Comment 5 I am writing in regards to Covelo viticulture, which Ralph and Marie Carter have asked me to comment on. My husband and I have grown grapes of various kinds at our home here in the valley, and also at our ranch, which we sold several years ago. The conditions here seem to be ideal for growing grapes. The days are quite warm in the summer, and cool at night. It is not unusual for the temperature to drop 40-50 degrees during the night from the day time highs. We have no fog during the summer also which is a bonus. The configuration of the valley, flat and surrounded by mountains makes the climate here unique. Although my husband and I have had no prior experience, we managed to grow impressive grapes for table as well as wine. This was done strictly as a hobby, and not commercial. I was unable to contact you earlier due to a problem with my server, which did not allow any e-mail to go out for several days. I hope my comments can be of some help.
