Dear Customer,
We congratulate you on your purchase of a Valentine deep fryer. This is a high quality

The instructions below take into account new legislation concerning product liability as well
as EU and international safety standards.

1. Important note

1.1 Warnings
Before using your deep fryer, please make sure you observe the following:

⇒ study and strictly follow the instructions given below

⇒ notify personnel on how to use the deep fryer correctly and draw their attention
       to inherent risks

Valentine Fabrique SA disclaims any liability for damage or injury caused by incorrect
use of the deep fryer and failure to comply with the operating instructions

1.2 Inherent risks • Hot oil can cause severe burns
Avoid all direct contact with the body
                                     • Drain food well before frying
                                     • Never put water or ice in the oil. This will cause splashing and
                                       overflow of the pan
                                     • Do not put your face close to the hot oil when introducing foods
                                       into the pan
                                     • Keep away from steam and oil splashes
                                     • Never put anything other than food into the oil, for example gas
cartridges, sealed tins, etc as this could cause explosion and
                                       splashes of burning oil
                                     • The deep fryer should not be operated without supervision. If
start smoking, turn off (switch at position « 0 »)
                                     • The oil level should never fall below the "MIN" marker. If the
level is too low (level with the heating element),
                                       the oil may catch fire
                                     • In the event of fire, do not use water to extinguish it
                                     • It is advisable to install a fire extinguisher near the deep fryer
and have a fire blanket near at hand

1.3 Periodic checks
♦ Check regularly that the adjustable thermostat and the safety thermostat are operating
   properly (see 5.3)

3. Installation

3.1 Important precautions for installation
♦ The purchaser must have the deep fryer installed at his own cost by an approved dealer, in accordance with
  local regulations
♦ The voltage, frequency and current should comply with the information given on the rating plate on the deep
  fryer
♦ The deep fryer should in any case be connected to safety earth by the lead. The deep fryer is supplied with a
hose cable 1,9 m in length
Conductor colours: Earth : yellow / green
                                                        Neutral: blue
♦ In the case of the narrow format deep fryers P1-94 and P1-94T, there is a risk of tilting in the event of lateral
impact. These models should be placed between 2 units or fixed at the sides
♦ Before connecting the power supply, set switch [E] to « 0 ». Never heat up without oil

3.2 Examples of installation
When cooking potato chips, a lot of steam is emitted. Proper extraction is therefore required.

3.2.1 Example of installation I (Fig. 1)
Wall plug [F] protected against vertical drops of water or protected against splashes of water.

3.2.2 Example of installation II (Fig. 2)
Deep fryer positioned centrally against the stove, for example. Connecting bracket [H] with socket or splash
protection.

3.2.3 Example of installation III (Fig. 3)
Junction box [J] with 4-pole 3P+N switch positioned above the deep fryer, with fixed cable. As this within the
steam flow path, the box should be leaktight.

3.3 Cleaning (Fig. 4)
When cleaning the floor and walls, the deep fryer can be pulled forwards [K]. The main lead should be quite
long.

4. Instructions for use

4.1 Filling with oil
Lift cover [1] (see fig.5, p.6) by handle [3] ◊ The cover provides protection against oil spattering
and hook on by slots [13] onto the edges behind
of the pan
Check that the heating coils [25] are all at ◊ The probe of the thermostat [29] should be between
the bottom the heating coils. Never rest the heating element on
                                                      the probe
Fill the pan with ground-nut oil up to the oil ◊ Animal and vegetable fats that set when cold are not
level marker [24] recommended. If the use of fats cannot be avoided,
melt in a pan. Never melt blocks of solid fat on the
                                                      heating elements

After using each time, top up the oil level. If the oil level is too low, efficiency will be
lost and the oil will overheat.

4.2 Starting up, cooking
Turn the switch [10] to position «1» ⇒ clear pilot lamp [8] lights up

Turn the thermostat button [11] to the ⇒ yellow pilot light comes on

Set the cooking time on the timer [6], for ⇒ see cooking chart
example 3 minutes
As soon as the timer rings, lift the basket ⇒ Do not remove the basket from the pan, but shake
and place on the tray [23] horizontally on the tray. Then hook the back of the
basket [22] on the bottom of the cover [21]

The yellow pilot light will go out as soon as the thermostat cuts off the power.

Never overfill the basket, ² • the oil cools down too quickly
always make sure the oil • cooking takes too long

4.3 How to save oil
∗ Do not leave deep fryer on before or after using (the fryer only takes 5 minutes to
heat up). The high temperature destroys the oil also without food.
∗ Limit the temperature at 180 oC instead of 200 oC -> life time of oil plus 40 % !
∗ After each service, pass the oil through a microfilter (optional). This will retain even
microscopic particles and can be reused many time over.

4.5 Servicing the deep fryer, changing the oil, cleaning
The mechanical and electrical parts of the deep fryer do not required servicing. However,
thorough cleaning when oil is changed is strongly recommended. The oil should be replaced
as soon as it becomes dark brown in colour and starts to smoke (after about 20 to 50 hours'
use).
Waste oil must only be put into suitable containers and disposed of
according to local regulations.
Turn the switch [10] to position «0», and open the ⇒ let oil run out

To reset:
- Disconnect the deep fryer (switch in position « 0 »)
- Leave the deep fryer to cool down (to accelerate cooling, lift the heating element and rest
it on the edge of the pan). Until the probe of the thermostat fixed to the heating element
cools down, you cannot reset the safety thermostat
- Push the red button hard (you will hear a « click » when it engages)

5.4 Safety switch
As soon as the heating element is lifted more than 5 mm, the safety switch is actuated and
cuts off the power.

Check that the heating element box is resting properly on the edge of the tank.
