                   THE CHAIRMAN
THE MONTH STARTED ON A HIGH NOTE with the Dedication of the Garstang Masonic Hall on
November 6.
The hall was packed to capacity and we were all treated to a memorable ceremony of Dedication carried out by our P.G.M. and his
Provincial Team. I was fortunate to be acting as Worshipful Master of a Lodge formed for the occasion and was ably assisted by
Wo.Bro’s Tony Harrison, Martin Baxendale, Malcolm Graham, Mike Walling, Chris Butterfield, Barry Robinson and David
Roberts. After we had opened in the Third Degree the Provincial Director of Ceremonies entered the Lodge and announced the
presence of the R.W.P.G.Master who accepted from me the Gavel of the Lodge and then opened a meeting of Provincial Grand
Lodge. After his officers had taken their positions our P.G.M. presided over a very accomplished ceremony of Dedication.
After the ceremony had been completed W.Bro William Richmond was promoted to the very high rank of P.Pr.J.G.Warden for his
outstanding service to the Garstang Masonic Hall Company over the last 20 years.
The day was rounded of with an excellent Dinner to celebrate the occasion.
We wish Garstang Masonic Hall every success for the future. It will take a lot of hard work to ensure the building is used to its full
capacity for both Masonic and Non-Masonic events but I am sure the Directors are well capable of rising to that challenge.
Sunday November 9 was Remembrance Sunday and we were invited by Carnforth Town Council to take part in their Service of
Remembrance at the War Memorial. I was honoured to lay a wreath as we have done for the last few years, and was accompanied by
members of Carnforth ,Warton and Silverdale Lodges and Carnforth Chapter. This year for the first time we also took part in the
Ceremonies at Morecambe Cenotaph where my Vice-Chairman laid the wreath and at Lancaster Cenotaph where the Master of the
Duke of Lancaster Lodge laid the wreath. I now hope this will be an annual event so that we can demonstrate our commitment as
Freemasons and perhaps next year the members at Garstang could arrange with the Council to take part so that all of the Group is
November is always a busy month for Installations, Ladies Evenings, and social events. I have represented our Provincial Grand
Master on two occasions this month and I do thank my fellow Grand Officers for turning up and supporting me together with our
acting officers for their support, and on behalf of my Vice-Chairman and Group Secretary I do thank all the Lodges and Chapters we
have visited for their generous hospitality and warm welcome.
As this will be the last Newsletter before Christmas may I wish you and your families a very happy, peaceful and enjoyable
Christmas and the very best of health in the New Year to come

A Very Merry Christmas to you all.

R.W. BRO PETER HOSKER is seen, right,
congratulating W.Bro. William Richmond on
his promotion to P.Pr.J.G.W.
The presentation of the new collar was made
at the opening and dedication of the new
Masonic Hall at Garstang on November 6 (see
main story on pages one and two).
 Praising W.Bro. William’s unstinting efforts
over the years and most especially as a prime
mover in bringing the Garstang Masonic Hall
project to such a wonderful conclusion, he
was delighted to award the collar of
P.Pr.J.G.W. which was met with universal
acclaim by all the brethren present.

THE GALA DINNER in aid of the 2010 Festival was held on OCTOBER 31 at The Carleton Inn
The evening was attended by around 120 people, and proved a great success with over £1,300 being raised for the 2010 Festival.
The Carleton provided those present with a superb dinner, and this was followed by a highly entertaining speech from the guest
speaker, Mr Norman Prince.
The Gala Dinner Prize draw was made during the evening, and among the major
prize winners present were W.Bro. Rex Morris and Bro. Peter Whaley. All
Charity Stewards will be receiving a list of winners in the near future as not all
were present.
In addition to the Prize Draw, a special draw was made for the lady’s present of
a luxury pamper day at Brooklands Country Retreat & Health Spa in Garstang.
