                                                        All deadlines are subject to the availability of funds.

                                               Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible to attend a songwriter's educational workshop/seminar the applicant:

1.       must be a Canadian citizen or landed immigrant

2.       must be the songwriter

3.       must be registered to attend an organized event, and

4.       must be a member of a performing rights organization (e.g. SOCAN).


                        Funding
Funding is available for songwriters attending domestic or international songwriters sessions/seminars or workshops.
FACTOR will recognize 75% of the total eligible expenses to a maximum of $750.

Completed application forms will be reviewed by FACTOR's Board of Directors. All information contained in the application form
will remain confidential. Funding will be allocated on an individual basis.


      Eligible Expenses Include:
1.       only those incurred after the application has been received by FACTOR.

2.       only those indicated on the budget page of this application form.

3.       only those incurred for a maximum of three consecutive days, within FACTOR's current fiscal year. (04/01/10 - 03/31/11)

4.       only those incurred to attend professional workshops with a registration fee, and

5.       only those incurred by Canadian citizens or landed immigrants.


     Ineligible Expenses Include:
1.       on-line courses and funding to attend songwriting circles or music review panels (otherwise know as date with
         a tape events) at music industry conferences.

2.       funding to travel to co-write with other songwriters, unless it is part of a professional workshop.

3.       airline tickets acquired through frequent flyer points.

4.       all taxes.

5.       all cash payments including those for eligible expenses.


     Maximum Funding Available:
1.       the maximum number of approved seminars/workshops an applicant may receive is five in the lifetime of the program.

     Canadian Citizenship Criteria
Please note the following documentation is required if not previously supplied to FACTOR.

If the applicant is:

1.       an individual, proof of Canadian citizenship is required (a photocopy of your valid Canadian passport, Canadian birth
         certificate or Canadian citizenship card).

2.       a landed immigrant, proof of landed immigrant status and verification of Canadian residency during the past 6 months
         must be provided (e.g. copies of mail addressed to your home address).


     Financial Assessment Process
Reviewing of applications will take approximately six to eight weeks from the deadline. All applicants will be contacted with the
results.


                Important Notes
1.       All hardcopy applications MUST be legible and completed in ink, otherwise they will not be accepted.

2.       Applications should be completed online with all mandatory documentation attached to the application on the FACTOR
         website (www.factor.ca). Any additional documentation may be mailed and must arrive at FACTOR on or before the
         deadline day at 5:00pm ET. Hardcopy applications may be acquired from the FACTOR website, FACTOR office, or
         through a regional affiliate (listed on the front page). Hardcopy applications may be mailed in with any mandatory
         documentation and must arrive at FACTOR on or before the deadline day at 5:00pm ET. It is strongly recommended that
         applications be completed online.

3.       All required information must be completed on a current, original FACTOR supplied application. Self-generated
         computer forms, or applications faxed to the FACTOR office can not be processed. Applications may be downloaded
         from the FACTOR website. However, the layout must not be modified.

4.       Applicants must retain the program guidelines and a copy of the completed application for their files as they will become
         part of the grant agreement if the application is approved.

5.       FACTOR reserves the right to refuse any application, for any reason, or to propose modifications to the budget submitted.

6.       Program guidelines may be subject to change and will be applied to any application submitted for processing.

7.       The approved applicant will be required to enter into a contract with FACTOR that specifies the terms of the grant.

8.       FACTOR must be notified immediately of any changes made from the original application or the budget submitted.

9.       FACTOR reserves the right to make inquiries to verify any statements and/or costs submitted.

                                    Section Five - Applicant's Agreement

The applicant(s), by signing below, does hereby severally and jointly:

(a)       agree to be bound by all approvals and disapprovals of FACTOR in connection with this application for funding or in
          connection with any payment or allocation of funding.

(b)       agree that they will not institute any claim or proceeding against FACTOR (or its directors, officers or employees) by
          reason of any approval or disapproval of FACTOR in connection with this application for funding or in connection with
          any payment or allocation of funding.

(c)       agree that FACTOR (and its directors, officers and employees) shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, consequential or
          incidental loss or damage arising out of such application or the payment or non-payment of such funding.

(d)       agree that the applicants and their representatives, legal surrogates, parent companies, affiliates, subsidiaries and divisions
          assume the entire risk of loss and/or damage arising out of the application for funding, the approval or disapproval of such
          application and the payment or non-payment of such funding.

(e)       agree that their budget projections are based on fact and have been prepared with due regard to reality and moderation.
          FACTOR reserves the right to withdraw all or part of the recommended funding if the actual budget is substantially
          different from the project budget or cannot be substantiated to FACTOR's satisfaction.

(f)       agree that if you are successful in receiving funding from FACTOR, you may be required to complete and submit, within
          12 months following the completion of the project, a Recipient's Questionnaire Form provided by the Department of
          Canadian Heritage and may be obliged to complete the Statistics Canada annual survey on the sound recording industry.

(g)       warrant that it has complied with all terms and conditions stipulated in the agreement for any and all previous programs in
          the music industry supported by the Government of Canada in which the applicant has received assistance.

(h)       warrant that if it does have a contractual relationship with artist(s), that the applicant has fulfilled, and will continue to
          fulfill, the required contractual obligations to the artists.
