Objectives:

    1. To examine the relationship between the epicenters of earthquakes with plate boundaries and fault
       lines in the world.
    2. To analyse patterns of epicenters of earthquakes (distribution, magnitude and depth).
    3. To discuss and evaluate the impact of earthquakes on the physical and human landscape with
       reference to the 1995 Kobe earthquake in Japan and 2009 Padang earthquake in Indonesia.
    4. To compare and contrast the measures used to mitigate the impact of earthquakes in less-developed
       countries and developed countries.


Pre-requisite knowledge:

Pupils should have the knowledge of different types of plate boundaries, focus, epicenter and earthquakes.
