LAWSON, INC. (Lawson) is engaged in the franchise chain development of Lawson convenience stores. Its store network
includes 9,761 stores in Japan. Lawson operates through four store formats namely Conventional LAWSON, NATURAL
LAWSON, LAWSON STORE100, and LAWSON PLUS. The company employs 5236 people.

The Conventional LAWSON format was launched in 1975 and serves the needs of young men in their 20s and 30s and
handles more than 2,800 items in its stores. This store format operates 7,772 stores across Japan.

NATURAL LAWSON was launched in 2001 provides more than 2,500 items for health-conscious customers, particularly
women, the middle-aged and seniors. This store format operates 91 stores in the country. NATURAL LAWSON stores
format focuses on the development and sale of health-conscious private brand products that are supported by women.

LAWSON STORE100 stores format was launched in 2005 provides more than 4,500 items to housewives, middle-aged
and senior customers and operates 72 stores. LAWSON STORE100 stores offer perishable foods such as fruit and
vegetables and daily delivered foods such as natto, tofu and delicatessen items. The company developed and sold a
private brand called Value Line, to provide products in appropriately sized small quantities.

LAWSON PLUS stores format was launched in 2007 by converting and enhancing the conventional LAWSON format. The
company operates 652 stores LAWSON PLUS format. The company is planning to introduce perishable food and daily
delivered foods originally developed for LAWSON STORE100 into LAWSON PLUS stores to expand the customer base.

The company has five consolidated subsidiaries namely LAWSON TICKET, INC., i-Convenience, Inc, LAWSON ATM
Networks, Inc, VALUE LAWSON, Inc, and Ninety-nine Plus Inc. LAWSON TICKET, INC, established in 1992, is engaged
in the sales of tickets for concerts, sports events, movies and other events through the Loppi network in LAWSON and
Daiei stores.

Lawson’s other subsidiary, i-Convenience, Inc. was established in 2000. This segment provides services that allow
customers to use their mobile phones to order various products and services and connect their mobile phones to a
register to settle bill payments and receive products ordered on the Internet. LAWSON ATM Networks, Inc. was
established by four major financial groups namely Mizuho, Mitsubishi-Tokyo, UFJ and SMBC, the city banks and several
regional banks.

VALUE LAWSON, Inc. was established in 2005 operates LAWSON STORE 100 chain of stores. The other subsidiary,
Ninety-nine Plus Inc. is engaged in the operation and franchise chain development of SHOP99 single-price stores.

Lawson offers its products in four segments namely, Fast foods, Daily delivered foods, Processed foods, and Non food
products. Fast foods segment includes rice dishes, noodles, bread, delicatessen items, and other fast foods. The Daily
delivered foods offers daily foods and desserts. Processed foods segment includes Soft drinks, alcoholic beverages,
processed foods, confectionery, cigarettes. The Non food products segment includes daily necessities, books, magazines,
online merchandise sales and services.

During the fiscal year 2010, the Fast foods segment accounted for 19.5% of net sales of the company followed by Daily
delivered foods 14.3%, Processed foods 54.2%, Cigarettes 21.5% and Non food products accounted for 12% of net sales
of the company.
