     Tips and Troubleshooting

If you are having trouble after installing a new HDD:

• Review	the	manufacturer’s	installation	instructions	to	make	sure
that	the	hard	drive	is	installed	correctly	and	any	hard	drive
adapters	have	been	moved	from	the	old	drive	to	the	new	drive.

• Check	with	the	laptop	manufacturer	for	a	BIOS	update.	Some
manufacturers	offer	BIOS	updates	for	download	on	the	manufacture’s
support	website	that	will	allow	you	to	install	a	larger	capacity
hard	drive	than	was	originally	available.

• Verify	that	the	drive	is	detected	by	a	bootable	diskette	utility,	such	as
the	FDISK	program	on	Microsoft’s	Windows	Startup	Diskette. Some
laptop	manufactures	may	also	have	diagnostic	diskettes	that	are
available-for-download	from	the	manufactures’	support	website.
