JOB DESCRIPTION Job title: Online Event Coordinator Intern Department: Marketing Reports to: Digital Manager Context of the work Save the Children is the world’s leading independent child rights organisation. We seek to make immediate and lasting change for children through a portfolio of high impact activities aimed at reducing child mortality. This is a time of significant change that brings new opportunities and challenges for SCNZ. SCNZ has traditionally maintained a risk-adverse stance, operating more traditional fundraising methods and there is consequently room to develop more innovative fundraising strategies. The Marketing team requires an intern for a minimum commitment of 6 months. Job Purpose: To provide support to the team on a range of thematic areas. Responsibilities: 1. To work with the Digital Manager and Communications team to devise a strategy for long term engagement and activity on the Campaign site www.do1thing.org.nz 2. To seek out event and fundraising opportunities around the call to action: do one thing, save one life. 3. To work with the Digital Manager and other digital interns to work across multiple channels to engage existing and potential new donors. 4. To set goals you work towards, gather metrics around these goals and report on their success. To use these reports to direct future activity PERSON SPECIFICATION Essential: Masters level qualification in event management, fund raising, marketing or other relevant area of study. Experience of managing large scale event promotion and execution in an online medium. Excellent writing skills in relation to a diverse set of audiences. Ability to innovate and generate solutions which are based on an understanding of our online audience. Ability to organise work efficiently, prioritise tasks, and deliver tasks to deadlines. Broad understanding of development issues including rights, social protection, governance, economics or gender. Commitment to Save the Children NZ’s mission, values and approach. Desirable Experience working with or volunteering for an NGO. Experience leading large scale events online.
