                                        Open Meditation
                                September 11, 12:00-4:00PM

Tonglen Meditation with Eric Spiegel, September 11th, 4:00-5:00PM

Come join us any time between 12:00 and 4:00PM for open, sitting meditation,
followed by guided tonglen mediation from 4:00-5:00PM.
Tonglen is a mediation practice to awaken compassion.

When we practice tonglen, we take in the pain of others and in return,
send out whatever we have inside of us that is positive,
breathing in suffering and breathing out relief and healing.

Eric Spiegel is a senior meditation teacher in the Shambhala-Buddhist tradition. He is also the treasurer of a
private Wall Street firm and practitioner at OM yoga center. One of his interests is in connecting the practices
of mindfulness and kindness within the worldly issues of wealth and relationships.

Cyndi Lee, director of OM yoga center, is a practitioner of both hatha yoga and Tibetan Buddhism, and has been
teaching yoga for over 20 years. Her offering as a teacher is the immediacy of the hatha yoga experience
informed by the Buddhist teachings of mindfulness, wisdom and compassion. Cyndi is the author and artist of the
best selling OM yoga in a box series (Beginner, Intermediate and Couples), as well as OM Yoga, A Daily Practice

Come be with friends and neighbors on this powerful anniversary day. We will be holding a sacred space - to
remember, to speak, to release, to receive, to pray for ourselves and for all those whose lives have been impacted,
and to offer our light to each other and the planet. We will also chant the mantra, “Om Namah Shivaya” a powerful
Sanskrit healing chant and sit in silent meditation for a brief period. If weather and the church permit, we will be
lighting candles outside the church at the end. People are invited to bring candles suitable for this purpose if they
would like to participate. It’s free but any donations will go to the church for the use of the space.

                                             (Suggested donation $2-$5).

We’d like to start by 8, so please try and arrive between 7:45 and 8 pm.

These events are part of a campaign called “Take A Deep Breath” sponsored by
The New York Center for Kripalu Yoga and Health in partnership with NYC Recovers.
