ESSENTIAL PRINCIPALS For Enhancing Immunity
1) Be Fearless – prolonged fear, anxiety, sleeplessness, worry are depleting and depress immune
function. Being prepared and balanced in the face of any stress including an epidemi c will make you more adaptable.
a) When in balance our bodies keep us well with incomparable and incomprehensible intelligence. We must always start with trust and faith in ourselves and our bodies this way we will more likely take actions that support it versus undermine it. Pa nic leads to insanity b) Remember we are the descendants and genetic inheritors of very tough ancestors who survived the bubonic plaque , cholera, yellow fever, Spanish flu etc. long before there were any effective treatments for them. c) Stay off the internet and reduce your exposure to the media which thrives
sensationalism and insecurity on
2) Do not use symptomatic medications designed to suppress fevers or pain with
serious infections. ( such as aspirin, Advil etc.) Anything that inhibits or obstructs the body’s coordinated immune response in these situations can lead to serious consequences. It was reported in the homeopathic literature of the 1918 flu pandemic that those who had taken aspirin during the early stages of the flu were those most likely to not survive.
3) Rest – you are about 60% more likely to catch an infection if you have lost
sleep several days in a row. So go to bed early. If you are sick or getting that way take a break, go to bed.
4) Avoid Sweets during times of epidemics- Sugar has been reported To significantly
reduce white blood cell activity for up to 3 hours after consumption.
5) Nasal Breathe- Breathe through your nose it improves your odds of avoiding an infection. Also keep
your nasal passages clear using your nasal/ neti pot
6) Stay Warm- During cold weather keep your hands, feet, head, neck and back of shoulders warm.
Getting cold can be the final straw for overwhelming immune function and precipitating a cold or flu.
7) Don’t Worry – Practicing self calming, stress reducing activities like prayer, yoga, meditation,
Qigong , conscious breathing etc. have all been shown to improve immunity and resistan ce to disease
8) Help Others – In times of crisis help others. Studies have shown that even watching someone
help another person improves immune function. This is called the Mother Teresa Effect
