The Science Source TSS - Physikgeräte für Schüler

linear motion to be perceived as
curvilinear motion, and is different in
                                        the Northern and Southern
                                        hemispheres. A ball can be
launched from the center or from the
edge of the rotating disk, leaving a

This classic apparatus is based on
                                           history's earliest steam engine,
                                           originally described by Hero of
Alexandria about 100 AD. It consists
of a flask, two opposing nozzles and
a suspension chain. A small quantity
of water, when heated, will cause
steam jets from the nozzles making
the vessel rotate. This is an
example of Newton's Third Law of
                                           action and reaction.

A significant manual of ideas and
                                           issues accompanies this novel
                                           apparatus with the provocative title.
Columns of dye in a viscous medium
appear to mix, colors add the way
they always do, and then the
                                           unthinkable happens – the dyes
unmix. The situation seems to be
reversible a large number of times.
                                           A clever demonstration becomes a
                                           springboard into discussions about
energy and the ultimate fate of the

blue, and green LED's as well as an
                                             adjacent white LED. Colors are

A continuous reference spectrum is projected as well as the spectrum

                                            supplied ready to demonstrate the
                                            attraction principle of levitation
using an elevated track and a wrap-
                                            around model train.

By adding the enclosed guide ways, the repulsive principle of levitation
can be investigated. In this mode the tracks can be hinged at any
desired angle or connected to a 2,4m track.

                                             without Friction on Beads

Now younger students in the lower
                                             grades can explore motion without
                                             friction. The long, shallow, metal
tray with very small plastic beads is
                                             ideal for studying collisions and
explosions. Just a few beads will
keep an object rolling. A special
metal bar and launching sled are
included. A quarter pound of bead is
                                             included.

                                             additional masses. Bumpers of
                                             rubber and spring steel allow
collisions of two kinds, or provide
points of attachment for static forces
                                             in equilibrium.

 14300 Dynamics Apparatus 63 €
                                             These are fundamental to all
physics curricula. One of the three
                                             wheel carts has an exploder
mechanism with two levels of spring
tension, the other does not. Suitable
                                             for investigating Newton's Laws,
                                             conservation of momentum, and
                                             explosions. Low friction ball
bearings are strong enough to carry
additional masses on the 9 cm x
                                             30.5 cm plastic covered top.

A trigger on the top releases the exploder without applying a horizontal
force. Includes 10 towing bands for applying a constant force during
         motion studies.

It is quite counterintuitive that the

would not be the fastest way to roll a

makes it look as though the double

but the center of mass is actually

                                          A novel demonstration of the

                                          momentum, and that an elastic
                                          collision transfers more momentum
than an inelastic one. When the

ball will topple the block to show it
                                          has transferred more momentum by
recoiling than did the other ball
                                          which simply fell.

                                            Now momentum can be investigated
                                            in collisions between two moving
balls. It is well understood that a
                                            cycloidal ramp yields a constant
                                            rolling time independent of the
                                            release point, ensuring that a
                                            simultaneous release, using
identical tracks, will yield a collision
                                            without the usual restrictions. The
angle between the two tracks can be
varied, also the launch positions on
each track. The constant fall time to
the floor makes each velocity a

baseball bat. The "sweet spot" is the
center of percussion, and it is found
by one technique and confirmed by

Striking or stroking the end of an aluminum rod while holding the center
between fingertips excites a simple longitudinal standing wave. The
speed of sound in aluminum is found by measuring the length and

creates ‘beats’ when sounded with the first. Includes real rosin for
