In an interview, Rulon F. Stacey, chairman of the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE), talked about his role to ensure ACHE continues to provide healthcare leaders with the tools they need to adapt to the changes that lie ahead in healthcare delivery and to best care for the communities they serve. He said that as healthcare executives, they have an obligation to maximize efficiencies, decrease variation and improve patient safety. Healthcare executives will have to realize the crucial role they play in the provision of medical services. He added that one leading issue he is committed to is the ACHE strategic plan. Most importantly, he is committed to helping ACHE affiliates understand the role they play in saving the lives of the people they serve. He is confident the strategic plan will guide ACHE to provide the right educational opportunities to affiliates just as it has done in the past.
