It’s Christmas… more or less!
Lately there was a group of friends discussing Christmas. Everyone had an idea as to
how Christmas should change. It should be more spiritual! It should be less
materialistic! I want more toys and bigger toys! I want less people and business. I
want more parties! The conversation made me think of Christmas at Wings and reflect
on what needs to happen, more or less.

Certainly it would be good if there was less violence. Less anger and less depression.
Some of our families are so anxious about providing for their children and not having
all of their old Christmas ornaments. It would definitely be good if there was less Women in need growing stronger
anxiety and fear. We could do with less flashbacks of horrendous moments from the
past and less shame over being on income assistance. The children could do with less Christmas 2004
memories of Christmases past that ended in fighting and hurting and things being
broken.

Yes, our families need more at Christmas. They need to know this year there will be
                                                                                                                                            It’s that time of year
more safety and security. They have more supports in the community, more friends and more people who care. They need more
donations and people willing to invest in their children and their futures. They need more fun and more joy and hope. They need It is hard to believe it is November and I am already having a need for places like WINGS, but, in the
more love and a sense that all is well. We need more men and women who believe that family violence must be stopped and who
make it their business to step in and do whatever they can to help. We need more faith that all our true heart’s desires are indeed
writing our year end greetings! It is a time to reflect shorter term, our dreams include making WINGS a

Our families also need enough. Enough trees, decorations and gifts. Enough special activities and enough food. Enough baking accomplishments. We are able to look back in do so in a financially secure and supportive

I am very grateful for both the more and the less. The recipe for a beautiful Christmas seems to be in having more or less and year is tempered by the loss of one of our great
being grateful for enough. Merry Christmas!
