This is how the laws were before Council amalgamations in 2008. Council continues to operate under these three laws today:

What we said in August 2010
In 2010 Council released a table which summarised the proposed numbers contained in the draft local law. The table contained the
following information:

The keeping of bees in Logan must comply with the Code of Practice for

PROPOSED POLICY POSITION
Bees
It is a requirement under the Apiaries Act 1982 to become a registered beekeeper with the Queensland Department of Employment,
Economic Development and Innovation.
Domestic Animals
0 – 1000m² = Nil hives
1001m² - 2000m² = 1 hive without approval or 2 - 5 hives with approval
2001m² - 3000m² = 5 hives without approval or 6 - 10 hives with approval
3001m² - 4000m² = 10 hives without approval or 11 - 15 hives with approval
Greater than 4000m² of urban zoned land = up to 15 hives without approval
Development application under the planning scheme
The numbers above are considered to represent domestic animal keeping. If residents wish to keep more animals than approved
numbers above, this will be considered as a development activity that requires assessment against the planning scheme. Licensing
requirements may also exist under Logan’s Licensing Local Law or State law.
