CHIETA ETQA NEWSFLASH 4th July 2007

Dear CHIETA Accredited and Learning Programme-Approved Providers

Please note a list of qualifications within the CHIETA’s primary focus below.
These qualifications and trades have been awarded by SAQA to the CHIETA
ETQA to quality assure within the chemical industries sector. Most of the
CHIETA’s active providers have to date been providing education and training
against some of these qualifications. As you know, some of these qualifications,
especially those under Engineering and Related design are currently under
review.

Once the review is finalized, SAQA will register the qualifications on the NQF and
award them to the CHIETA if they still meet the chemical industries sector needs.
Once SAQA has awarded these to the CHIETA ETQA, the CHIETA ETQA will,
as in the past notify all the constituent providers about this, and encourage,
support you to prepare for and apply for accreditation.
This Newsflash is primarily meant to notify and remind all the CHIETA
potential, accredited and approved Providers about the availability of
qualifications highlighted in a red font below. Most of these highlighted
qualifications have not been used by providers, although they were developed
and registered by the Chemical Industries Standard Generating Body (CISGB)
and communicated to the providers.

From this list, those that are newly registered by SAQA and recently awarded to
the CHIETA to quality assure are indicated with a hash sign #.

Please note: CHIETA accredited and approved Providers must please consider
offering the qualifications in your training programmes by extending your scope
to include them. Some providers already have the qualifications within their
scope. If so please activate them. The ETQA will support your company to
come up to speed as we have done in the past, though our focused provider
supports interventions. Note that should there be no uptake of qualifications;
SAQA could consider removing them from the primary scope of the CHIETA.
