the websites we have listed for student and family use. If you have not had a chance to do so, you may want to view

accessed and used at home.
Midterm Reports
Midterm reports are coming home today. If you have questions or concerns, you are welcome to send a note to your
child's teacher, or call the school to speak with the teacher or Mrs. Brewer. If the teacher is with his/her classroom, we
will make sure a note is given to call you at his/her earliest convenience.
Breakfast/Lunch
We offer both a breakfast and lunch service at school. Students may also bring their lunch to school. We ask that those lunches be
healthy and contain no soda drinks. You may send in money: 1) weekly, 2) for the number of days eating, 3) with a specific amount to
be applied to your child’s account. Please send this in a sealed envelope with your child’s name and the teacher’s name.
Breakfast amount - $1.25 Lunch - $2.00 Weekly amount for lunch - $10.00 Weekly amount for both - $16.25
If you feel you would be eligible for Free-Reduced Lunch, we encourage you to apply for that program. If you have questions about
eligibility, call the office. Families receiving food stamps are automatically eligible after we receive the form.
Breakfast/Lunch Bills
Every Friday students will receive a cafeteria notice. Please check this regularly to see if you have a balance due.
If your balance exceeds $10.00, your child will be served a peanut butter sandwich and milk instead of a choice lunch. No breakfast
will be served to children if the account exceeds the balance. When the account is in good standing, children will be able to choose
again and attend breakfast. The cafeteria program must be self-sustaining financially. So, we appreciate your assistance in paying your
bills promptly. If you have questions concerning your bill or want a current balance, please call the school and ask for Rita.
Free/Reduced Lunch Forms
Free/Reduced Lunch forms came home the first day of school. If you feel you may be eligible for these programs, be sure to turn the
form in right away to get the full benefit of the programs. If you have questions about eligibility, call the office. Families receiving
food stamps are automatically eligible after we receive the form.
Attendance Policy
We ask that all families make sure they have reviewed, and review with their children, the South Harrison Community
School Corporation's Parent/Student Handbook. Please pay special attention to the attendance and tardy policies on pages
three and four.
Clothing
We have loaned out a great deal of clothing to students who have needed clothes due to sickness, accidents, etc. Please
make sure we have these returned clean and ready for someone else to use. Thanks
Volunteers and Chaperones
Are you interested in volunteering or going on a class trip with your child this year? Anyone working with or going on
study trips with our children must have a background check with our local sheriff’s department. Please plan to do this
right away so you will be able to do these things with your child’s class.
1. Go down to the Harrison County Sheriff’s Department and fill out the form. There will be no cost to you.
2. Make sure you have a photo ID.
3. We will receive notification after the form is processed.
4. If you are sure that you already have one on file, you do not need to fill out a new form, but you may want to
call to make sure we have it on file.
This process is in place to assist in keeping a safe environment for our students. We appreciate your support and look
forward to working with you after these are processed.
Jay C is Supporting Schools
The school will earn points for each dollar spent at Jay C. These points may be applied to earn supplies and sport
equipment. All you need to do is sign up at the customer service booth at Jay C. It is free for you and the points will
accumulate for us.

“Caught Being Good” Program
We have a program in the cafeteria to promote positive behavior. It is called “Kittens Caught Being Good.” When
“caught,” students who are being extra helpful, courteous, or showing excellent behavior in the cafeteria will be given a
ticket to sign. Their names will be put into a box for a drawing. Several students will be drawn each month and receive a
coupon, prize or be allowed to eat in a special place with a friend. We want to thank the many local restaurants who
provide coupons for our students.
“Kitten Kudos” Program
Kudos means to praise or give fame. We are certainly proud of the work our students do and the positive behaviors we
see out of them daily. To spotlight these behaviors, we have a program called “Kitten Kudos.” Teachers are encouraged
to send up students to the office to see the principal each semester for positive behaviors and/or improved academics.
The child will sign in the “Kitten Kudos” book and his/her name will be posted in the Kitten Connection newsletter for
the week. Mrs. Brewer is looking forward to seeing students for this reason.
Kitten Kudos
Wow! Congratulations to the following students who were sent to the office to sign the Kitten Kudos book:
