MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING
Between
[Employer]
and
[Union]
WHEREAS the Parties have been in discussion about creating full-time position(s) from
part-time hours from a minimum of two homes and, further, that such positions would
be filled for a one-year trial period,
NOW THEREFORE the Parties agree to the following:
1. The job will be known as a “multi-site” [RN or RPN] position between [name of one
participating home] and [name of other participating home].
2. The one-year trial period, the position(s) will be filled by part-time employee(s). If
the position cannot be filled by internal part-time employees, the position will be
offered to internal full-time employees and, lastly, to external applicants.
3. The position will be posted as per the language of the collective agreement.
4. The candidate will be selected from the homes identified in the posting, then from
any home.
5. The selected candidate will remain an employee and member of the bargaining unit
of the home where she/he currently works.
6. Seniority and service for all time spent working in the multi-site position shall
accumulate in the home that is designated as her/his employer.
7. Vacation and leave time shall be granted according to the rules and the collective
agreement of the home designated as the employer, recognizing that consultation
between the sites is required before approval is given.
8. Scheduling rules and regulations will follow the collective agreement and practices
of the designated home.
9. In the event of a lay-off in the full-time complement, the multi-site position will be
laid off first.
10. This Memorandum of Understanding is null and void at the end of the 12-month
trial.

11. This trial position shall be discontinued in any home when:
a. The employee wishes to do so for reasons that are neither
unreasonable nor arbitrary.
b. The [employer] wishes to do so because of:
i) adverse effects on resident care
ii) inability to provide a workable staffing schedule
iii) other reasons that are neither unreasonable nor arbitrary.
When either Party, in accordance with the above, gives notice of discontinuance,
then:
a. The Parties shall meet within two (2) weeks of the giving of notice to
review the request for discontinuation, and
b. Where it is determined that the multi-site trial will be discontinued,
affected employee(s) shall be given at least sixty (60) days’ notice
before the schedules are so amended.

MEMORANDUM OF AGREEMENT

WHEREAS [Employer 1] and [Employer 2] have a well-established relationship,
NOW THEREFORE the Parties agree to the following terms and conditions:
1. This project will create at least one (1) temporary full-time [RN/RPN] position working at
both sites.
2. The opportunity will be posted at both sites and filled in accordance with [Article ??] of the
collective agreement.
3. The selected candidate will remain an employee and member of the bargaining unit with
the institution where she/he currently works, and only that institution will then be
designated as her/his employer.
4. Seniority and service for all time spent working at both sites shall be accumulated in the
bargaining unit at the institution that is designated as the employer.
5. Vacation and leave time shall be granted according to the rules and collective agreement of
the institution designated as the employer, recognizing that consultation is required
between the two sites before approval is given.
6. Scheduling rules and regulations (including overtime and premiums) of the Central
collective agreement and Local Appendix in effect at the institution designated as the
employer shall govern.
7. The institution designated as the employer shall maintain all health records, employee files,
and liability coverage for work performed at both sites.
