					Harry James Potter.
Harry Potter was born on July the 31st in the year of 1980, in the small town of Godric’s
Hollow . Harry was an only son to Lily and James Potter. Lily (Evans) Potter and James
were both students at Hogwarts from 1971 - 1978 in the same house of Gryffindor (there
were four houses in the wizarding school of Hogwarts and they were Slytherin, Hufflepuff,
Ravenclaw and ofcourse Gryffindor, which was known for its students bravery) and both
James and Lily were a prefects in their 6th year and head boy/girl in their 7th. Lily, Harry’s
mother was a mudblood ( A mudblood is a witch or wizard who was born not of wizard
and witch parents but muggles, who are normal non wizarding humans like us) while on
the other hand James was pure (born of both wizard and witch mother and father). On
October the 31st 1981 both James and Lily were murdered by Voldemort yet voldemorts
spell rebounded and almost killed himself and only Harry was saved by the love of his
mother Lily. On November the first Hagrid delivers Harry to Albus Dumbledore to leave on
the footstep of number 4 Privet Drive (Lilys Muggle sister Ms. Petunia Dursley). Harry
Potter in his 1st year of Hogwarts on his first ever game caught the Golden Snitch against
Slytherin.

“It takes a great deal of courage to stand up to your
enemies, but a great deal more to stand up to your
                                   friends.”
                           - Albus Dumbledore in “Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone”
Harry grew up in a house of Muggles who didn’t appreciate Harry’s true history or existence. Harry received
a scar when his parents died and he was almost killed by Voldemort, yet his Aunty and Uncle Dursley told
him that he had received it when his parents had died in a ‘car crash’. Every chance the Dursleys had they
tried to ‘squash’ the magic out of him and his life. Harry was treated harsh and unfairly especially compared
to the Dursleys son Dudley. Harry was never given anything on his birthday or given clothes which fitted him
and was always yelled at for things which were out of his control in comparison to Dudley who got whatever
he wanted whenever he wanted – an example of this being the time Dudley’s Aunty Marge brought Dudley
and computerised robot and Harry, a box of dog biscuits. Harry was unaware of his true self and history
until his 11th birthday when mysterious letters had been forcing their way into the Dursleys home addressed
to Harry, a large strange man named Hagrid found Harry and the Dursleys in a hut and explained to Harry, his
true identity. Harry is only truly able to be happy when he is at Hogwarts or away from the Dursleys and
                                                                         their physical and Verbal abuse.

                                                                              what it'd be like

                                                                                Harry Potter -
                                                                              Sarcastically - in

                                                                              the Order of the
                                                                              Pheonix.
Harry changes his views on his self regularly, but was often positive in the times he needed it
most. Harry and his friends almost always seems to find humour in every situation they are
faced with. Despite the loss of his Parents at such a young age, the trauma of your school
believing you’re murdering other students, the death of fellow friends such as Cedric Diggory,
Albus Dumbledore, Sirius and Dobby Harry with the support of his friends seems to be able to
continue to fight on and conquer many obstacles which come within his journey of life. I believe
Harry’s friends at Hogwarts seriously impact Harry’s sense of self, I believe this as whenever
Harry is having a fight with his friends he is much less positive about himself and seems to make
much less thought out and well planned decisions. Harry has much less happiness without his
friends thoughts, advice and playful humour. I believe humour is a key to happiness as it opens
ones mind to thoughts which can get you away from where you are.

“ Courage is a quality so necessary for maintaining virtue, that it is
always respected, even when it is associated with vice.”
                         - Albus Dumbledore in “Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone”
Some quotes which I was able to find that Harry has said which I believe reference
               back to his ‘sense of self’ are such quotes as;
“ "It's just hard," Harry said
“ "And they'd* love to have me,"
” I believe this is an example of when said Harry sarcastically. "We'd be
Harry was doubting his abilities and sense of self as he afterwards sighs which is often best pals if they didn't keep trying
and sign of defeat (note I am aware in other cases it can be a sigh of relief, yet not in
this case.) to do me in.“
                                                                                                                ”
“ If I get caught before I can get to the stone, well, I'll
I believe this is an example of
Harry when he has a good sense of self, as he is able
to find humour in such a serious topic for himself .
have to go back to the Dursleys and wait for Voldemort to (note they’d* is a reference to the Death Eaters)
find me there, it's only dying a bit later than I would have,
because I'm never going over to the Dark Side! I'm going
through that trapdoor tonight and nothing you two say is
going to stop me! Voldemort killed my parents,

remember?“ “
- I believe this quote shows both Harrys good and bad side of his sense of self. I
believe it shows good as he is determined and knows that he wants to do and
knows he is better than someone who changes to the dark side. Though Harry
is quite stern with his words I still manage to find a bad side of his sense of self
through the way he talks about himself dying and how its doesn’t matter that
much.
There were many different things Harry did in an attempt to at least try and overcome his
difficulties with adversity and loss. Not all of them were very helpful as sometimes Harry
was overcome with rage. Harry usually sook out the advice of his close friends and staff of
Hogwarts such as Hermione, Ron, Dumbledore, his beloved Hagrid and etc. Yet sometimes
when Harry was so overcome with rage he would accidently do spells, which could
seriously harm students and teachers/muggles alike. Harry also seeks the comfort of a
photo album of his parents which moves and waves at him, I believe being able to see his
parents is a form of comfort for Harry. Harry has learnt mostly to embrace his adversity
and not to deny who he is. Harry also used retaliation on some other students who made
fun of him and or his friends, but as he was so used to the hurt from the Dursleys, it
wasn’t easy to force Harry into
                                                     retaliation.
