COUNCILS AND TRADERS DECLARE WAR ON IRRESPONSIBLE DOG OWNERS
Following a number of recent incidents of children standing or even falling in dog faeces Ferryhill
Town Council the Ferryhill Chamber of Trade and Sedgefield Borough Council have joined forces to
bring offenders to book.
Many traders are now displaying ant dog fouling posters and billboards. This has already brought
forward some results with information being supplied as to the identity of a persistent offender. This
person will be pursued and fined when caught.
This habit of not cleaning up after their pets is not only disgusting for all the public who have to walk
through it but it is dangerous as it can cause blindness in children even 6 months after.
Sedgefield Borough Council has been successful in fining a several dog owners £50 for this offence
The Town Council would appreciate it if members of the public could give them any help with
information, which can be given anonymously, as to who the offenders are. Names and addresses are
useful, but if you only know the regular spot and time for committing the offence together with a
description the patrol can be mounted to catch the culprits.
You can either call Ferryhill Town Council on 01740 652157 or Sedgefield Borough Councils
Enforcement Officer on 01388 816166.
