He found solace and joy in her company. Before his romance with Consuelo could blossom into to a serious affair, he suddenly backed out for two reasons: 1. He was still engaged to Leonor Rivera 2. His friend and co-worker in the Propaganda Movement. They Ask Me For Verses In 1882, shortly after his arrival in Madrid, Rizal joined the Circulo Hispano-Filipino (Hispano-Philippine Circle), a society of Spaniards and Filipinos. Upon the request of the members of this society, he wrote a poem entitled “Me Piden Versos” (They ask me for verses) which he personally declaimed during the New Years Eve. Francisco Pi y Margal - mamahayag, estadista, dating pangulo ng Unang Republika ng Espanyol. Manuel Becerra- ministro ng Ultramar (kolonya) Emilio Junoy - mamahayag, at kasapi ng Cortes ng Espanya. Juan Ruiz Zorilla - membro ng parlamento at pinuno ng Partidong Progresibong Republika ng Madrid. Marso 1883 - sumapi si Rizal sa lohiya ng Masonerya sa Madrid na tinatawag na Acacia. Nobyembre 15, 1890 – araw na naging pinunong Mason si Rizal ng Lohiya Solidaridad(Madrid). Pebrero 15, 1892 - si Rizal ay nagging pinunong Mason sa “ Le Grand Orient de France “ sa Paris. “Science, Vitue, and Labor” – isang panayam na ibinigkas ni Rizal sa Lohiya Solidaridad sa Madrid noong 1889. Mga Alalahaning Pinansyal Don Francisco (Ama ng bayani) – madalas na hinhingian ni Rizal ng pabor. Hunyo 25, 1884 – araw na nakabagbag- damdamin ni Rizal dahil sa pangyayaring naghihirap sya sa mga gastusin. Pagsaludo ni Rizal kina Luna at Hidalgo Hunyo 25, 1884 – isang pagdiriwang na kambal sa tagumpay ng mga pilipinong pintor sa Pambansang Eksposisyon sa Sining. Nakilahok si Rizal sa mga Demonstrayon ng mga Estudyante Nobyembre 20-22, 1884 – isang demonstrasyon ang yumanig sa lungsod ng Madrid dahilsa mga estudyante ng Unibersidad Central. Dr. Miguel Morayta - propesor ng kasaysayan. - ipinahayag ang “kalayaan ng agham at ng giyo”. Doktor Cirus – kinaiinisan ng lahat. Nakapagtapos ng pagaaral sa Espanya Hunyo 21, 1884 – iginawad kay Rizal ang digri ng Lisensyado sa medisina ng Unibersidad Central de Madrid.
