Amscan Holdings, Inc. (Amscan Holdings) is engaged in the design, manufacture and retailing of party goods through
stores under the banners, namely, Party America, Halloween USA, Party City, Factory Card & Party and The Paper
Factory. The company’s operations are spread across Hong Kong, the US, the UK, Canada, Germany, Japan, Mexico
and Australia. It is a wholly-owned subsidiary of AAH Holdings Corporation.
Amscan Holdings offer over 400 party goods including tableware, baby and wedding memory books, decorative tissues,
photograph albums, costumes, costume accessories, flags and banners, stickers and confetti, cascades and
centerpieces, bouquets, decorative frames and candles gift wraps and decorations and other accessories. The company
offers its products for events such as birthday parties, christenings, graduations, bridal, holiday traditions, celtic traditions,
baby showers, anniversaries, first communions, bar mitzvahs and confirmations, among others. In addition to this, it
provides theme-oriented ensembles including bachelorette, casino, chinatown, hawaiian luau, hollywood, mardi gras,
retirement, sports, summer barbeque, cocktail party, disco, fiesta, fifties rock-and-roll, masquerade, patriotic, and western.
Amscan has recently launched 5,000 everyday and seasonal specialty gift products including baby, wedding, garden,
inspirational, and holiday gift collections. In the fiscal year ended 2009, the company generated revenues through three
product lines namely, Party Goods and Stationery, Metallic Balloons and Gift. The Party Goods and Stationery product
line contributed 78% to the total revenues, followed by Metallic Balloons (18%) and Gift product line (4%).
The company operates through two business segments namely, Retail and Wholesale segments. In the fiscal year ended
2009, both these segments generated 72.3% and 27.7% of the company’s total revenues, respectively.
Amscan sells its products through the company-owned retail stores, independent card and gift stores, party goods
retailers and other retailers, and distributors, across the world. As of December 31, 2009, it operated a retail network of
386 party goods supply superstores, 161 party goods and social expressions supply stores, 54 party goods outlet stores
and 248 franchisee-owned party goods supply superstores. In addition, it has 247 temporary Halloween stores, under the
name - Halloween USA and 248 franchise stores, across the US and Puerto Rico. Amscan distributes the products to
more than 40,000 retail outlets, across Europe, Japan, North America and Australia.
Geographically, the company’s operations are segregated into two segments, namely, Domestic and Foreign. Both these
segments generated 95.2% and 4.8% of the company’s total revenues, respectively in the fiscal year ended 2009.The
company’s offices are located across the US including Elmsford, Los Angeles, Atlanta, Minneapolis, Dallas, and
worldwide across Australia, Hong Kong, Canada, Japan, England, Mexico and Germany.
