Role Purpose (Summary)

To manage the accounting and statutory reporting of entities within QBE European
Operations, and to ensure the accuracy and completeness of the underlying data.

General Description

       To assist in overseeing the department’s investment accounting function
       including best practice guidelines.
      To assist in monitoring and reporting compliance of the investment portfolios
       with Lloyd’s, FSA and other regulatory bodies and with the appropriate internal
       guidelines to meet statutory reporting requirements.
      To support with the review market and regulatory issues to identify any impact
       on investment portfolios and report as appropriate.
      Support the refinement of processes and procedures to develop and improve
       the finance and accounting function.


Essential Requirements

       Strong academic background.
      ACCA Qualified with some post grad experience/ qualified by experience
      Significant experience gained in an investment accounting role preferably in
       the London Insurance market.
      Good working knowledge of the current statutory, legal and regulatory
       requirements applicable to investment and treasury accounting.
      Good knowledge of I.T. solutions to finance and accounting problems.
      Intermediate standard of Excel – Pivot tables and Look Ups
      Analytical and problem solving skills
      Strong system skills and to be able to use and further develop financial
       database / reporting systems.
      Awareness of the business and market issues facing the business and their
       effects on the finance and accounting functions
       Accuracy and attention to detail
      Team Work – ability to collaborate and work flexibly with others
      Adaptability – to change priorities and timescales
