Private Marketplace for Late-Stage Private Companies is Driving Greater Efficiencies and Transparency to
Private Equity Investing

March 21, 2011 09:09 AM Eastern Daylight Time

SAN BRUNO, Calif.--(EON: Enhanced Online News)--SharesPost, the online marketplace for private
investments, today announced that its Members have completed more than 250 investments in the shares of 30
different companies during Q1 2011. SharesPost now provides more than 60,000 members with the information,
tools and assistance they need to buy and sell shares in the most exciting late-stage, private companies. To support
its current and future growth, SharesPost has added several new hires, namely Michael Guthrie, senior vice
president, who will lead SharesPost’s business development activities, including helping private companies to raise
primary capital. SharesPost strives to bring new investors into the capital formation process and to create a more
efficient way for growth companies to finance themselves at a lower cost.

“Prior to the creation of the SharesPost online marketplace there was no efficient way for buyers and sellers of
private company stock to find each other, connect and transact,” said David Weir, CEO at SharesPost. “In just 19
months, SharesPost has emerged as the leading online secondary marketplace—as measured by number of
members, the breadth of transaction types for private company investors, the quantity and quality of independent
research reports and, importantly, the number of completed contracts. We’re looking forward to rapid growth
through 2011 as we continue to develop a capital market that serves the needs of late stage private companies and
their shareholders.”

To date, SharesPost has facilitated more than one and a half billion dollars’ worth of posts to buy and sell private
company shares. Members, who include a broad universe of accredited and institutional investors, have completed
more than 400 transactions in more than 30 companies. SharesPost’s online platform, coupled with the Company’s
use of innovative technology and the assistance and transaction expertise offered by its FINRA registered securities
brokers, provides Members with the most transparent and efficient way to invest in private company stock.

Helping to drive the growth of the SharesPost marketplace are key leaders, including:

l Mike Guthrie, who joins the Company as senior vice president. Mr. Guthrie brings more than 20 years of
both growth equity and value investing experience, including co-founding Texas Pacific Group Ventures and
serving as a Partner of Garnett & Helfrich Capital.
l Charles Haims, who joins SharesPost as vice president of product management. Mr. Haims has spent the last
15 years in financial services at industry leaders and pioneering online financial service platforms such as
Charles Schwab and e*Trade Financial. His responsibilities include product management, research and
        strategy.
l Andrea Cohen, who joins SharesPost as vice president of legal affairs. Ms. Cohen has more than 15 years of
experience in counseling privately held companies and the private equity funds that invest in them. Having
practiced law at Morrison & Forrester, Cooley Godard Kronnish and Nixon Peabody, she brings experience
as counsel to investment funds, institutional investors and venture capital firms.
l Jaclyn Strife, who joins the Company as a transaction specialist. Ms. Strife is a FINRA licensed professional
with financial services experience from Merriman Holdings, Inc. where she focused on the OTC market.
