FLAMING GORGE NATIONAL RECREATION AREA APRIL – 2008 UPDATE (435) 784-3445 http://www.fs.fed.us/r4/ashley USE CAUTION ON RESERVOIR: Due to warm spring thaws and wind it is important for all ice fishermen, as well as other users, to be extremely careful if they venture on the Flaming Gorge Reservoir. Ice conditions are changing each day with deterioration and more open water is becoming visible. The only boat launching areas that are free of ice are located at Mustang Ridge and Cedar Springs. Weather pending, ramps will be in place approximately April 19th. WILDLIFE VIEWING: Travel cautiously on all highways. Wildlife is hanging close to the road edges and as green grass appears they will be even more tempted to seek the fresh vegetation. Use safety measures for yourself as well as the animal life. DISTRICT ROADS CONTINUE TO BE CLOSED –Check the District’s travel map for roads and trails open to snowmobiles. Call the Manila District Office for more information. (435-784-3445) GREEN FLAMING GORGE ANNUAL PASS – The $20.00 green colored annual recreation pass is available. It is valid for the specific calendar year. If you have questions, call the Manila (435-784-3445) or Green River Office for more information. (307-875-2871) FLAMING GORGE RESERVOIR AND GREEN RIVER Full reservoir is 6,040 feet. Current elevation is 6,021.42 feet. Releases from Flaming Gorge Dam are running about 820 CFS. Green River temperature is approximately 39 degrees. For current information on lake elevation and river flow call 1-800-752-8525 or on the Web at: http://www.uc.usbr.gov/wrg/crsp/crsp_40_fgd.txt. LIFE JACKETS ARE REQUIRED ON RIVER. For the current UDWR fishing report for the northeast region log on to: http://www.wildlife.utah.gov/fishing/reports_ne.php VISITOR CENTER WINTER HOURS Flaming Gorge Dam: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM daily. Partial tours are being done across the crest of the Dam on Fri., Sat., Sun., and Mon. only. Contact (435) 885-3135 for more information. Red Canyon Visitor Center: Closed for season. April 13th will be the opening for Cedar Springs and Deer Run at half price, and April 15th will open the Green River Camps. No water is available at this time.
