private security industry as set out in the Private Security Industry Act 2001.

We also aim to raise standards of professionalism and skills within the private
security industry and to promote and spread best practice.

Our Website will keep you up to date on all aspects of licensing, the impacts
that licensing will have on the private security industry, progress being made
and what those connected with the security industry may need to do as a result
of the new regulations.

YOUR REQUIREMENT

Under the Private Security Industry Act 2001 all security officers have to be
licenced by the Security Industry Authority. Only SIA Approved contractors can
have a small percentage of security officers deployed on site who are trained
and have licences applied for but not issued.

We understand your requirements to be as follows:

1. A dedicated team of licenced, smart, forward looking Officers, who as the
first point of contact with contractors, visitors and the public, will present
exactly the image required by the company. The team will add to the
feeling of security of those using the site, also the element of customer
care in which we know you place in high regard.

2. The team will succeed by providing an excellent service, centred primarily
on the security of the building etc.

3. Security staff are there to:

     • Bring re-assurance to those who have a right to enter the building.
     • Act as a deterrent to those who do not have that right.
     • Offer help and information to visitors.
     • Give advice and information to the emergency services in the
          event of any attendance.

4.   They are expected to be helpful where possible but firm when required;
vigilant and proactive but with an understanding approach.

               3

     Knowledge of the Security business.
     Personable.

they so desire.

Team’ of Officers employed to out relief for such occasions.
    Service level agreement:
        a) We believe that, despite the partnership arrangement, there
needs to be a formal review of the contract on a monthly basis.
The review would be contacted against the agreed level of
service. It would establish problem areas, agree corrective
action and the dates by which they should be completed.
It would also allow for a simple monthly assessment of each
              team member
         b) The review would be conducted on a monthly basis by the
              Operations Manager.

               5
PERSONNEL

Principle
As stated earlier, selection of the correct personnel and the way they are
regarded and managed is the foundation of the smooth running of the contract.
Our personnel policies are designed to promote effective, well trained, well
motivated and fully licenced Officers with minimum staff turnover. This is
achieved by:

     • Firm but fair management.
     • Salaries or Hourly pay by agreement with staff (with opportunities
          for overtime).
     • A written contract with each employee to work at any one site,
only full holiday pay as part of the salary.

Treating our staff in this way gives Security of employment and regular income
not dependent on the number of hours worked in any one week. This gives a
more settled domestic situation, promoted identification with the client and his
business and property, and engenders loyalty to the client, prided in the
business and premises, continuity and retention at the site, and reliability in
attendance and performance.

Hours of Work
All staff are governed by the Working Time Directive 1998.

Selection
Selection is a ‘meeting the requirements’ due to the TUPE Regulations. If any
member of the present team did not wish to transfer then selection would be
from existing uniformed members of our uniformed division.

Interviews
We would recommend that Management would
interview the staff we put forward, before their
final selection.

Discipline
We believe in a strong sense that staff are expected to be reliable and self
disciplined and to follow laid down procedures. Our disciplinary code has
recently been updated in consultation with ACAS.

Vetting
The Company vets all it’s staff in accordance with the BSI 7858.

                                                                6

     TWO DAY APPOINTED
     PERSON COURSE

                     Two-Day Appointed Person
Emergency First Aid in the Workplace (Paediatric)
Description
This course has been developed for those who are working with children and babies.
It will be of particular interest to Teachers, Child Minders, Créche Assistants, Playgroup Personnel and anyone

It is ideal for individuals who are responsible for children and / or babies, who wish to gain knowledge of emergency
procedures and attain a recognised quali cation in First Aid. In addition to that of the one-day course, many other
childhood conditions and illnesses are included.
Where an employer’s assessment for First Aid needs identi es that a First Aider is not necessary, the minimum
requirement for an employer is to appoint a person to take charge of the First Aid arrangements. This includes
looking after the equipment and facilities and calling the Emergency Services when required. Arrangements should
be made for an Appointed Person to be available to undertake these duties at all times when people are at work.
In the absence of the First Aider, employers must appoint a person for this purpose.
It should be remembered that Appointed Persons are not First Aiders and should not attempt to give First Aid for
which they have not been trained.
