           이미 Google Patent(http://www.google.com/patents)를 이용하여 선행기술 검색을 하고

계신 분들이 많이 있으리라 생각하지만, Google Patent 의 Referenced by 와 Citation 기능을

활용하면 IPC 를 활용한 검색보다 관련 기술에 대한 인용문헌을 더 빠르게 찾을 수 있어서

소개하고자 합니다.



예를 들어, 항공기 날개의 플랩에 대한 관련 미국 인용문헌을 검색하고자 할 경우, 먼저 관련 문헌을

하나 찾습니다. 만약 관련 인용문헌(B64C 3/52)인 미국특허공보 제 5,222,699 호를 Google Patent 에
입력하면, 아래와 같이 초록, 특허번호, 출원일, 등록일, 발명인, 출원인에 대한 정보가 나옵니다.

Abstract

A variable contour control surface (30a) and a transition section (30a) are designed to

eliminate the discontinuities that exist between an aircraft wing control surface and the wing

itself. The variable contour is provided by translating the top skin of the control surface

relative to the top surface of the wing with the bottom surfaces of the wing and control

surface being joined as a single surface. This movement results in a change in the camber of
the control surface. The transition section (30a) is a flexible connection between the inboard

and outboard ends of the control surface (30a) and the wing. The transition section (30a) is

stiffened by rods (40, 41) which run both fore to aft and spanwise within an elastomeric

material. The transition section (30b) may be used in conjunction with either a fixed contour

control surface or a variable contour control surface.

특허넷 DB 를 활용하면 후출원된 문헌을 검색할 수 없었지만 Google Patent 는 후출원된 인용문헌

검색이 가능하다는 것이 가장 큰 장점으로 생각합니다. 아울러 Link 가 되어 있으므로 클릭만 하면

찾고자 하는 인용문헌을 검색할 수 있습니다. 아울러 특허넷 DB 에 없는 옛날 미국 인용문헌도

검색가능한 점도 좋았습니다. 제가 활용하여 본 결과, IPC 나 US Class 로 인용문헌을 검색하는

것보다 기술범위를 더 좁힐 수 있었고, 그만큼 더 빨리 관련 기술에 대한 인용문헌을 검색할 수

있었습니다.
