TJC World History timeline: Version 1.0 Last revised 11/16/2004 10:45PM CST January 31, 1910 – Ling Sheng Chang received the promised Holy Spirit in his own house in Wei County, Sun Don Province. April 14, 1911 – Barnabas Chang, also from Wei County, received the promised Holy Spirit in the wilderness, hearing a voice from heaven saying, ―The salvation at the end time comes from the east and spreads to the west.‖ March 1916 – Barnabas Chang hears the voice of the Lord telling him, ―Go to the south to preach, I will give you great powers.‖ August 1916 – Paul Wei received the promised Holy Spirit while praying upstairs in his fabric shop. April 3, 1917 – Paul Wei moved by the Holy Spirit begins fasting for 39 days. April 8, 1917 – Paul Wei was baptized in the Da Hong Men River just outside of Beijing, China. A voice from Heaven said to him, ―You must receive the baptism of Jesus!‖ ―You must face downward to receive baptism!‖ April 10, 1917 – through the revelation of Lord Jesus Christ, Paul Wei starts to correct the doctrines of the churches. The Basic Beliefs. June 23, 1917 – Paul Wei had already established three churches. November 20, 1917 – Paul Wei wrote a letter to the head of the police department in request to establish the True Jesus Church. From that point forward, the church was named The True Jesus Church. Spring 1918 – Ling Sheng Chang visited Paul Wei in Tienjing, China. There he received the laying of hand by Wei and the corrections about the truth. From that point in time onward, they started to work together. January 1, 1919 – Paul Wei publishes the first edition of <i>Corrections for All Nations</i> publication February 27, 1919 – Barnabas Chang and Ling Sheng Chang baptize each other before baptizing 30+ people in the Tang village. March, 1919 – the second edition of <i>Corrections for All Nations<i> was published. May 3, 1919 – Barnabas Chang held an evangelical service in Wei County for two days, baptizing 21 people. Fall 1919 – Barnabas Chang embarked on a missionary trip for nine months, visited 8 provinces, baptized two thousand people and established 42 churches. September 6 or October 29, 1919 – Paul Wei passes away, laying hands on Ling Sheng Chang, Chin Ming Liang, and Ke Xin Ye to be the guardians of the mission to correct the churches. 1925 – Seventh Day Adventists Thomas Kuo and Silas Lin were converted and begain preaching, converting some Taiwanese Presbyterians, opening the door to Taiwan. December 1925 – Earlier Elder Titus Hwang went to preach the gospel in Singapore. Five people were baptized. March 3, 1926 – Barnabas Chang, Thomas Kuo, and Silas Lin went to Taiwan to preach. The gospel spreads to Taiwan. By the end of 40 days, over 100 people were baptized and 3 churches were established. April 1926 – the first three month theological training was held in Nanjing, China. July 1926 – third congregational meeting forms the organization of the True Jesus Church. 42 by-laws were passed. Church headquarters (general assembly) was to be established in Nanjing, China. <i>Holy Spirit Times<i> was created as the official newsletter of the church headquarters. November 1926 – Taiwanese Church Branch (general assembly) was formed. 1927 – first church was established in Sabah-Malaysia. Seeds were sown through literary ministry (Holy Spirit Times). February 27, 1927 – first church in Singapore was established on 11 Kinta Road. September 1927 – the fall of Barnabas Chang begins. Claimed to be founder of the church, was debunked, set up own church headquarters in Hong Kong, excommunicated in 1930. 1930 – Dr. Ai-Chen Li was baptized in Shanghai, China, mailing a copy of Holy Spirit Times back to her hometown in Hawaii. Realizing the need to save souls, she relinquished her medical profession and begain preaching in Hawaii, establishing the first church in the United States. 1941 – first church in Indonesia was established. 1941 – first church in Japan was established when former-Pentecostal ministers, Murai and Kamii Yakobu, returned from Taiwan and re-baptizing their members, adapting the sacraments of the True Jesus Church. August, 1948 – the members’ first contact occurred in 1941 while visiting Elder Kamii in Japan (Yang Song Bae and Tae Joon Jung), but the first church in Korea was established in this month. 1949 – first Student Spiritual Convocation was held in Taiwan. Birth of Religious Education system. 1951 – Korean General Assembly was formed. 1952 – Sabah Church was officially registered. August 15, 1957 – first church in Thailand was established in Hat Yai. 1967 – First World Delegates Conference held in Taiwan. International Assembly formed in Taiwan. 1967 – inspired by the WDC, Dn. John Wu and Dns. Anna Goo Kim Yue began family services on the east and west coast of mainland USA respectively. 1970 – Kanaan Christian School in Indonesia was formed by True Jesus Church in Indonesia. 1971 – first family services began in Canada in Toronto. Paul Wong was a worker. 1972 – Houses of Prayer formed in United Kingdom (Sunderland and Newcastle) as a result of immigration. Brother Hsiao, Keith Horn, Brother Liew, Brother Yau, and Dn. Paul Tang were some workers. July 12, 1976 – first church was established and dedicated in the United Kingdom in Newcastle. 70 people were baptized on that day. 1976 – first church in mainland USA was purchased and dedicated in El Monte, California, USA. (Others were registered a little earlier 1969 Pacifica, 1975, Elizabeth, however did not have chapels yet). 1977 – first services held in mainland Europe in Paris, France. Y.M. Yang and H.K. Ko were workers. 1977 – church in Canada was officially registered. 1977 – first church in India was established in Kerala State. (first contact, first group 1931—long story; second group 1969). 1979 – church in Nigeria was established. Paul Wong and Meishi Tsai were workers. First contact in 1976 by I. J. Akpan to the IA. 1983 – church in Liberia was established. First contact in 1981 Words of Life were distributed at airport. John Lo and Joseph Shek were workers. 1983 – first church in Philippines was established. First contact in 1982 through a Words of Life publication. John Chin and Mun Loong were workers. 1984 – first church in Canada was purchased. Toronto church later moved to a bigger chapel in 1996. 1985 – first church in Ghana was established. Derren Liang and Shyh Kuang Yang were workers. 1985 – prayer house at Heidelberg, Germany was established, though first contact occurred earlier (1979). H.K. Ko and brother Wu were workers. 1986 – family services begin in Dominican Republic. (through immigration, Bro. Huang, and Bro. Yang in 1980). 1988 – prayer house at Brisbane, Australia established through immigration. 1990 – first church in New Zealand established through immigration. 1992 – Central and South America Coordination Center established. June 6, 1993 – prayer house in brazil established. (first contact 1982 through immigration of Bro. Kuo) 1994 – first church in France was dedicated in Paris. 1994 – worship begins in Chile. 1994 – first churches in Myanmar were established in Sakhangyi and Pyindawoo. First contact, 1990). 1995 – first church in Kenya was established. First contact was through LM, ―Three Indispensable Truths‖ from TJC London. 1995 – first church in Uganda was established in Gulu. 1995 – first church in Russia was established in Moscow. 1996 – worship begins in Fiji, through immigration. April 2, 1994 – first church in Australia was dedicated in Brisbane. 1998 – first church in Argentina was established (government approval, application was sent in 1991). New chapel purchased in 2000. 1998 – first church in established in Benin. November 2002 – prayer house at Fu Qi, Paraguay established through immigration during early stage.
