                                      Salary: R139 968 per annum
  (Salary will be determined in accordance with experience inline with the Occupational Specific Dispensation)
                    The successful candidate will be required to sign a performance agreement

                                      Magistrate Office: Cape Town

Requirements: ● LLB degree or four year recognised legal qualification ● At least two (2) years relevant post
qualification legal experience.

Job Purpose: ● To coordinate and manage the rendering of case flow management support to all divorce court
stakeholders.

Duties: ● Serve as liaison between the Department and Regional Court President and between the Department
and all Registrars’ offices ● Provide inputs with regard to rules, procedures and practices and costs periodically in
co-operation with the Regional Court President, Court Manager and Judiciary ● Conduct special investigations as
requested by National Office or the Court Manager ● Consult on a regular basis with the respective provincial law
societies as well as with the national law association on practice and procedures ● Assist in the inspection of the
office annually and also check returns and furnish statistics for departmental annual report ● Check and analyse
case roll statistics ● Exercise control over records as well as the record room and deal with the files in terms of the
Archives Code/Act ● Give attention to and execute requests from the Judiciary in connection with cases and on
other case related matters ● Conduct interviews and furnish an advisory service to attorneys, advocates and the
public restricted only to practices and procedures in that court ● Tax legal bills of costs and attend to the review
which may follow from such taxation ● Attend courts when civil and divorce trial cases are distributed to
Regional Court Magistrates by the Regional Court President and allocate courts to Regional Magistrates ● Ensure
that court orders are correct prior to affixing signature to such court orders ● Ensure annotation of relevant
publications, codes, acts and rules ● Manage applications/requests for access to information ● Prepare
relevant documents e.g. finalized cases, pending cases etc. ● Keep daily, weekly or monthly statistics
● Write and respond to correspondence ● Authenticate signatures of legal practitioners and sworn
translators ● Consider default judgements ● Do performance agreement
