography courses!
Hi there--it was the distance section that I was interested in--but I suppose it was my fault as I did have an early registration date but did not decide about this class
until a few weeks ago. Now it is too late :(
courses needed as prerequisites before declaring majors should be more widely available, especially when it is a regular occurance that they are full
I am on on the first position of the waiting list,
Some courses (like Psyc 361) are gone so quickly that i dont even know if they were offered this term at all!...I have the prerequisites for it and i would like to take
any of the 360-level psyc courses, but they are just not there!
Unable to register in any subject. Unable to get help at this time . Fustrated with this system, one cannot speak to a "Humen" person to answer simple questions
and quickly guide one on the correct path to complete enrollment.
The process of applying to the school of criminology seems to cause conflict for a lot of students. Perhaps it should be reconsidered.
Re : CNS210 4008 : No final exam date scheduled?
I find it frustrating especially for Kin courses that they are so limited in their offerings for the lower divisional courses for example Kin 201 and 207 that are required
to declare a minor/major to then proceed with a degree, and to add to the frustration, the courses conflict with courses that are prereqs in other departments like
Mbb 221, and Phys 121. So in essential I have to gamble and choose one course over another and hope that next semester I don't end up fighting the same battle
of full courses and conflicting times.
I want to choose 4 courses this semester. But this course is full.
I mainly prefer to enroll for courses as follow: ECON 301, 305 and Fren 120. I appreciate for your helping. Great holidays!!
Should offer more seats and been trying to register it for the past month
What about those of us who work full time and are trying to finish an arts degree??? There are only a couple of Upper Levels courses that work for those of us who
HAVE to finish thier degrees as a condition to the job they are in!! We need more evening classes on the Burnaby campus for arts students!!
I do not understand how BUS 251 (D200) has no more spaces available for the lecture but there are still many spaces for the tutorial
Only one place in each was available, all are full except conflicting times.
The ability to waitlist courses not displayed. Uncertain how to use waitlist.

COMMENTS

i probably would have been able to get it when i registered in november, but at the moment (january) the class is full and am unable to get it in. the only reason i
would drop crim 330 is because it is available during the summer.
This course is a core course for SIAT TAD stream, and it is not offered 1061, 1064, 1067, 1071.
the system is bad and confusing don't know who design ytyhis system
the go.sfu.ca user interface is counter-intuitive
I am a visiting student at SFU who has this problem each semester. I am not allowed to register until the first week of class at which point all courses I need to take
are full. Luckily in the past students have dropped the courses I needed to get into so registering was just delayed. However this issue also brings up financial
problems. The, a minor one, deals with the student U-pass. Although I plan on being a student at SFU this semester, and with good fortune will by the end of the
second week, I spend $7/day commuting to school because I cannot purchase a U-pass until I am registered. The second, and more important financial issue,
deals with student loans. I am not eligible to receive a student loan until I can prove that I am enrolled in classes.
In need of elective courses to graduate, but all desired ones are FULL!
Just stop xxxx students left right and center..we need to be able to graduate and take courses that aren't completely useless to us. For xxxx sake get it right and
ditch peoplesoft. This system is xxxx and has never worked properly. And it never will either. xxxx you guys xxxx.
Students should be able to be enrolled in a course that shows availability which in the case of PHIL XX1, it showed 61 availiable seats and with 5 waitlist also. If
there are seats avaliable, I don't believe that students have to wait on the waitlist for whatever the reason happen to be.
More linguistics courses should be offered! It is almost impossible to get in any the required classes. Many of the linguistics major students have the same
problem, we have no other choice but to delay graduation.
Overall it seems like you're doing a good job.
Even though I am a first year student, my registration date was on November 28th which ensured that I wouldn't not be able to get any of the classes that I wanted,
and all of the waitlists were full.
i don't like how tutorials are squished into certain days for example, for econ 291 and 260, tutorials are only available on monday and wednesday. that causes
inconvenience and conflict with other courese, especially when class numbers are so small.
it xxxx that only 80 people are allowed in distance ed
There are hardly any 400 level course available. There are honestly so few options. The Learning Disablility Lab course should be offered every term. That was
the last course I needed to complete my post bach. I am disappointed with course offerings.
I really want to take ECON 103 this semester because I'm taking BUS 207 next semster and ECON 103 is prerequisite.
required courses should be given priority to peopel who are only taking the courses as electives and time fillers
courses are either not avaliable or if they are ,courses required for one program conflict with other courses of that program .
I think spaces should be open earlier to people not in the same faculty.
I think that it's necessary that there be more fine arts courses available for those who wish to take them, even if they aren't a requirement, as it's important to
maintain a balanced knowledge, as that is the whole point of education. I am very disappointed in the selection in the fine arts department and have considered
transfering because of it.
there's 9 available seats for lecture but none in any tutorial. is this possible?
I came to class today. The first day of Mass Communications 130 in the Images Hall. There were approximately 30 empty seats and I checked just now to check if I
was in or not and I moved from 30th to 18th on the waitlist. I understand it is a great load of marking and for the TA's, but there were actually only about 5 of us
present today on the waitlist. And if I find out next week that I am in I will be behind in the readings. I need to know sooner.
