Installing your Phone Adapter

Need help setting up your Phone Adapter? Here are the required steps:

Please note - The first time you connect your Phone Adapter you should ensure that it is connected
directly to your Internet service and your PC is directly connected to your Phone Adapter.

   1) Shut down your computer.

   2) Remove all of the contents from the Phone Adapter box and ensure nothing is missing.

           a. The box should contain:
                   i. Phone Adapter
                  ii. Blue cable
                 iii. Ac Adapter (2 pieces)
                 iv. Xplornet Features Guide
                  v. 911 Letter
vi. Two 911 stickers for your phones handset

                                              ii.

                                                       iii.

                                     iv.-v.
                                                              i.

                                              vi.

   3) You will need to plug the cable coming from your Subscriber Module/wall into the plug marked “Internet”.
This is the cable that was plugged into your Ethernet port on your computer.

                                                                                                            3
   4) Now take the blue cable that was in the box and plug one end of it into the yellow plug marked
“Ethernet” on the Phone Adapter. Plug the other end into the back of your computer in the Ethernet
      port.

   5) Take your phone cord and plug one end into the plug marked “Phone Cord 1”. The other end should be
      plugged into your phone.

If you are using a cordless phone you may plug the cordless phone’s base station into the Phone
Adapter. This will allow you to experience the convenience of multiple phones connected to your
       Xplornet ipTALK Broadband Phone Service!

Now that your Phone Adapter is plugged in and powered on, turn your computer on and open up your Internet
browser to ensure that you are still able to open web pages. If you are unable to open web pages please go back
to Step 1 and re-do the steps to ensure all plugs are in the proper places. If you are still unable to open web
pages please call 1-866-841-6001 and our Customer Care agents will be happy to help you.

                                                                                                             4
Hotel Set-up

If you are traveling and would like to bring your Xplornet ipTALK Broadband Phone Adapter with you so that you
do not miss any calls while away the set-up in the hotel is quite simple! Please remember to bring the Phone
Adapter, the blue Ethernet cord and the power cord. Once you arrive at the hotel you will need to plug the
Ethernet cable that the hotel has provided in your room into the plug marked “Internet”.

If you have a laptop or computer with you that you would like access to high-speed on take the blue cable and
plug one end of it into the Yellow plug marked “Ethernet” on the Phone Adapter. Plug the other end into the
back of your computer in the Ethernet port. If you do not have a laptop or computer you may skip this step.

Now take the phone cord from the wall and plug into the port marked “Phone Cord 1”. The other end should
be plugged into your phone. You are now ready to receive and make phone calls from the phone number that
was provided to you by Xplornet!

                                                                                                                 5
If you have a router, plug your Internet connection into the Phone Adapter first and then your router into your
Phone Adapter. Your Internet connection MUST be the first item plugged into your Phone Adapter. However, in
order to properly activate your broadband phone service, your PC must be connected directly to the Telephone
Adapter. Once you activate your broadband phone service you can then install your router. To connect a router,
plug your Internet connection into the Phone Adapter first and then your router into your Phone Adapter. Your
internet connection MUST be the first item plugged into your Phone Adapter. The following diagram shows the
proper method when connecting a router.

                                                                                                             6
