1. Open illustrator and "select all" to change the "Attributes" from 300 or 800 dpi to 2540 dpi.
(Make sure to UNLOCK all first)

2. Select all "unused colors" in the SWATCHES Palette and delete them.

** Before beginning the FLATTENING process be
                  sure
to EMBED all your linked artwork (check your
                  links palette).
**Also send the Original linked files to the printer
                  in case they need modification.

3. Go into File-- "Document Setup"-- Under the pull
down box called "artboard" go to"Printing & Export
and change your output resolution to 2504 dpi.

4. Go to the next pull down item --"Transparency"
and move the Quality/speed slider all the way
to the right for Highest/slower (this will keep
your Vector art and type from getting rasterized).

5. If you have type that has not been turned to paths
and you want it to remain as type, you should select
it all and lock them itl. (In most cases I have found them converted to paths after flattening).(Beware
that all locked objects will be sent to the back of all that gets flattened)

6. Select All” and go under OBJECT to “Flatten transparency”--slide the Quality/speed all the way to
the right and set your resolution anywhere from 300 to 400 dpi (300 for 150 line screen and 350 for
175 l/s..etc.). Preview the results and make sure to do a final check of results after you flatten.
Flattening can cause “atomic blocks” and may show as thin white lines. Rasterize what you flatten to
                  eliminate this.

7. Deselect all and then go under OBJECT --”Unlock All”--leave these items selected as you
will probably want to “bring them all the front” (these locked items usually end up at the
bottom of the new flattened layer.

8. SAVE AS (this will allow you to keep your original unflattened file) the ILLUSTRATOR
file as an EPS in Postscript Level 3 with Thumbnail preview.

*****One final Note: Please go back to the Attributes palette and make sure
your resolution remained at 2540 dpi
